I am 80% confident that Brianna has some type of synesthesia where she can see what she can taste/smell. She always has the weirdest tasting notes that no one else ever gets.
I think it is a combination of her lack of traditional flavor vocabulary for comparisons and a willingness to be the wild child and free associate experiences in non-traditional ways that may reference other senses, but still have a flavor component.
Love the deep nerdy dive! Also gotta ask if you can bring back "Let's Get Nerdy" for any more sciencey episodes. That was so freaking hype I want to make it my ring tone 😂
And just like that, Brianna's music career was born. Future generations will read about this day and curse us for not taking action in the early years... 😀
Was touring Mcallan in Scotland about 3 months ago and we were given some of the spirit after the second distill to taste. When the guide asked us to describe what we were experiencing I said, "Candied Dried Soft Furry Pineapple with a chew" and a total rando in the group yells out "That's SO Brianna!" and of course I responded with, "You Magnificent Bastard!" .... we laughed, his wife laughed and my friends (who had no clue what was going on) were so confused! The rando turned out to be from Kentucky - small world huh!?
Highly entertaining episode. Very fun idea. Brianna continues to impress me. I'm so glad she is part of the team. Rex, you do a great job too, but Brianna brings so much energy! Keep it up everybody.
Is it possible that the less "burn" on the nitro whiskey is because it has increase the evaporation of the ethanol? You would need to measure the proof before and after.
You should combine this with the beer poking idea - carbonated poked whiskey sounds like a completely new experience - and if I remember correctly might help with the bitter notes.
Haven’t finished watching yet, but wondering whether the introduction of gas followed by the pouring out of the whisk(e)y ends up lowering proof, and thus making the spirits taste smoother.
Considering that Austin has become a bit of a hotbed for a stand-up comedy you guys should consider hosting a weekly open mic night you never know who may walk through the door
The bitter notes from the CO2 is cause it changes the PH of what you are carbonating it, in the aquarium hobby we deal with this if we dissolve CO2 for better plant growth
Pretty sure they are talking about Briana eating babies. I think most people know babies are tender because they haven't developed muscle tissue yet. Mmmm......babies.
Too many comments to read through so apologies if someone else already said the same thing. My first thought concerned the perceived reduction in ethanol "burn". Question: Does the ABV drop after treating with the gas (and by how much)?
Was the goal to hide the identity of the "carbonater?" Every time the camera cut to him talking, the shot was of his beard and the table lol. Mysterious man that swoops in and carbonates your booze. Its like Wilson from Tool Time but in reverse.
hah! seriously! The guy wasn't in the room with them though. He shot this in a separate location and they just spliced it together to look like a conversation. Props to the acting!
so if carbonating takes away some sweetness they you should carbonate one of the crown apple or peach that you said was too sweet, it would drop the sweetness and maybe make it right on target to be pretty good - also i wonder what it would be like if the bottle of sweet liquor was in the freezer and then pumped up with carbonation
Does the pressure make the alcohol evaporate? Just remember people pressurizing and inhaling the alcohol with a bike pump. Made me think of that when I saw the cloud, and the fact you're saying it's not as "hot"
I genuinely don't know what they said that was censored. Like, usually you can tell what was said but they had to cover it for legal\moral reasons. This time, no idea. It could literally be anything and it's killing me to not know.
There was a bar in Venice Florida called Tap & Cork. Guinness stout was always on the menu. Often there would be craft beers that required nitro. The owner made the mistake of pushing the Guinness with straight nitro also instead of the proper 25%/75% (co2/nitro) 'beer gas'. The Guinness had half the flavor with a snow white head rather than light tan. Our fellow customers from across the pond were appalled, as was I. A shipment of Guinness (one quarter keg) would last a month. Most of the other quarter kegs barely lasted a week.
so if carbonating takes away some sweetness they you should carbonate one of the crown apple or peach that you said was too sweet, it would drop the sweetness and maybe make it right on target to be pretty good
Question. How long does the nitro last in a bottle/jar? There is a guy in Kentucky that makes an apple pie that has no ethanol burn and he never tells us how. Could this be it?
Okay…. All kinds of experiments on this channel… time to go ALL the way and experiment with different methods of consuming whiskey…. starting with “Should you butt chug whiskey?”
Hydrogen isn't a noble gas. Noble gases are (basically) inert. H isn't. See also; the Hindenberg. It could get spendy, Argon is cheap and readily available. Helium probably next so. Neon, Xenon, and Krypton.
Austin?..oh ohh oohhh ohhh..y'all should do a colab with that brewery out in Dripping Springs..umm Family Business Beer Co.. I double Dare ya to hand fizzy whiskey to Geno and Jensen. Invite them out.. maybe Jensen will show up in the impala. And now I want to nitro some flavored rums..mango maybe... and raspberry. Rum soda sounds fun.
What would infusing rock hard whiskey with like maple syrup be like? In my mind spicy and sweet combining in a tasteful dance with a smooth nitro finish? 🤔🤔🤔
This makes me think Brianna would be both the most fun and most terrifying person to be stuck in an apocalypse scenario with.
yeah, it's be LOTS of fun, til she got hungry. Then your ass is goin on the grill!
As long as she brings the whisky, we'll be fine!!! 😂😂😂
Imagine being stuck in an elevator with her.
... in ANY scenario. 😂
She’s the goat
I love that the tribe has its own Stig. A nerdy science stig. Keep it coming!
I am 80% confident that Brianna has some type of synesthesia where she can see what she can taste/smell. She always has the weirdest tasting notes that no one else ever gets.
Never thought about this before. This is 100% accurate.
Brian? Lol
I think it is a combination of her lack of traditional flavor vocabulary for comparisons and a willingness to be the wild child and free associate experiences in non-traditional ways that may reference other senses, but still have a flavor component.

Yes!! Absolutely!!!
And just like that, Brianna's music career was born. Future generations will read about this day and curse us for not taking action in the early years... 😀
Great episode; and I'd certainly enjoy if the unknown alchemist can continue to make appearances in the future.
Was touring Mcallan in Scotland about 3 months ago and we were given some of the spirit after the second distill to taste. We need more the Unknown Alchemist! For some reason I also want to see him and the worlds fanciest man together. With a side of Brian Brushwood
this would be perfection!
Highly entertaining episode. Very fun idea. Brianna continues to impress me. I'm so glad she is part of the team. Rex, you do a great job too, but Brianna brings so much energy! Keep it up everybody.
Definitely more of the Alchemist! And I would love to see how you would blend whiskey with whatever food experiments he wants to do! More please.
Is it possible that the less "burn" on the nitro whiskey is because it has increase the evaporation of the ethanol? You would need to measure the proof before and after.
I want to know this!
I think that's what the cloud in the flask is.
i know its not a whiskey but i love the smoothness and roundness of lambs navy rum. best rum by far
So happy to see a channel use my favorite 😍 highland park for the win
You should combine this with the beer poking idea - carbonated poked whiskey sounds like a completely new experience - and if I remember correctly might help with the bitter notes.
are you trying to make a glass overflow lol
yo, I like where this is going
And the distillery burned down. These are too high of proof and will catch on fire.
@@THESLlCK I'm trying to justify an unnecessary purchase is what I'm trying to do
@4:16 , I thought it went right thru their heads 😅 .. Both had a deer-in-a-headlight vibe 😂
I have the Viski Martini Glasses and love them!
Oh...and the whisky part of the episode was fun, too 😆
I cane to this video late, but the chemistry or other sciences of making whiskey would be pretty cool.
Haven’t finished watching yet, but wondering whether the introduction of gas followed by the pouring out of the whisk(e)y ends up lowering proof, and thus making the spirits taste smoother.
I just want to know who’s doing a “Brianna” remix. Like, OMG, SOooooo good! 😂
Considering that Austin has become a bit of a hotbed for a stand-up comedy you guys should consider hosting a weekly open mic night you never know who may walk through the door
Love me episodes with the Unknown Alchemist...would love some in depth chemistry explanation about whiskey and sensory experience.
This just became my new party banger, "get nerdy!!!" 😂
Try one with nitrous oxide aka laughing gas! It has a slightly sweet taste!
The bitter notes from the CO2 is cause it changes the PH of what you are carbonating it, in the aquarium hobby we deal with this if we dissolve CO2 for better plant growth
They explained this in the video. The dissolved CO2 interacts with water to create carbonic acid. Obviously that acid is gonna change the PH
Yes, more alchemist please!
13:29 now i wanna know what that censored word was
Pretty sure they are talking about Briana eating babies. I think most people know babies are tender because they haven't developed muscle tissue yet. Mmmm......babies.
Does anybody know what they said at 13:28? I keep watching it trying to figure it out but I have no idea and its killing me
I am trying to figure it out too, but nothing I have come up with matches the "not enough supplies"
Soda Stream can certainly carbonate whiskey, I've done it numerous times with ours. Also Gin and wine.
Too many comments to read through so apologies if someone else already said the same thing. My first thought concerned the perceived reduction in ethanol "burn". Question: Does the ABV drop after treating with the gas (and by how much)?
The best dad joke ever is chickpeas, also featured by Rex in another video. I will die on this hill.
Ukeg makes a nitro kit that I have tried on a few things mr black it's amazing, but flavored rums brings the alcohol forward.
"Let's get nerdy" is a mfin banger, we need a full track
I don't know who was in charge of making the "Let's Get Nerdy" EDM track, but I see you, I appreciate you.
If this dials back the ethanol while keeping the flavors, how does it differ to adding a bit of water to a high proof spirit?
Was the goal to hide the identity of the "carbonater?" Every time the camera cut to him talking, the shot was of his beard and the table lol. Mysterious man that swoops in and carbonates your booze. Its like Wilson from Tool Time but in reverse.
hah! seriously! The guy wasn't in the room with them though. He shot this in a separate location and they just spliced it together to look like a conversation. Props to the acting!
Maybe the hint is in his name, the unknown alchemist. Bit hard to be unknown if you show his face.
Need a full Let's Get Nerdy track, that drop went hard! Need the rest!
so if carbonating takes away some sweetness they you should carbonate one of the crown apple or peach that you said was too sweet, it would drop the sweetness and maybe make it right on target to be pretty good
- also i wonder what it would be like if the bottle of sweet liquor was in the freezer and then pumped up with carbonation
the interlude was so hype! "LETS GET NERDY!"
I really hope the "Let's get Nerdy" theme song comes back every time the Unknown Alchemist comes on
After watching I’m now curious about carbonating over sweet whiskeys with CO2 to see if it can improve the flavor.
I've had a couple of high abv carbonated meads where it works well to counter the sweetness, so id imagine it could be done.

Love these science experiments. Fun as always, thanks for sharing!
let's get nerdy is an absolut banger
This reminds me of a family guy episode where they made "vodka beer". It's 40% vodka, carbonated in a can.
so if carbonating takes away some sweetness they you should carbonate one of the crown apple or peach that you said was too sweet, it would drop the sweetness and maybe make it right on target to be pretty good
Brianna with the Honeycomb Synesthesia!
11:16 That's the most Australian "no" I've ever heard happen accidentally.
I love this channel.🤘😤🤘
Why did the honeycomb reference make perfect sense 😂😂
I have a drink mate, it works better if you shake it after carbonating it before opening it
Plus the UA makes a killer cubano! 😊
very interesting experiment. great time. cheers
How do you think nitro compared to a few drops of water or downproofing?
Curious about alcohol esters hiding away with nitro! My theory after the powers experiment portion since it's non chill filtered!
Keep them coming. Very interesting
The alchemist is back!!
Man that tune at the end slaps
Is Alex the one who did the outro music here ? Kudos for matching Banana's tempo :D
Also, more nerdy alchemist !
Dang it, Rex! You know that you cannot extend the ringing of the glass without the bottle!
BRAAAD!!!
@@WhiskeyTribe 😂😂😂😂
No lie, that jam at the end is fire!
Listen i see the marketing in the cute one and the funny one, but two of you? Outrageous. 😂
I look forward to the inevitable 3rd channel where Brianna develops & explores a whiskey inspired EDM scene
We need that ID tho. 🙌
i still want to ask this did you try mixing half or the nitro into the CO2 and see what that Tases like ???
Yeah, more of the alchemist please!
13:28 someone plz tell me what theyre saying 😭😭😭
Let's get nerdy!!!
Question. How long does the nitro last in a bottle/jar? There is a guy in Kentucky that makes an apple pie that has no ethanol burn and he never tells us how. Could this be it?
If u put 2x speed on during that let’s get nerdy bit it’s actually twice as funny
Anyone know the exact make and model of the whipped cream maker that he used?
Have you ever done vaping whiskey? It is very flavorful.
Awesome video
Dude! Movie magic!
Okay…. All kinds of experiments on this channel… time to go ALL the way and experiment with different methods of consuming whiskey…. starting with “Should you butt chug whiskey?”
Flavor is a smell, huh? Seems like that would've been the perfect segue if Air Up was a sponsor. Would be great to have come next dry week.
You don’t want to hear this, but that very sweet crown royal peach might work well carbonated. The sweetness balancing the co2 bitterness?
Use noble gasses Hydrogen, Neon, Argon, and most importantly Krypton. Would they add bubbles without creating acids.
Hydrogen isn't a noble gas. Noble gases are (basically) inert. H isn't. See also; the Hindenberg. It could get spendy, Argon is cheap and readily available. Helium probably next so. Neon, Xenon, and Krypton.
@@d-rot My bad, I meant Helium.
With as much as it's aerated in the process, i'd like to see the alcohol content tested after its been infused 🤔
Should have tried it with white spirits and or New Make...
Austin?..oh ohh oohhh ohhh..y'all should do a colab with that brewery out in Dripping Springs..umm Family Business Beer Co..

simply aerating the whiskey, like you would red wine, makes it smoother too
Glad to see your secret guest back
Yes on the fizzy whiskey
is there a link for unkown alchemist?
I'd like to see you try carbonating different alcoholic beverages like Tequila and Rum.
had no idea people cared about tequilas flavour
That was fun
So when is Get Nerdy coming to Spotify?
the Tyrannosaurus shirt joke actually killed me
gonna have to break out my whip cream maker and test this
Damn it, you hair is so great. I just hate it.
Should try this in a Ukeg... nitro or C02 draft style
This whole episode was nuts. Let's get nerdy shall be the notification of messages.
Sińce when does the nitrogen N2 react with water H2O?
Out of curiosity how does it effect a rye conpared to the effect of a bourbon?
What would infusing rock hard whiskey with like maple syrup be like? In my mind spicy and sweet combining in a tasteful dance with a smooth nitro finish? 🤔🤔🤔
why would nitro remove or lessen bitterness though?
You had me at tyrannosaurus shirt.......
I'm waiting for the V-shirt to be invented. I could do it myself, but that would require me to do things. And money and stuff.
How about carbonating and nitroing the same pour?
How are you not doing whiskey whippits?!
