I just finished A Swim in a Pond in the Rain and really enjoyed it. Middlemarch and Vanity Fair were both favs. This year War and Peace was my big classic, what an epic read.
I'm about 70% through Vanity Fair and thoroughly enjoying it. Dobbin is so wonderful(albeit a bit dull at times). And Becky Sharp......love to hate her and I look forward to what scheming she'll do to advance her station. I've never read any Edith Wharton, but House of Mirth may be me next read. 🙂
Such a fun video to watch :D I loved Becky Sharp so much! Not even love her because the chaos she caused but as a character. I feel like she's so smart and interesting XD Seven Hundred Penguins looks amazing!
Another lovely video, thank you! It's been a while since I read Vanity Fair but I do remember having the same fondness for Dobbin😊 I wish to thank you, also, for recommending/mentioning the podcast Backlisted. It's just my kind of listening and I've been enjoying it immensely!
I really need to read Middlemarch, I think I've been saying that for 10 years...every year. I loved Rumpole back in the day too. I tend to read new releases and enjoy reading the prize lists from the library, but really need to start on my shelves too. I just need to get past Booker season and then Middlemarch and I may finally get it together. Happy Reading.
I used to be distracted by new releases too. One of the benefits of doing this unread books thing has been that I've just committed to reading a lot of books that I've been saying I should read for the last 10 years, which have been mostly classics.
I love Middlemarch and am due for a reread, but I don't know when I will. I don't know how I felt about Perfume, but it was weird and won't read it again. At least I can say I read it.
I love the “yearly theme”- I think it’s a nice rebranding of yearly goals, perhaps without the pressure 😊

I really want to read Middlemarch someday! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it! Great video as always Julie!

Good to hear about the podcast. I love the light banter between the hosts and have gotten some good recs from it over the years!

I totally agree about Perfume. It's a strangely alienating book.
@@juliereadsherbookshelf I only chose to try it because another booktuber read and loved it.
First video of yours I’ve watched, loved your vibe! Will definitely check some more videos out
Welcome!
