Could you do a video about Painite? I know quality pieces are incredibly rare and expensive but there's a lot of fakes especially in rough stone online, and I'd like to know some tips on identifying Painite.
Sugilite! Ugly mineral except for areas over on the east coast of the ring of fire I think. Named for a Japanese mineralogist and a gorgeous deep purple, veined. Totally same kinda story as Larimar, normally not pretty mineral but ions make it fire!
I’d love to own a piece of red beryl one day as it comes from my home state. I already have a couple Utah exclusive stones; honeycomb calcite and tiffany stone (I made the long drive to Zion Prospectors crystal shop just so I knew I was buying an authentic piece) and I love them.
I adore chrome diopside. I never find it here in jewellery in UK or in Germany. It's a stunning green and it's raw crystal structure is so sparkly and pretty. I love all these gems you presented on this episode. ❤
Benitoite in California is often with Neptunite(which is a very dark ORANGE to almost black colored mineral), occasionally with Joaquinite and extremely rarely with Djurleite.
Plus, I tend to learn things from his insane gemology knowledge and it's sooo hot to see a good looking man that gets excited over gems. She's Uber cute too and they have a good chemistry, which makes the video even more explosive.
13:07 Most importantly, Pectolite is a Photo-sensitive gemstone, which means constant exposure to Sunlight or strong man-made light can cause the color to fade. Once the fading starts, the only way to stop it is wear the Stone after the sun goes completely down and in moderately lit places. NOBODY mentions that Larmiar is Photo-sensitive to Sunlight or bright lights. Knowing this will save the life of the color of your Stone. Many people aren't told this and it's our job to tell them!
It would be verrrrry hard to make such a chart because of all the variables involved with specimens - how gemmy is the color? The translucency? How distinct are the terminations? What kind of material is the matrix? Etc… it often comes down to aesthetic appeal.
12:26 Charoite is a Rock made of up to 4 Minerals: Charoite: Purple Aegirine-Augite: Black Canasite: yelllowish-Green Tinaksite: Orange. Come on, Guys! This is EASY!
Ametrine is a form of quartz, just like ruby and sapphire are both forms of corundum. What makes ametrine unique is that the coloring elements dispersed in such a way as to get a gradient of orange (citrine) to purple (amethyst)…the chrome diopside we see largely comes from stockpiles mined before the war.
@@gems the issue I was making is that the presentation of the crystal being part amethyst and part citrine. Watermelon tourmaline isn't described as being part rubilite (think that's what red tourmaline is called) and part whatever green tourmaline is called. It's just two toned tourmaline. Since quartz isn't very special (well this one is nicely unique) it just seemed a bit strange.
We always love to talk about moldavite, but since we just did a video featuring it here: th-cam.com/video/pqG67ay-ok4/w-d-xo.html, we figured we'd give some of the other gems some love
4:44 Pleochroism is NOT a Phenomenon according to the G.I.A. You don't want to confuse people by telling them that Pleochroism is a Phenomenon. That is a huge mistake!! A Phenomenon is a very specific visual effect. In fact, Pleochroism has its own section and specific rules for notation for a G.I.A. report and for doing Stone Charts for G.I.A. Assignments and the Final Exam. Phenomenon is listed as (PH) under the General Observations section. If any G.I.A. student puts "Pleochroism" in the Phenomenon section for the 20 Stone Final Exam... THEY WILL FAIL THE ENTIRE EXAM!!
I've held this for a long time, but now I really have to say this Please remove all the dust and fingerprints before recording closer looks At least just use an air blower....please
I think that Larimar takes the cake here 🥳 the base mineral is so ugly, but the special conditions in the Caribbean make it so insanely beautiful! Sold so many rings on that alone, that and sugilite. Two unrelated minerals that have very similar colorations that way.
Not saying that sugilite and larimar are the same color, of course, blue and purple are not the same 😅 just that they're both plain Jane boring minerals that have crazy colorful specimens from very specific localities
Keep an eye on the gemstones.com store on jedora.com. One may be available for sale soon. Keep in mind, most untreated tanzanite is predominantly brown, hence the treatment to bring out the blues and violets.
Single source gemstones are so unique! What did you like? What did we miss? And what would you like to see next?

I would love to see an episode on dendritic stones, such as dendritic agate, opal, quartz, calcite etc.!

The best gems on this channel -- are the people
Could you do a video on the difference between a red/pink sapphire and Ruby?
Love the Tanzanite crystal. I would love a bit of Red Beryl just to say its from the Wah Wah valley 🤣
I’ve never understood either why chrome diopside is so cheap! I love it!
Вкусные и редкие камни. Привет из Сибири. Спасибо за видео
You did charoite dirty! Charoite can be a great example of chatoyancy, with swirling pearly sub-surface reflections.
we had to use what we had...but if anyone wants to send us some, we'll be happy to feature it!
@@gems Lol fair fair, charoite is just a personal favorite of mine, love the channel!
I love Tanzanite! But that Chrome Diopside is now my new second favourite gem. It's such a gorgeous color.
my lapidary instructor was one of the miners at the ruby violet mine and has several beautiful specimens. by far the craziest gem i’ve ever seen
One of the most interesting videos you’ve done until today ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
you made me fall inlove with Chrome Diopside
I gave you guys a share, your channel is so informative, keep up the good work!!!!!!!
thanks!
blue john. zultanite,or csarite, violane, astrophylite, finland spectrolite.thulite, and umbalite(the three part garnet)

Oh my gosh that ring is to die for wow

So cute, so cute, I must say again, so freaking cute Robb is! Meooow.

I want them all
Surprised you didn’t mention Zultanite
next time!
holy cow the charoite
ALREADY CREATE SO AWESOME GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL
i didnt even know u guys sold gems bye bye to my money
Chrome diopside and tanzanite ftw
Those are amazing gemstones!!!
That beryl was insane, the tanzanite is incredible, the host, stacked. Great video overall.
The size of that red beryl crystal is crazy!
can’t believe how quickly they glossed over it
I like how i get to learn about gems but it always feels liek one of those late night infomercial shows
Stunning and beautiful gemstones❤
shes so pretty ❤❤❤❤
A really good ametrine crystal cross sectional slice can resemble a yellow and purple radiation symbol.
I bought a tiny baby crumb of a fragment of red beryl for 20 dollars. It’s practically microscopic, but seems real 🤷♂️

Beautiful gems!
Thank you for choosing the Tanzanite, Rob. I would have been upset if you hadn't. ;}
Cool specimens. I will take the tanzanite 😊. I wish lol
Good crocoite is only found in one hill in Tasmania, Australia. A couple of mines there.
Benitoite is my favorite because it is UV reactive
Nice
Amazing, this Beryl that is already perfectly shaped! What is the price chart for complete specimens, in size color or matrix?

I have a real small red byrel
I love geology,
ah man. I can't enter the competition because i'm international :(. Also my father knows the guy that founded the TanzaniteOne mine.
Sorry to hear that...but on the other hand, that's really cool!
I had a gemstone I didn’t know what it was but then I found out it was ametrine
Could you do a video on mossomite 😊❤
Do you mean moissanite? If so, you're in luck! th-cam.com/video/fuYTVNkCiuo/w-d-xo.html
Robert has a shirt in the colors of ametrine!
I have heard that all ametrine is now cut in Bolivia by their lapidarist.
No mention of hauyne or grandidierite
Heat amethyst to turn it into citrine
What about Nuummite?
We'd love some!
Hiddenite?
is the untreated raw tanzanite specimen for sale? I don't see a link.
Not yet! But serious inquiries can email us at info@gemstones.com
I'm pretty sure that one isn't for sale unfortunately.
Did I miss something? What happened to the old cohost? (Don;t dislike the new one, just curious?)
Rebecca had a baby, so she’s taking some well deserved time off
@gems congrats Rebecca!
Isn't it just quartz with two different zones?
Chrome diopside not effected by Russia Ukraine war?

I ❤ you Rob, you are so sexy now and you cut your hair.
Just unsubscribed. It's her.

Is that ametrine natural your selling ? If it is I want to buy asap
❤222❤
Surprised 😮😮
Where are the specimens available for sale? I'd love a real piece of untreated tanzanite to see the 3 colors!
