It was frustrating watching it in real time. The parents not showing up and gylfie raiding the kids food. But we are rewarded by the lovely personalities that grew up out of this. Fall, in particular, is a treasure.
Really lovely to see the oldest chick feeding the middle chick. And the stand offs! Incredible how quickly the balance of power shifts. Your providing extra TLC has a natural ripple effect to the Good for all of nature. Thank you!
Nature sure can be Harsh, but luckily the Barn owls have you, Robert to help them out! This was a Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing the joys and sorrows of the Barn owls and their chick's! ❤🦉 😊❤🦉 😊❤
I'd like to say a thank you to Mrs. REF who also brought the mice and docs. I won't forget the night she came out on a dark night to search for the newly fledged Autumn when we all feared the worst. Her warm smile and waves to the live cam were reassurances that our little owl brood was getting a wonderful helping hand.
This was a phenomenal learning session for me. The barn owls’ behavior and instincts are fascinating to see. Thanks to you and your staff, Robert, we bring your educational and informative content to our homes. Very grateful.
You do a great job! I watch your videos often and love how you take care and help feed the babies when mama needs help. Also you weigh and tag them. You have a beautiful landscape for all sorts of weasels and stoats that you help. I just want to thank you very much for all you do for conservation! ❤❤
I watch this in real time but I had forgotten how big the size difference was between fall and Autumn. They basically caught up by the time you were ringing them.
Gylfie seems to be just happy to lay eggs and brood until they can thermoregulate themselves. It's Dryer who's more commendable, constantly bringing food to both the owlets and his mate while feeding himself. Gylfie rarely comes back to the nest and that's just to steal food... The owlets seem to hardly even remember her as their mom and consider her competition instead. XD
I hope you've enjoyed the video!

Hi, Robert!
You always choose the best way, and for this time wasn't different!! Thanks for saving Autumn and Fall lives!!!
🙌🦉🦉🤩🙏👏🤗😃
Thank you for the little extra help you offer! Also thank you for offering this awesome video!
This was such an interesting watch. I've always known Gylfie to be one of the best mothers so to see this side of her was surprising.

robert this is remarkable n breath taking 💛🤍💞
秋の二回目の子育てですと食料が少なくなってしまうのですね。大きくなったヒナは食べ物が足りないと興味深い行動をいくつもすること、とても勉強になりました。子育てはいつだって大変なのですね。
Greetings from Canada thanks for sharing this video about gylfie and dryer
Love the shots of the fields with the bails of hay. It makes me want summer back.
You put in so much effort to these birds and the videos. They give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Keep up the good work!

Really enjoyedit I love seeing them grow looking forward to part w
I remember watching this all unfold😟
You did great with helping.
How do you think does the food post with the food supply influence the behavior of the barn owl parents?
Missing Autumn and Fall… we watched them grow… 😢
So that's how Autumn and Fall came to be....
I watch this in real time but I had forgotten how big the size difference was between fall and Autumn. They basically caught up by the time you were ringing them.
There's no point in sugarcoating this: Gylfie just isn't a very good mother.
She's great with the first broods, but 2nd broods in the same year are a lot harder to take care of when food is scarce in the cold weather
1:21 is an actual shot of a neighbor who doesn't like or talk to you but will be damned if your kids starve because you can't find a job.
Gylfie, how careless.....Luna may be possessive with her kids but at least she never want to let them starve😢
This isn't the first time Gylfie has done this.
What ever happened to Luna & Bomber?? We never get to see them anymore.
Robert did just post a recent video of Bomber nest sighting, showing they will breed soon
♥
8:38 for those who came from the community post
Gylfie has never done well with 2nd broods. 😢
The youngest chicks seem to usually pass on...
Why Gylfie? You were such a super-mom! Now you try and steal food from your own chicks.
Usually you step in and take the smaller one to get it healthy. I kept waiting for it. Sad.
Unfortunately, as I addressed in the film, it would have been to risky to intervene. It would have put the two other, healthy chicks at risk!
Gylfie seems to be just happy to lay eggs and brood until they can thermoregulate themselves. This makes me so happy 🥹 Thank you for looking out and lending an extra hand. We need to take care of the animals around us

Another totally fascinating video. Thank you! I wonder what might have triggered Gylfie’s unusual feeding behaviour ?
