happy 10 years Kayla! you've inspired me (& so many others) SO much over the years & i'm so excited to see all the creative ideas you have in store for the next 10 years. 💖
Ahhh congrats on 10 years on Booktube! What an amazing accomplishment 😍🤩 you have always been and continue to be such a huge inspiration for me in this community and it has been the greatest thing ever to watch your channel grow throughout the years! 🥂
Here's a question for the Q&A: I joined sometime in 2021 or early 2022, and I've noticed that in early videos you call yourself Lala, but now you always use Kayla. What happened? Why the switch? Looking forward to all the ten-year videos!
I started watching in 2020 and I binged all of your available videos [not creepy at all 😅] in like a month lol YOU ARE AN ICON BABY! I'm just here to petition for you to un-private all of your old videos for like a day so I can complete my stalking 🤣 Congrats on 10 years!!!!🎉
1:20 One suggestion I had would be, instead of making a top 10 list of your favorite books, can you make a top 100? The 100-11 spots don't have to be numbered like in the NYT list, and I think that will give us much more recommendations and understanding what you enjoy and look for in books 💕
A question for the Q+A! I’d love to know more about the behind the scenes - like how long it takes for you to edit a video, and how long it took before you were editing that fast (I’m still at the point where it takes 24 total hours of work to fully edit 1 video hahaha)! Thank you for being the biggest inspiration for starting my channel! 💖
I've been following you since you were making cloth diaper videos, and you've been my favorite content creator through it all! You've been with me (via youtube) through my entire motherhood journey; from cloth diaper reviews for my tiny first baby through rediscovering my passion for reading as my babies are nearing their teenage years. Thank you, Kayla for being a constant in our lives and being willing to share yourself and your family.
So many of your projects are SO unique, analytical, and interesting! Which is why I loved you! I can’t believe I got to be here for 7 of the 10 years! I can’t believe it’s been so long!
I joined booktube in 2018, and have been watching you since then, but moved channels in 2020 when I felt overwhelmed with the community and have never been able to look back in the same way - except for watching you. I look forward to your videos each week; when I need to sit with a project for a long time I queue up one of your videos, old or new. when I feel burnout from my own videos or need to be inspired, I watch you, because I love your editing and the way you talk about books and sort out your thoughts. I adore how you don’t put books down or when you don’t like a book, you don’t put down the people who love them. you find a person for every book, even if it didn’t work out for you, and as a lifelong reader and former bookseller and maybe someday future librarian (?), it makes me so happy to see you share that love in that way. sincerely, thank you so much for sharing videos with us, and happy ten years! 💗
I can't believe I watch your channel for 8 years 😲 just so you know there are people who watch for years but almost never comment 😂😂 Congrats on 10 years - I hope you are happy in personal and booktube life and find a lot of new 5 star favorites 🎉🎉
I found you in 2016! My dad was sick and the long hours at the hospital were spent binging your catalog (and reading). Then when he passed, you were right there keeping me going. I can’t express how grateful I am for you!
I've been watching you since around 2017. I remember it was the ways to organise your bookshelves and the closet unhaul series that really got me interested in your channel. I was in a really bad place in 2017 and watching booktube and getting back into reading really helped me through. You don't know me, but those little bits of joy you put out into the world through your videos helped me through some of the worst times in my life, so thank you. I hope you continue posting as long as it brings you joy! I'm excited to watch the rest of the 10 year anniversary videos!
Kaylaaa I'm crying a little bit! Your channel found me on a random algorithm when I didn't even have my TH-cam account and I was living in a new city and had no hobbies. This journey of yours has been my absolute favourite thing to follow along.
I’ve been watching your videos since the Closet Cleanout days, almost 8 years.. 😬 You continue to be my absolute favorite person on TH-cam. Your creative and silly spirit keeps me coming back. Love you Kayla! 🩷🩷
I started watching you when I was 6 months post partum (Feb. 2024). You inspired me to start reading again and I’ve read close to 40 books this year which is a lot for me!
I started following you from 2017, and still distinctivly remember watching your vlogs and loving them, your ideas where super unique and still are. Still loving your channel after 8 years. 🎉🎉❤❤
Questions for your Q&A: 1. Have you considered how your life and channel may change when Liam goes to university? (Assuming he goes & lives on campus) 2. Have you ever considered branching out into other content? (Movies, fashion, etc) 3. What do your friends & family think about your channel? Is it strange to tell strangers? 4. Does your library know you make book content?
Like a fair number of us, I found your channel during the closet unhauls of 2017 though I remember watching back your 2016 videos too. Wild that it’s been so long and everything you do still feels so fun and fresh!
36:30 - honestly, this is one of the reasons I love your channel despite generally having different book preferences. We're the same age and the childhood series kept me watching when most of my youtube time went away.
Congratulations on 10 years!! I’ve been around since 2019/2020 and I can’t even believe it’s already been that long. Your videos are such comfort watches for me and I constantly tell my wife how cool it is that you bring us along on your life journey. Even just in these five years seeing Liam grow up and hearing about everything you have going on has been so special and I appreciate you sharing yourself with us. I always admire how effortlessly you can speak to the quality of the books you are reading and I appreciate your praise and critiques of books! Keep doing what you’re doing because it’s a joy to watch
I genuinely love that you're so content. It's good to see that there are people out there that don't have struggle and strife every day. Like, not saying that to say it isn't valid, I throw myself into that category most of the time. So like, if you're happy... keep on being content!
This is craazyy! I didn't remember when I started watching your channel until you brought up the 7 ways to organize your bookshelf video - which I so vividly remember watching. I can't believe it's been that long!
Congrats on 10 years! I've always been curious, why and how did you decide to Private so many of your old videos? This ten year celebration is also making me wistful of if I could go watch some of those beginning videos 😁
I just looked up how long I've been subscribed, and I have been here since August 2016! You were a staple in my college years when I was away from home 🫶🏽 you're still a comfort now!
Congratulations on 10 years!🎉🎉🎉 this made me realize I've been here since 2018....crazyyyyy lol!! I think most of us are here for you and everything you do!
i started watching your channel around 2019-20! i immediately fell in love with your channel and that feeling hasn’t left since. your content has been a constant source of comfort and joy for me even if we have different reading tastes. your videos have always felt like a hug to me and i’m eternally grateful for your presence on this space. even when i don’t have time for a while i always come back to your videos and look forward to them. i just want to tell you thank you and congratulations on 10 years 🫂
I found you in 2020 when we all needed connection-& I have enjoyed your content immensely ever since. You got me excited to read more & expand that aspect of my life, which has become my main hobby/personal passion! Your videos & energy are always uniquely you & I appreciate you sooo much!!
I've been watching since 2019, right when I was getting back into reading and starting college. Your content definitely comforted me during that transitionary period in my life. Happy 10 years!
Congrats on 10 years! Did some math and realized I started watching your channel my sophomore year of high school and I'm now 2 years out of college. It feels like I grew up with you as my cool aunt. ❤❤❤
omg i never comment, but this video made me realize just how long i've been watching your videos!! i remember absolutely eating up your monthly bullet journal videos, i can't believe that was 2018!! and i def rewatched the closet unhaul project multiple times lol congrats on 10 years!!!!!!
I love your consistency, and I think the reason a lot of people (myself included) find your channel so comforting is because you're not in a transitional period. I love that no matter what's going on in the world, I can tune in, and you have a new video about what you're reading. Your video concepts are so fresh and interesting, and I think you are perfect exactly where you are and doing what you do! ❤❤ Congrats on 10 years!!!
Congratulations Kayla 🎈 I can’t believe I‘ve been here for 4ish years now. You‘re a safe haven for me and I know I can count on you and your videos to bring me joy and coziness ♥️♥️
aw lala congrats on 10 years!!! ive been here for 5 or 6 of them 🥰 and you are my all time favorite booktuber!! thank you for sharing your life and your reading journey with all of us!!
10 Year Q&A / another monthly video topic idea: reflecting on your thumbnail journey over the years. Listen, perhaps you're done with this topic and that's cool, but I still think it would be interesting to see if you feel differently now from when you did your thumbnail experiment... if you feel like over the course of your 10 years, you've come into your channel aesthetic. Congrats 🥳
questions: 1. how old were you and rob when you got married? 1b. how old were you when you had Liam? 2. are you ever sick of TH-cam and want to quit? 3. are there any popular books from the past 10 years you either refuse to read or read and hated?
I honestly don't remember when I started watching your videos but I'm really glad I did because I recognize like 90% of your favorite books as things I either read or have on my tbr. You're actively making me read so many great books I can never be grateful enough ❤
I'm so glad I found you on YT. Congratulations❣️ You are always pertinent while being entertaining to watch . Cheers to many more decades of you and your channel on YT.
I would watch the exact same content for 10 years - and that’s because you’re so creative! You do so many different things and I know personally I’ve seen your growth even over the last few years of me watching. You’re so cool!
i think my first EVER introduction to booktube was watching you, ellias, kat and zoe talk about the raven cycle in 2018, but i didn't keep up with your channel regularly until 2020. now, i'm a bookseller in Seattle and watching your channel has turned me onto so many things I would've never tried! it's always a blast picking up your new favorite books, and passing on your recommendations to other readers. thanks for ALL you do, it is so so appreciated ❤
really admire the reflection you did talking about the themes for the year and who in the community you were watching and connecting with! i've been here since 2020 and excited to see what happens next.
Came for the book decor, hooked by the closet unhaul, and stayed because you are the best book person across any of the platforms ❤thank you for getting me to read dig. That book slapped
I joined you in 2020 when I rediscovered my love of reading in the dark days of COVID isolation. I have always admired your creativity and dedication, and this video confirmed just how incredible you are. What fantastic lessons you have learned in 10 years (especially your 2018 realization that YOU are why we keep coming back). I don’t often comment, but I so love watching your content, and I’m looking forward to another year. 😊
I’ve been here since 2018 and I’m here for as long as you are. You are the most innovative, imaginative Booktuber there is. Thank you for giving us such incredible content for all these years!
Congrats on 10 yrs! 🎉🎉 I have only Been watching since 2022! I found you when I started to get back into my reading journey. I quickly realized I needed to find more than just book recs - so I have you! I find your content & personality refreshing in the Booktube world. Maybe because we are both Moms, and in our “don’t give a f$&% era” - I always enjoy your videos - even if our reading tastes don’t always align. Thank you ❤
Kayla, you've been my favorite BookTuber since I started watching BookTube content since maybe 2016 to 2018 (I don't remember). You weren't the first BookTuber I watched, but you definitely made a lasting impact with your content. I do not watch any BookTube content anymore, but you are the only BookTuber I'm still subscribed to because I'm always in awe of what you think up. A lot of BookTube content can get repetitive which is why I began to lose interest, but you're constantly drumming up something new. Now I really watch your content for you and the concept. I don't even read any more, lol. Congratulations on ten years!
I found your channel in May of 2021 and I think I joined as a member in September of that year. And I am still such a fan of your content and channel. Thank you for all your work over the years!!
i was watching you occasionally around 2016-2020 as i’ve dipped in and out of booktube since around 2014, but i have been a regular watcher since the end of 2022! i especially remember the reading journal videos you made a few years back
Congrats on 10 years!! I've been with you for a lot of it. :) I love your TBR challenges! They are so creative! It would be fun to see you bring back the closet unhaul challenge for your 10 year anniversary. And same, I have someone do my hair now and it looks a lot better, lol.
I've been following since the closet unhaul was happening! You said you're not sure what this year was defined by, but I see it as a year of creative tbrs and challenges that you came up with. I'm a photographer, occasionally freelanced marketing to small businesses, and work in art so I love that I can relate you that aspect of your content! I love your content because it's not like what everyone else is up to. I pop in and out of the memebership and appreciate the extra content there as well
Congratulations! I am just starting out with 20 subscribers so far, but I'm having so much fun sharing my passion!! I love thrillers and suspense mostly, and random picks sometimes! I post twice a week.
Happy 10 years!! You have been a main booktube channel I have watched for many years now and it is so nice to see how far you've come. You're videos are always so well thought out and executed in such a captivating way. You helped me find my passion for reading through your content so thank you for sharing your life and opinions with us. I recently started my own booktube channel and I hope one day I can create a community of book lovers in such a way that you have. Congratulations and here's to many more years!! :)
Been here since almost day one - I think you had about 5 videos out when I started watching!! I remember finding your channel and being so excited that you were a fellow Canadian lol. And so much of your references and experiences were recognizable to me because we're the same age, I think that's what kept me watching at first even though we had almost polar opposite reading tastes. Watching this video is like a retrospective on the last 10 years of my life and it's made me realize that you have been one of the few constants for me during that time. So many big life changes have happened, I've lived in so many different places, had some big wins and some big losses, but among all of that, I have watched every single one of your videos and taken so much comfort and joy from your content. I pretty much never comment but I just needed to thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us and entertaining us for the past 10 years - you truly are our Internet bestie😊 Really looking forward to the next 10 💜
I started watching you the end of 2018. I had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and reading was something I could do on bedridden days. I discovered Booktube to find recommendations and you have always remained my favorite.
Congratulations on 10 years! Your creativity and ability to reinvent yourself and still be yourself is inspiring. Feeling like you’re the same after all this time is understandable but the ways you’ve challenged yourself have changed you. Not specific to anything ideas: something where you wander at the library and come across things organically, picking books of a single color, and trying a challenge of some sort- PopSugar, 52 book club, a-z, whatever
Been here since 2017 and oh how amazing these few years have been, so happy to have discovered one of my favorite comfort channels and can’t wait to see what’s to come. Congrats!! 🎉 🥳🫶🏻
So glad to be here with you and genuinely appreciate what you bring to the community because it’s creative and interesting, but your life is joyful and safe and that’s the life I’m always trying to cultivate! 🙌🏼 baby Liam made me cry though. I’ve got small humans and damn. Time flies!
I started watching in 2019 and it inspired me to start a booktube channel, and funnily your advice to just start doing stuff whenever rather than waiting until the first is exactly what I needed to hear as I want to relaunch my channel after my life got in the way the last couple of years, so thank you for being such an inspiration always.
Ive been here all 10 years! I remember spookathon and the live shows with shannon and paige! you are definitely one of the most creative people on booktube! heres to another 10 years!!
Congratulations on completing ten years Kayla. I watch your channel religiously and I enjoy everything so much. I think I found your channel in 2019 but I binge watched a lot of previous years stuff before catching up to that year's videos. Closet unhaul was my most favourite. I remember the Jeep video, the VSCO girl video etc. it's been so much fun. Watching for six years and will be watching forever!
You were one of the first Booktube channels I found when I started watching Booktube in early 2020 and honestly watching your videos really got me through the pandemic. I've always been a fantasy girlie but you (and a few others) really helped me realize that I also really enjoyed the horror and mystery/thriller genres
"Nobody believed that"
My gullible self did. 😔 Nearly had a heart attack
ily 🥹💕🙏🏻
Same. Stomach dropping out of butthole moment lol
SAME I LITERALLY JUST STARED AT MY PHONE LIKE 😮
SAMEEE FELL OF MY CHAIR 😅
Girl, same.
The year long thumbnail project was ICONIC, like I think about that reveal every few months
It was !!!!
I just watched it for the 4th time the other day lol. I love it
it was my gateway drug into kayla
Haha, my jaw dropped!
That video was how I found her channel! So creative
happy 10 years Kayla! you've inspired me (& so many others) SO much over the years & i'm so excited to see all the creative ideas you have in store for the next 10 years. 💖
It's WILD that I vividly remember videos from over 5 years ago lol, been here since 2017 with the iconic closet unhaul series!
Same!
Same! That's when I found her.
@@melaniet6805 Same! It was such an iconic series!
Me too!
Same😮🎉
i love the flip from ‘ok i’m leaving’ to ‘jk here’s the next year of videos laid out’
There's a difference between being complacent and being content 🩷
0:20 ok but my blood ran cold
Girlll you do not joke about shutting down your channel!! The way my heart skipped a beat😭😭
Ahhh congrats on 10 years on Booktube! What an amazing accomplishment 😍🤩 you have always been and continue to be such a huge inspiration for me in this community and it has been the greatest thing ever to watch your channel grow throughout the years! 🥂

I started watching in 2020 and I binged all of your available videos [not creepy at all 😅] in like a month lol YOU ARE AN ICON BABY!
I'm just here to petition for you to un-private all of your old videos for like a day so I can complete my stalking 🤣 Congrats on 10 years!!!!🎉
I binged watch too once I followed
Fellow binge-watcher 😂🙈🙋🏻♀️
Me too! 😂
1:20 One suggestion I had would be, instead of making a top 10 list of your favorite books, can you make a top 100? The 100-11 spots don't have to be numbered like in the NYT list, and I think that will give us much more recommendations and understanding what you enjoy and look for in books 💕
oooh I love this idea
yes!!
"You can do hard things" is such a solid self-depreciating joke. 😂😂
a year celebrating 10 years is so disney celebrating its 50th for 18 months. HAPPY DECADE MISS LALA!!!
Been here since closet clean out! Seeing Liam grow is what finally choked me up. He used to be so little! I feel ancient. lol.
This is the one that always gets me 😭 I remember when Liam was so small..
A question for the Q+A! I’d love to know more about the behind the scenes - like how long it takes for you to edit a video, and how long it took before you were editing that fast (I’m still at the point where it takes 24 total hours of work to fully edit 1 video hahaha)!

Can't believe I've been here 6 years! You're still one of my few "watch every upload" TH-camrs! Excited for the Year of Lala!
True🎉🎉

Why am I emotional?? Cannot believe I’ve been watching for 10 years! We’ve all grown so much. Thank you so much for this safe space.
Was already emotional and then you had to talk about Liam and hockey 😭 weep. Thank you for sharing your life and passions with us for so long 🫶🏻
P.S. you should 100% do a reflection on the membership about your hair and nails over the past 10 years✨
I've been watching you since around 2017. I remember it was the ways to organise your bookshelves and the closet unhaul series that really got me interested in your channel. The drunk vs high series is how I found you. I was just looking for book accessories videos, watched it, fell in love with your vibes.

I just love you, thank you for existing and making my life so much better 🩵🫶🏻
I found you on New Years day 2023 and I was hooked. The first chunk of 2023 catching up on eight years of your videos!!
congrats on 10 years. you’re my favorite creator of all time. I love you Kayla!!!!🩷🫶
I genuinely love that you're so content. It's good to see that there are people out there that don't have struggle and strife every day. Like, not saying that to say it isn't valid, I throw myself into that category most of the time. So like, if you're happy... keep on being content!
Also, it's crazy how many of these videos I remember, your content is just so unique.
The first video I ever watched from you was your bookshelf organization video from 2017 and I've been here ever since! Happy 10 years!!
Only when you started sum up all your videos I've noticed I've been here way longer than I thought. Love your channel! 💜

Kayla you could not have uploaded at a better time. I have had an awful day. congratulations on 10 years

I’ve been here since the cloth diaper reviews friend 🤣♥️💜
Congratulations on 10 years. I started watching you and book tube in 2019. I enjoy watching your videos and look forward to the next 10 years!
I am gunna be really disappointed in myself if I pass away before next october cos 10 years of TBR sounds amazing.
aw lala congrats on 10 years!!! ive been here for 5 or 6 of them 🥰 and you are my all time favorite booktuber!! thank you for sharing your life and your reading journey with all of us!!
Congrats 🥳
I have had so much fun with your content over the years. Cheers to 10 years 🙂
questions:
1. how old were you and rob when you got married?
1b. how old were you when you had Liam?
2. are you ever sick of TH-cam and want to quit?
3. are there any popular books from the past 10 years you either refuse to read or read and hated?
I honestly don't remember when I started watching your videos but I'm really glad I did because I recognize like 90% of your favorite books as things I either read or have on my tbr. You're actively making me read so many great books I can never be grateful enough ❤
not the jumpscare
Congrats on 10 years! I’ve been here since 2015 and you’ve inspired me so much throughout the years! 🩷
Loved this recap and looking into your 10 years!! You’re one of my all time favorite BookTubers!
Really love the format of this. Congratulations. You’re someone I watch despite having almost no overlap in reading taste. ♥️
I pop in and out of the memebership and appreciate the extra content there as well
Happy 10 years!! I’ve been watching for 5 years and I’m constantly impressed, inspired, and entertained. ❤
Congrats! It was my 10 years on BookTube this year too!! Crazy how time flies and how much has changed in the BookTube space!
I was not ready for all of the onion cutting here today! Why has this made me so emotional?? Here's to the next 10 years and beyond!! x
Oh Lala, I love you! I love being a bestie and you sure have helped me on my reading journey!! Thank you for being here ♥️
Congratulations on completing ten years Kayla.
