Thank you Bob, a surprisingly clear recording considering the time and equipment available, I think the most surprising thing is how hard steam locomotives were being pushed at this late stage seeing how poorly they were being maintained in awful conditions towards the end, a tribute to the railway staff and the locomotives themselves!
Glad you enjoyed listening to the Black 5. Not everyone likes on-train recordings. I think they are more of a challenge to get right compared to lineside recordings. In this case I think Geoffrey Barnes has done a good job.
