Did Tony really think it was a good idea to race in a tiny league, knowing young guys would race him hardest? Did he really think it was a good idea to crash a kid on purpose, then gun the throttle when confronted? All the other drivers made it by safely, while under caution. Stewart gunned the throttle to slide closer on purpose, his anger led to too much gas, and murder.

Michael Swainy Do u realize that u have to accelerate to turn a NASCAR sprint-car? they have a very bad turn rate at low speed (it's a style of racing) + Ward was high on Marijuana and he was road raging not Stewart + he tried to GRAB Stewart's car's right wing and NASCAR sprint-cars are very sensible even at 35 or 45 mph (can easily spin out) , so because he GRABBED his right wing , he got sucked under his right rear tire also making the car spin out of control causing Ward to get run over (and if Stewart was accelerating at that second it was to regain control of the car too try to avoid Ward but it was already too late) + the drivers are allowed to leave there cars after accident only if something like a fire occurs and when they get out they stay far away from the path of the cars because they know , that if they get close too the cars THERES A CHANCE THEY COULD GET HIT AND DIE + Ward was wearing a black suit on a pretty dark race track (even the lights weren't that bright) and the helmets have a dark tint on the glass making it harder too see , so it's obvious that Stewart didn't notice him until he got too close to even brake or turn + he might have not realized that he ran over Ward which is why he didn't stop immediately (the staff probably told him through his radio)!!! if Ward died it's because of his own stupid actions !!!

The more I watch that race footage, the more it looks like he turned into Kevin Ward on purpose. Yes, the guy shouldn't have walked out into the traffic, but it seriously looks like in a split second decision Tony saw him out on that track and drove into him purposely. You cant deny that.. Tony did hit the gas a second before hitting Ward.
A driver with his experience doesnt make stupid mistakes by hitting the throttle instead of the brake. You dont need throttle at 35mph to turn your car into that corner more so when the car has that kind of horse power and torque to instantly break traction on a dirt track. His car can be seen moving closer and closer to the wall while dragging Ward. Doesnt matter, neither you nor I can know what was in Tony's head, but this video shows he is a man with serious convictions of what took place.
Thats my opinion and im sticking to it... but im open to anything you have to say that counters my arguments more so, the tape of him running over someone entering the winners circle. That video says alot of what Tony thinks about other people.

You have to remember that Stewart definitely knew there was a caution flag out because he was the one that caused the wreck. Stewart should have been at the bottom of the track. John Clayton yes I believe he did. Watch the video again. It did not seem like an accident. You literally HEAR him gun his engine just as he reaches the young guy. Maybe he didn’t intend on killing him but certainly attempted to car bump him out of the way and hurt him but Ward got caught in the rear chamber from getting gripped by the adhesive like rubber tire material and died instantly. He’s guilty as charged. Of course Ward was a fool for jumping in front of that race car but he probably thought Tony would move out of the way. Which didn’t happen but on the contrary turned more into Wards direction and on top of that accelerated his engine. You tell me what coincidence you think that was.

He freakin gunned it when he saw Ward and all ya'll know he did so don't even start with your you don't know racing BS. He's always been a hot head, his temper got the best of him and now some kid who dared to challenge him is dead. Spare me your BS Stewart, where was this empathy when you ran him over? How come everyone else on the track was able to miss him? Now I'm sposed to fall for the shaky voice press conference routine? No matter how you gloss it over, everybody saw what happened, your fake ass should be in jail, not still racing. Nascar is a joke for letting you back on the track.

I watched that video multiple times and you know what I kept seeing? I saw a hot headed idiot get out of his car on a dark track to confront someone going 100+ miles an hour. But everybody wants to let their emotions stand in the way of reason. If the roles were reversed and Tony had managed to miss the kid but ended up killing himself in the process who would be to blame? Oh that's right, the moron who couldn't wait til after the race was over or maybe even a caution flag to confront Stewart but no he decided to go out on the track and basically kill himself. That is like somebody running out on to the autobahn and getting hit then having the driver who hit him charged for Murder. Kevin Ward killed himself and that's a cold hard fact that people like you can't seem to get through your heads.

IT WAS UNDER CAUTION and the other cars were stated as doing approximately 35MPH. The caution came out the lap BEFORE he got ran over because TONY WRECKED HIM A LAP EARLIER AT THAT SAME SPOT ON THE TRACK! That guy was pointing Tony out WAY before Tony got to him and Tony OBVIOUSLY floored it at that kid right before he got to him. You call everybody that saw the obvious on that video Ignorant Idiots? Your the idiot when you say there was no Caution and cars were going 100 MPH during the Caution. Face the facts. Tony blatantly hit that throttle to scare the kid or throw dirt on him. Dumbass Tony didn't realize that the ass end of his car would break loose that bad and run over the kid. Tony could have easily slowed down and went to the bottom of the track like everybody else did. He had a whole lap to prepare for coming back up on that wreck. He knew more than anyone on that track about the wreck, BECAUSE HE CAUSED IT! Hot Head Tony f'd up! HE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

    • @Uncutmoneybags

Oh so the cars were never going 100+ miles an hour ever during that race? Shut the hell up. It was an expression not meant to be taken literally. But since that is the way you want to debate fine. Obviously Kevin Ward should have never gotten out of the car in the first place. Obviously he shouldn't have walked over to Tony Stewart's car to try and confront him. Obviously Tony Stewart was going the exact same speed as those other cars but for whatever reason Kevin Ward decided to hold on to the end of the car and get hit. Notice he does not even attempt to avoid Tonys car like the other cars. Obviously you are one of the many people that would rather see an innocent man go to jail than let it go as an ACCIDENT. But alas you will continue to debate until you are blue in the face but it doesn't change anything. Kevin Ward decided to put his own life at risk and ended up killing himself and tarnishing another man's name in the process.

I still find this in my recommendations for some reason and my opinion like many others still stands, if tony did it on purpose or not it is still a fact that it’s not his fault that Kevin exited the vehicle and walked onto the track. On any track or road, it’s common sense to not walk into the road and stand there. Just like that one safety video said “shake hands with danger”. It’s a shame it happened though nonetheless but tony shouldn’t be the blame for it and if he really meant to hit Kevin I’d still put half the blame on Kevin because at this point both are in the wrong.

This clearly shows a lot of things clear as day to me. I commend tony stewart for skipping those few weekends of races out of respect for the ward family even when he was the one who ran over him, & for that I give smoke all of my respect. I mean the way I see it the whole thing was just a freak accident EXCEPT, it was Kevin Ward who put himself at the wrong place at the wrong time being while racecars were still going by which was obviously not a smart thing to do on his part, which perfectly explains why NASCAR has the new rule for drivers to not get out of their cars while there is still on-coming traffic on the track. However at the same time, you cannot keep yourself on the side becuz of a tragedy forever, cuz we all know that despite what happens life goes on no matter what, so tony had to return to his own racecar at some point along the line. So I give tony all my respect for taking time off away from the track for a couple races out of respect for the ward family & that to me says a lot. It's clear to me that kevin ward made the mistake of gettin out of his racecar in the midst of on-coming traffic therefore putting his life at risk in the process. He didn't. The people here are hating Stewart because the media labelled him as a murderer, but these people didn't even bother watching the footage. Ward was wearing an almost all black suit, in the middle of the dark, walking around an active race track. Add that to the fact that the kid was apparently high on marijuana and very irritable, it's clear it wasn't Stewart's fault.

Stewart appeared to be putting his car into a drift purposefully in order to shower Ward with dirt as he drove past Ward, who was gesturing angrily. Stewart misjudged his position and, when his rear end spun out to his right, it struck Ward. I don't think he meant to kill him, but I DO think the entire maneuver was done maliciously. Both drivers contributed to the fatality out of an abundance of foolhardiness. Stewart is guilty, at the very least, of vehicular manslaughter .. and I will always regard him as a hothead who acts on his impulses without regard for the safety of other drivers.
Automobile racing is never intended to be mechanized rollerderby .. and NASCAR needs to be overhauled to the higher standards of conduct that Formula 1 upholds. This is what you get when Bubba carves out his own version of racing ... because he can't hope to compete with Formula One.

I think that when Tony came around and saw he was out on the track he wanted to get close to him and scare him cuz its just the kind of thing Tony does.. I absolutely do not believe Tony would hit him on purpose.. Like I said I think he was just trying to scare him.. That being said, Ward should not have gotten out of his car and he for damn sure shouldn't have walked down the track.. They are both at fault. Its easy to look at the video and see that Tony purposely gassed it towards his direction.. BUT there are a number of reasons why he did that.. he could have done that to try and turn the car fast to get out the way(which is what I think was happeneing) he could have also been down shifting which is what seems to be the opinion of people who know about racing and how those cars work.. Its a tragedy for sure, but I don't believe Tony did it on purpose, And in my opinion both are at fault due to their own carelessness..

  • @DaniFrederix

Tony Stewart killed this boy. Kevin should not have been out on the track, but Tony came up the track and hit the gas. That is why his back end slid out and hit Kevin with the right rear tire. Kevin started running back up the track when he realized Tony came up the track. Also, Tony is also going the fastest out of all the cars in the video. In addition Tony Stewarts car continues to come up the track after the point of impact revealing his previous intention to turn right before impact. The timing of the rev and the impact including his speed in relation to others also proves to be incriminating had the evidence been properly produced. Something that also rings true is that these cars are rear wheel drive on dirt and designed to turn left. When the gas is punched, the back end will slide out to the right. This is why Tony had to correct steer to the right. This is also why Tony ended up so far up the track after impact. In addition to him gasing up. Also, see that Tony is the fastest car out of any of the cars seen in the shot.

Tony Stewart is a very talented driver; there is no contesting that fact. What also cannot be contested is the fact that Tony is a hot head. He has one of the worst tempers in all of NASCAR history and fights dirty. Any time Tony was dealt a bad blow, he not only got out of his car but charged the other driver, threw his helmet, tackled his opponent, kick and punched competitor's cars. Just Google it if you do not believe me. Kevin's biggest mistake here was not his getting out of the car, it was getting out of his car when dealing with TONY who had not calmed down and still wanted to make his point to Kevin. I do NOT think Tony meant to kill him but I do believe he wanted to scare him and maybe even hit him just enough to say here's another one for you Kevin. When he realized what happened, reality set in and he NOT only realized what he had done but needed to do instant damage control and play out the grieving card. He should have been brought up on manslaughter charges and his NASCAR career should have come to an end. The problem here is that for a large number of the fan base, he is looked upon as a modern day Dale Earnhardt. He generates a ton of ticket sales for people that want to see him win and also for a ton of people that want to see him wipe out and or have a meltdown. NASCAR is incredibly political and they were not going to allow a guy like Tony to have his career cut short and certainly not go to jail because he represents way too much revenue for the sport. Sadly enough, he did get away with murder and that is and always will be something that many of us will never forget or get over.

Let's be honest here Tony Stewart is the real victim in all this. That Ward kid through his own ignorant actions caused his own death and Stewart has to live with the emotional consequences of that.

So many people passing such harsh judgments on this situation. CNN should have disabled comments on this video. No one should be passing any judgment, one way or another, on this video unless you're related to Kevin ward, Tony Stewart, or NASCAR.
Almost all TH-cam comments are disgusting. They reflect how there is no shame and there is no morality in today's world.

Under caution and hot rodding around the first car missed kevin and kevin was in the same spot when tony hit kevin its tonys fault and the getting out the car roll that roll didn't exist at that time Flror century's no one has been hit under caution because caution means slow down not gas it.

+Danny Ingram if you saw the interview with the owner of that track, he said one of the rules was that you can't get out of your car unless there's a fire.It is terrible that Kevin died but his fault. And what really bugs me is that some people think Tony did this crap on purpose. Why in the hell would a famous NASCAR driver kill a kid on purpose. Makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

Such a self centered "sorry" letter. It was nothing but how he misses the race track, how he thanks his family and friends for his hard time. Tony really has a problem and he needs to be self evaluated for longer than his hard and terrible three week session off the track.

Kevin ran out into the traffic and chased Stewart down. Kevin made various foot maneuvers to place HIMSELF in the path of the Stewarts car. There's a lot the video DOESN'T tell us...but we CLEARLY see Kevin Ward running around the track and ALMOST getting hit buy other cars. He clearly keeps getting closer and closer to Stewarts car...and at some point there's nothing the car can do about it.

@@gtrick64 There are literally videos here on TH-cam from a front-on perspective that shows that he didn't "gas and fishtail his car up to him". The fact that people seem to think that they can see this happening from a completely profiled perspective is hilarious. People that share the same opinion that you do are either bandwagoners, trolling, or missing chromosomes.

I was against all the people who were calling him a murderer until I saw the video... Tony definitely hit him on purpose. He turned his car 'right' into him, in the middle of a left turn. F*ck this dude, he ended a young kids life. He was racing dirty and im sure he wanted to hit that dude, whether it meant death or not.
