I turned 10 that July of '68, as I recalled JB'S music was very UPLIFTING for the black community coast to coast, such as "Say It Loud I'm Black And I'm Proud!" Many people may not be aware of this, but JB pulled a few strings, etc...and managed to get a tour to Vietnam to entertain our nation's finest.... America's service men and women. MY Dad arrived in country in March of '68 and was assigned to B Co 3rd Bn 47th Inf. 9th Infantry Division....they were a part of the Mobile Riverine Force, and their duty was to patrol the muddy water ways and rice paddies of the Mekong Delta In closing, I want to give THANKS and PRAISE to James Brown for being a TRUE PATRIOT, who LOVED his GOD and his COUNTRY and ALWAYS showed his APPRECIATION by singing songs that reflected such, and taking time out of his busy schedule to go visit the troops.

I once tried doing the JB fall to one knee and had to visit the doctor's office - something ballooned up under the skin and that put me out of action for a few days. I'm sure that the King of Soul wore knee pads for that trick, or else he just didn't go it as violently as I did!
