How to Remove Glare from Glasses in Photoshop
It’s always a sad time when you end up with unwanted reflections in someone’s glasses :( Learn how to utilize the clone source dialogue to remove glare in today's episode!
    Short and Sweet
For this technique, you will need to make sure that there is one eye that is relatively clear of reflection, so that we can use it to copy to the other eye.
The clone stamp settings we use (found on the top bar) are:
    - Opacity - 100%
    - Flow - 100%
    - Sample: Current and Below
To get to the Clone Source Dialogue, go to Window - Clone Source. This is where we can really get down to the nitty gritty details. Here, some helpful things to do are:
    - Turn on “Show Overlay” to reveal a preview of what you are cloning
    - Flip the Width so that the cloning is flipped horizontally
Then, we clone from the left eye over to the right eye to take care of the majority of the glare. Be sure to match up the glasses as closely as you can; the preview is helpful for this! Feel free to use layer masks to fix any areas that were cloned too much.
We also use a lower opacity clone stamp (50%) to smooth out some rougher areas.

I've found that it's useful to take a couple of pictures of clients without their glasses when you realise the glare is gonna be a problem, it's a far better source for the clone stamp! Also when your clients/models aren't facing you with their head square, you can't just copy the other eye and flip it cos of the position of the iris.

Great as always! I recently shot a portrait for a friend. she wanted it to be outside in nature but at this time of the year you don't find a lot of green places. Maybe you could show a way to paint leaves on to leafless trees. I haven't tried it yet but i guess you had to recreate the lights and shadows in every leave somehow maybe with a custom brush. But when you randomize its rotation etc. the lighting would be off aswell. If there is a way around that I think it would give a pretty interesting tutorial.

This is quite helpful, and now I know more options about the clone stamp now that I didn't know before. I would like to ask how to remove debris and unwanted things in the glass. I took a frame from my GoPro of me flying over clouds and I would like to know how to remove the ugly bugs from the window and other reflections that don't look pleasant to the eye.

(P.S: You forgot to stamp out the shadow on the right bottom corner. Like this, it seems the photo got 2 lightning sources which wasn't the case I guess)

  • @Underhills
    @Underhills 8 ปีที่แล้ว

The best PS tutorials. Would be interesting to have a showcase where its actually not possible to fix the problem! A little bit of real life issues as well, perhaps find an alternative route to get out of the problem without that having to be retouching. Sometimes I have found that cropping myself out of trouble has been my only option, but then again, I'm not as clever as Aaron here. Again, thanks for sharing!

An easier alternative: when shooting, use a polarizing filter to cancel most of the reflections. It is so much easier to fix any potential problems that a polarizing filter might create than to get rid of big white reflections in Photoshop.
So, whenever your subject has glasses, put a polarizing filter on your lens.
