I have a 2018 Ram 2500 swb ..i bought the RDS 71783 on Rock Auto for $500...diamond plate..it is the wedge style...50"wide 19"height 18 deep...63 gallons!!!
Id like something like this, but with no gravity feed as i have a gasser. I need a pump somewhere on there to fill up light plants here and there. You have ideas on how to go it about it. Id like a bed cover and not the pump sticking out. Thanks
Wish you talk about the dimensions and if the tank was top heavy when full, or did the bolting tabs got it very secured to the bed. I just bought the exact same tank. Still waiting for it to get shipped to me.
The dimensions are in the link which takes you to Lund's website. As far as top heavy, I am not sure exactly what you mean by that, but I guess it depends on what truck you are putting it in. In a 3500 dually, the tank was not noticeable when completely full. Once you put the bolt through the tabs and then the bed, it is very secure. I probably wouldn't go launching the truck or anything, but under normal circumstances, in my truck, I couldn't tell any difference when turning or hitting bumps, etc.

@@whateverfits1978 this is great. if I heard correctly, you use the RDS kit right? the RDS seems like a great solution overall (including the kit) but it is just a little tall for the cover comparing this to the RDS, I do see RDS has like breathers or vents on the side, maybe that's why this one has some spills? dont know if there is something to do about the spills (other than not fill it to max capacity) thanks for sharing. sad to hear you sold the truck
Great information. We have the exact same truck only a 2020 with the highoutput, aisin transmission and 4.10 gears. This is our second Ram MegaCab, Love the trucks but considering sulastic spring shackles to soften the daily ride. Our truck has the oem air bag system which does nothing for the unloaded ride. Have you heard of them? Your opinion? Thanks Jim
Hey Jim! I have heard of them, but never knew anyone who had them. I think ride is subjective. I've never had any complaints about the ride of mine. I test drove a GMC 2500 and to me it rode rougher than my dually. I would recommend lowering your rear tire pressure when not towing. I know it's a pain to air up dually tires, but it makes a big difference. Outside of changing the leafs to something like a Carli progressive leaf pack, I am not sure there is a lot to be done about the ride of a dually, but I don't have and experience with the sulastic system.
Thanks for the comeback. Running tire pressure at 65. Bump back up to 80 when towing our RV. Getting ready to do a complete tire rotation and considering installing valve extenders. God Bless Jim
@@jamescassidy3598 Hey Jim, I've got a 3500 Limited SRW, with the factory air-ride as well. I have made some adjustments to the sensor that have made improvements to the ride quality. The sensor consists of an thin steel rod that attaches to the top of the leaf spring plate, and is oriented vertically to a sensor that is attached with two bolts to the frame. You can loosen the two bolts and rotate the sensor in either direction. First, mark the bracket positions so you can return them back, maybe some flat black spray paint? just something subtle to let you reposition them to the factory locations if you screw it up, then drive on level ground (unloaded), and park on level ground. With your finger, press on each bag to see if they are inflated the same (mine were not), if one is firmer than the other, adjust just one side so they both match. Once they do, then try inflating or deflating the bags by making very small adjustments to both sensors. you will need to go for a drive after each adjustment. If you have the "alt trailer height" button on the dash, that will deflate and re-inflate them as well. It took me about 8-10 times to get it riding the best it could, but feel the effort was worth it. If the bags are rock hard, the ride will be rough, if they are deflated the ride will be rough, semi-inflated is what you are looking for. Hope it works the same for your DRW as it did for my SRW. Ouachita: There are several writeups on HDRams about this (that's how I found this). BTW... can you please measure the EXACT height of the tank? I've got a tri-fold hard cover, and I've been trying to find a tank that will work. I don't completely trust the 18" dimension they provide as being very precise. .

That's a Gator SfX(? I think), the cheapest one Gator makes. I prefer the roll up kind myself. I got this cover for less than $200 and I also like how the rails and cover are a little raised. If you had a flush hard cover, it may not go over the fuel cap on the aux tank.

Honestly, I am not sure on the legalities of transporting gas, but it's different than diesel.

Tank worked great for the time I had it. Sold the truck recently, but it fit well under the cover and added hundreds of miles of range.

No, there is a check valve in there. That being said, I do turn the valve off also just to be safe.
