I have literally never died to the cold. You spawn with a knife and there's hundreds of tools and match spawns in every spawn town. Its so weird to me to see people saying this map is hard

I agree, I love the look and vibe of Sakhal. Sadly, majority of players returned to previous maps :(. Btw it's great that we can reach islands without boats as they were near impossible to get. Still hope Devs will upgrade Sakhal with more unique locations and that some players will return!

The torch is super handy but I've discovered you can have fires that don't quickly go out if you build them on the higher parts of the ice.
I've never seen a map have some much hype and have a pretty successful launch to being so dead now
Well after playing it with my buddy for about a month it’s just less exciting compared to something like Livonia, no heli crashes, less weapons, smaller maps, and weird map flow. It was just less satisfying to move around it. Plus arma reforger just came out on PS5 so it’s officially available everywhere dayz is and is not on a prehistoric engine like dayz. Plus like arma 2 reforger has a new dayz mod you can play.

@@iKernowz yeah the bag attachments and new animations are good. But the ‘renewed container quest’ absolutely sucks in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong I love sakhal but I don’t see how this adds to the map in a good way.
The vanilla temperature settings are ridiculously warm for the environment.
Haven’t even seen a boat on console Sakal and I’ve spent hours looking. I’ve only been playing on Official Sakal, continuously from when it was released. This is with the servers on low population now because all the Cherno servers are full constantly. I like Sakal and have invested time but without much reward. This information is helpful because it seems like there’s no other option. With helicopter crash sites you run. With Sakal container spawns you spend hours preparing then swim? Not much of a decision when you compare them. If this was comparable even with the ridiculous updates more people may start playing it more. I only play DayZ. There definitely needs to be random “somethings” on the mainland as the Christmas event highlighted to a ridiculous degree. This is why the map seems directionless because the high tier game loot has never been the only aim. The fact that there’s no random spawns on the way to the end game is the real issue. Having these two crucial aspects of the game now effectively separate has destroyed the chemistry that is DayZ.

Sakhal servers on PS5 that used to be full now hit 15 people max 😂😂 meanwhile all 4 Livonia servers and the cherno servers are all 60+5

I have found one. The problem is if you want a base on an island with a boat to go too and from the mainland then you are screwed because then boats despawn quickly.
@@leesaunders1930 I've done quite a bit of research. It sounds like the boats are no different than cars. Once a player interacts with it, it won't despawn unless it's destroyed. That's why they're so hard to find. Players are hoarding them on islands.

Santa sleighs killed sakhal on console. After the even the amount of players dropped way lower than before. They should've just had some heli crashes.

People say this map is “harder”. Literally all u need to do is get geared enough to be able to fish and make a fire every 20 minutes or so. 🤷♂️
I found my first boat out on the ice stashed near South East Islands, found another soon after out on the ice off city west, but there's nothing to really do once you get boats , the islands are pretty boring , the constantly having to make fires is monotonous, maps also too small..

I mean I get what you mean, but they have worked on both of those maps for years and years now! Chenarus has had multiple different variations at this point, and Livonia has had a revamp a few years ago, I think it's time a new map is introduced and updated
I'm confused. Didn't you come out with a video earlier saying that the torch doesn't give a heat buff anymore? Did they revert that?
WOBO hasn't covered this properly, as someone that has swam to Salisko Island at least 10 times - the seasonal gear is the best for swimming. Santa Hat & Santa's Beard is the top tier swimming combo along with Fireman Jacket / Fireman Pants / Ski Gloves. 2 Heatpacks to avoid any health loss for the 20 minute swim - it's worth incase of a Blizzard as you're swimming (also not covered) - Edit: Halloween Witchs hats... etc
If you make it to that far southeast island, you CANNOT swim to the next closest island without drowning. I made it pretty close with tactical drying but that final swim to the next closest island cannot be made without freezing
Incorrect, I have done it multiple times. You have 20 minutes with heatpacks, I recommend a minimum of 3. Take an Epi-Pen to provide 1 minute of unlimited stamina / or take 2 incase you plan on using Icecaps to take breaks on. Gear wise, Santa Hat, Santa Beard (water proof / best insulation - not covered by WOBO which I find weird), Fireman Jacket / Fireman Pants. WOBO is also incorrect about the Combat Boots, I don't know why he's made this mistake. Use Assault Boots.
Can you get to the furthest island without a gas mask ? I have all firefighter gear but no mask ??

I'd like to see frozen hands and feet in Sakhal as seen in Namalsk. Sakhal isnt hard enough.
I think for longevity the devs need to consider a way to make this map slightly more immersive than it already is . Island revamp? Better / hidden land , in game lore ? Feels slightly stale after this long

So if you can't wear gas masks with wolf headdresses, then what is the best combo of head/face slot to maximize wetness protection and insulation value?
Also - you mentioned that wearing nothing in a slot is actually penalized when wet. Where does that compare to a drenched balaclava? How about a soaked balaclava? Like...exactly where does nothing become better than something wet?

@ColinBFClarke I wouldn't say it's a shit map, but I would say its definitely lacking in areas. I'd have loved the volcano to be activate at times, maybe a bigger cave system to explore with something in it to find, idk what though. The islands could have more reason to go to them, like have one that is just a full military island.

leave it to Wobo to make the fire making sim, into a swimming sim. lol the crate stuff just has to go its not a fun idea since the gear is STILL awful inside most of the time. Needs to be an airdrop system.
The middle of the island should have occasional airdrops, even in the forests. The containers need a ton of work with better loot, boat spawning won't be fixed until 1.27

given the weight waterlogged clothing would have on movement, swimming should be slowed... also, i'm pretty sure wet clothing doesn't insulate in freezing water. lacking in realism here.

My buddy always wants an m4 so bad like it's the great equalizer. Sure, it can make a difference in an up close trade situation but I rather just keep my eyes and ears open at all times and get the jump on other players. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for these top tier guns, in my opinion.

I feel like 5.56 is pretty hard to come by, I might be wrong / they might've changed it recently, but the M4 is a VERY hungry gun in terms of ripping through ammo, if you can't feed it then you might as well have a BK-18

What boat? I've been playing since release, and I have yet to see a single boat. Maybe in one of the heavily modded servers where they hand you a gift basket on entry

Dayz on xbox needs more stuff to do... The end game is just try to get in gas zones or build a base.. we need more bunkers and key cards and objectives. Game gets boring after getting gear and chasing gun shots only to find no one or die from bush camper

I hate the logic of the dayz devs om many things, another one added to the list is now fireplace going out on the ice. Anyone who has gone ice fishing knows that you have no problem keeping a fire lit on a ice.

Feels like DayZ is more a number and statistic game nowadys....
People dont want containers they want a milly base. And having to swim 20 mins to maybe get an m16 and badly damaged mag with a few rounds is bullshit, and then you have to swim back. The whole flow of the map is so bad, and i was so excited for it too.
I was expecting the south east tanoa island like you assumed. Itd be perfect for end game loot / pvp island. Instead theyre going to drip feed updates to the map over months if not years and by then the appetite for the map would be gone.
Sakhal is so boring once the bunker mission has been done - which isn’t that difficult. Namalsk servers are overflowing and Sakhals are empty. The devs made a huge mistake by not adding any lore to this map.
I love Sakhal the map is gorgeous imo. However, I think it needs an expansion. More Cities in land which shall give players more options to build bases. Base building in Sakhal is kinda dead unfortunately. I also don’t like the military containers thing it just gives Chernaurus and Livonia the edge in finding better gear consistently cause they have the toxic zones (why in the hell does NBC gear spawn in Sakhal?)

Sakhal was my favorite until i seen how they planned it out. Tier 1 outer islands (like fucking seriously?) that are empty with containers that arent worth looting. No contaminated zones. No lore. No interesting places honestly, all felt just kind of.... There to fill space. The main draw was the cold and they failed to capitalize on that. The bunker is a huge letdown again, and it doesnt flow well as a map. They wont fix it wither sadly.

Idk, the whole deal with containers on the islands is kinda lame. Even if you swim on the northern islands you need to come back to spawn towns fully geared and I don't know what's the point. I'm better off moving inland and having normal interactions and fights. Also lot of people just go to the islands and just relog and loot cycle, it all kinda sucks imo
Island maps is undesired in the console community. I said that before the release. Small maps will flop. I argued with many who said (you can’t handle PvP in small maps?) it’s not the PvP, the main issue is the map size. Bigger map creates more opportunities and time to travel which make me play more.

Instead of wasting resources on a new map DLC that nobody asked for they should try and fix their mess that already exists since this game exists... new basebuilding, more crafting, LISTEN TO THE PLAYERBASE and not make stupid decisions like reducing inventory size. It's so simple yet they complicate everything for themselves... 1 step forward, 2 steps back mentality with these interns... sry, I mean devs.

People who care about basebuilding play on modded servers anyway. Current base system isn't broken, it actually works.
Zombies are the most pressing issue, and the smaller inventory is to counteract loot hoarders who take all the good loot, and raid too easily, and to make the early game more varied not winner takes all the loot.
Uh.. swimming while clothed is not wise.. those clothes would, in reality, get very heavy and not do much to keep you warm. Interesting choice for realistic mechanics 😅

2 years ago Dayz devs teased a snow map. So i bought a next gen console. Then, i waited 16 months after for the map to release. I played it for a month and then bought a new PC.....THATS how bad this map is

Need actual higher end gear need actual ap rounds that work making higher tier armor a thing need better nvgs like quad mounts need more guns higher end guns not a mid tier gun you use because you just spawned need loot reworked I definitely love getting Mosin compensators in gas zones
Sadly Sakhal suffered what i sadlh predicted - the main island (and thus the map) is sort of dead.
There's nothing of importance in the inland to make the trek worth it. And even though i like to explore there's so much you can do to entertain the rest of the squad (made out of rigger happy freaks). If i should predict the player movement heatmap on tbe map i'm sure the main island would be like capital letter A. It's shame... Also till this day i still don't understand why the ise axe is so useless, it could be neasilly made interesting item if it would allow to cut a fishing hole on the pond... yet it's just useless reskin (and modders had to do it themselves, as always... like blowing on hot food, combining used kits, pouring water out of boots, backpacks with bottle / hatchet / gun slots, better building etc...)
Give it time, maybe the ice axe will be something in the future.
Honestly, how many players will actually do this? This feels like a huge annoyance more than content. Just give us a bunch more boat spawns and make them spawn more. That’s what makes Sakhal different, so why limit boats so heavy? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

DayZ devs need to pull up. They gonna kill the game if they don't stop nosediving. This is why Sakhal is dead man. People are creatures of habit, you cannot let them play the release and get used to a meta and then change everything so rapidly. Some of these changes are asinine as well.
Wet wool makes you colder? Huh? In what world? Can't light a fire on a ice sheet? Why? Stoves offer no warmth. Never been camping? These changes were only made because we discovered them and used them to our advantage. Simple as.
They are illogical changes as well and do not make sense and also show how little devs pay attn and how disconnected from the game and the player's reality they are because on top of all this they make it so you can swim forever is freezing water? WTF is this idiocrasy? We need a huge TLC IRL continuity update or something because this is stupid.

I stopped playing this game shortly after this map dropped you cant keep a car it immediately gets found by morning because theres like 4 cherno servers and all are full cant even base build either because of the amount of players yet the new map gets like 80 servers but my beloved 0870 cherno gets nuked tried for 3 days using a humvee and cars to get gas gear it will not spawn literally its like the old no guns spawn because dupers stuff all over again i just cant like i literally have nothing to look forward to in dayz because the issue ive said the pvp is fun yeah but 90% of them are really bad so theres no actual rivalry im sorry frosty,kenndy,twisted,jayboog i miss our small official server world and our rivalries it was fun if i do play im just gonna dupe gear because its not like it will spawn anyway
