I am building my first ever PC and this video was such a life saver for me. Bought a brand new 4070 TI Super just to get it installed and not display anything on the monitor. I tried everything but when I found this video and realized I needed two separate cables to plug in. Long story short I plugged in the 2nd cable instead of using one and now everything is running perfect. Thank you so much for this guide 🙏
Glad I could help!!!!
had the same issue kind of but mine did display things untill i ran something that required a lot of power from my gpu luckily i found out right after and changed the dual cable to 1 slot and took another cable and added it to 1 slot. so i hope nothing is damaged (only been 1 day like this)
So basically you just want two separate cables running from the power supply?
my gpu wasn't showing up in the device manager so i assumed it was something wrong with the pins or the motherboard and i was afraid that i broke something. thenm i found this video. you are indeed a life saver. THANK YOU
how did you fix that? im having the same problem
@@jujurobinson7052 the cable that is plugged into your GPU, make sure it has two separate cables going into the 1:2 cable that came with your graphics card. Just like the video showed you, you gotta do both, and I didn't have mine plugged in properly so it wasn't showing up in device manager for me.
Pc was working fine, woke up today and no video, besides turning on. Plugged the gpu off the pc and everything normal, so I checked the psu cable thing you described in this video. Was using a single cable, changed to 2 and know its working. Ty bro
Many thanks! Im building my first PC and this was really helpful. Keep it up!
glad it helped!!!
Thanks man. People like you help average joes like me build their first pc successfully. Everything’s working!
Thank you so much. This is really like a life savior. My newly ordered 4080 super is arriving tomorrow.
The last card I bought was a 3080Ti, so I'm totally new with that kind of cable.
I guess the power connection part must be the same as yours.
the RTX 4080s cards always use those unsafe & ugly 3x1 power adapters, AND it's always better to use a native power cable instead of ANY adapter!
Incredibly helpful, succinct advice. thanks!
Thanks for this, it was helpful to make sure I don't fry out my new 4070 Ti Super.
Yes please don't fry it!!!!
I am upgrading from a 1080 Ti to the 4070 Ti Super. Will I need additional PCIe cables for the 4070 Ti super? I see that it comes with an adapter but I’m not sure if I’ll need additional cables as well. Can’t seem to find my extra psu cables so I’m trying to find out if I need to purchase new ones.
Thank you!!! I tried the thing you said absolutely not to first and thank God my pc didn’t boot because I would not have known!!!
I'm glad it worked out!!
I plugged two PCIe cables from my 1000 W PSU directly to the adapter. Plugged adapter into GPU. It has a red light that turns on (which means not enough power, I believe). Mobo will not boot with it. What have I done wrong?
Holy shit, I’m glad I looked this up or I woulda totally fried my new gpu. I always look things up or read the manual just to be safe. This was not a cheap purchase
So my gf got a RTX 4070 super and I currently have the standard 4070. We didn't know that you have to use two different PCI cables for the power supply. We used it for half a day and the screen kept going dark until it didn't go on at all.
This DID NOT fry any cables or the card; it seems like there's a safety mechanism for this. We just added a second cable and it works just fine. Misplugging isn't that tragic.
Glad you got it fixed
What cable did you buy ? BC I have the same gpu
@@darckstealth280I was talking about the PSU cables. It was a modular BeQuiet PSU.
The card itself comes with some sort of splitter (1 into 2) cable.
thanks man, saved my brand new 4070ti s
dont forget to like and sub!
where can i find that picture you used at the 1:55 mark? i would like to see it all because i have two PCle cord with the pig tails (from corsair). the part connected to the GPU cord is an 8-pin but everything connected to those is a 6-pin with a pig rail
Thanks for the video. Couldn't get the 12+4 cable that came with my PSU to work directly from GPU to PS, so followed your recommendation of using the fork that came with the 4070ti Super and the 2 8pin PCI cables that came with the PSU.
Curious why the 12+4 method didn't work though, bought the Segotep GM750 just because it was recommended as a direct connect from the GPU to PSU.
I got my computer a few days ago with this card i have that cable am i suppose to use it? Because theres a cable already sitting out for it
Wait, I just ordered a 4070 ti super. Can my strimer cables not work then? They’re a 12 pin or should I order a different one.
So, my pc only came with 1 8 pin pcie that is currently plugged into my 3060, I am upgrading my cpu, then my gpu to this one, and a 850 watt psu, but do i need to only buy another cable to plug in to it or how does it work
so i tried it with the pigtail before this video and the lights came on but my screen never turned on, would tht be why?
I have everything plugged in right but my pc won’t display on the monitor what else could be wrong?
Does it matter in which pcie slot it goes in the psu? Or can i just pick any?
Hello, thanks for the video, very good information. I would like to know why you can't use the double PCI cable to the graphics card, thank you.
It's too close to the limit of the cables. A single cable coming off the power supply is rated for 288 watts and the cards TDP is 285 or so depending on the model. If the card tries to draw more than 288 watts, the connectors can melt. Using two cables allows the card to draw power safely. Someone else commented about the pcie slot also supplying power up to 75 watts, which is true. The suggestion is being cautious, especially if you have the 2nd cable available.
What if you have a PCIe5 PSU with a cable that goes directly into the power slot to the PSU?
Hey, a new builder here. Is a Corsair cx750 or cooler master mwe bronze v2 750w compatible with this 12vhpwr thing?
i'm having trouble with connectng more than 1 monitor.. only the HDmi works.. the 3 display ports doenst work... windows dont recognize the monitors, the displays... i'm getting crazy.. any tip to fix that ?
hi man. Mine ( Rtx 4070 ti super master aorus ) has a 12 pin into 3x8 pin so all I have to do is, as u said, plug these 3 into 3 different PCIE cables to the power supply. BUT, Is it ok if my PCIEs cables are 4th generation ( 4.0 ) ones ? thanks
As long as they are normal pcie cables they should be fine.
Good lord this 12 pin connector is just a mess.
whats a good riser cable to buy for a 4070 to super
Hey I would like to buy the 4070 Ti Super
I have a PSU Corsair RM750 and It has two 6+2 cables
does the 6+2 cables equal to an 8 pin as well
Thnx
That is the same thing
I did the two power cables into the power supply(850W) and when i turn power on, it shows a red light on the card saying somethings wrong with the power. When I start the pc, it resets every 20 sec or so. When I take off the 4070 ti super, the pc runs fine. Any ideas?
swap out the psu
The adapter gave me a serious headache when trying to bend it to fit into my SFF build, a Phanteks Evolve Shift XT, not as bad as getting the aio cooler into place but almost...😅
Hey mate, I'm about to build my first PC, and I'm not sure... but is there any issue with buying micro-ATX or ATX motherboard?
Will 4070 just cover everything connected to motherboard in case of micro-ATX?
ATX motherboards are just more expensive, but I'm looking in the way of better choice
And also, which motherboards would you recommend for AM5?
Thanks in advance!
Honestly either or is fine it just depends what can fit in your case. As far as am5 motherboard id prob get this one ( amazon link) amzn.to/4awtzAo its cheap, no frills ad im assuming you wont be ocing your cpu so it will do what you need it to do just fine.
Hello, my friend, good morning. I need to ask you a question. I bought a GALAX RTX 4070 TI SUPER SG, and when I installed the adapter, there was no CLICK. I applied a lot of force and didn't find any gap. My question is whether there should be a CLICK when attaching the adapter or not. THANK YOU.
I would try again, but if there is no gap you could safely assume a good connection, but do whatever you feel comfortable with, I have not heard of an instance of a 4070ti super cable melting
I used the 12vhpwr that came with my Thermaltake gf3 850w psu but it’s pushing against the glass side of the case a little bit when it’s closed. I’m worried about that gpu power connector getting strained. I wasn’t sure if I should bend the cable too much and it’s curved as much as possible without forcing it.
If you were me would you go the 2 pcie pigtail cable route with the nvidia adapter, get a 90degree 12vhpwr, or try to bend the 12vhpwr cable more?
Buy a proper full tower PC case and a ATX 3.0 power supply with a native 12VHPWR cable ( Seasonic or Corsair ), do not use the adapter cable don't play too much with these power cables they are too flimsy it WILL burn and destroy your graphic card, please please believe me I've been (almost) there
it honestly sounds fine
great info. thanks. i would suggest to zoom out the camera a lil bit to show more of what youre doing. but overall its istill great vid. salute
thank you for the tip!!
Hey quick (maybe dumb) question, do 6+2 cables work the same as 8 pin cables?
yes
thanks!
Did the extra (yellow) cable come with the gpu?
Do all of the 40 series card models come with the adapter? I ordered the Gigabyte Gaming OC 4070 TI Super, so not exactly the same model as this. I would be super irritated if it does not include the adapter.
Yea they all come with it
i keep reading that i should not use the 12VHPWR cable that comes with the gpu and that i should instead buy a "better" one, how true is this? and which ones would you guys recommend?
Thats just personal preference, I have had zero issues with the 12VHPWR cable across all my 40 series gpus
Hello what if I dont wanna use the 12vhpwr cable, and I just want to connect two 6+2 (only using 6 connectors each of course) cables straight from the PSU? I have a 850w EVGA gold
You must use the 12vhpwr cable, I have not seen any models that allow you to bypass it.
@@kr00tmanHi , it is safe connect the cable with that specify model of cable or not ? , i have a corsair hx1200w 😮
Could we use one of those 12VHPWR cables from cable mod instead of using the adapter? Also I am having some display issues using a 750W psu from corsair but when moving to higher watt psu it works, any ideas why? Could the adapter that comes with the GPU be faulty or not supplying enough power?
Yes and the 750 is too low
750w shd be fine tbh
So I have the 4070 super which is 220w tdp, do I still need two cables or can I just daisy chain since the splitter is rated for 288w?
Never daisy chain
What about the RTX 4070 super drawing 220 W. Can I get away with one power cable for a day until the extra cable arrives?
Nope
My concern is, when i turn off my pc my RTX 4070 ti super asus tuf glowing red light. Any tips or advice ?
not sure what you mean
I have a modulair psu 750w, am i fked? I cant add a cable
Hey, what about if PSU supports PCIe 5.0 600w cable (be quiet! Pure Power 12 M), and it is included from 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR cable. Can i plug 4070ti directly with this single cable to PSU without exctension that comes with GPU ?
yup
Just the comment I was looking for! Thanks!
I have a 5600x with a 650W gold PSU and will undervolt the GPU, that should be enough until I change my CPU?
You are probably flying too close to the sun ino
I did the dumb thing and used the single cable with pigtails (Corsair 850w PSU). I was getting random BSODs and when gaming/streaming my games would crash.
I didt experience any cable melting... And the GPU seems fine after rectifying the situation. We will see!
Thanks for the info!
Unfortunately my Focus Gold Seasonic only came with 1 PCIE connector with a pig tail, for some unknown reason
I did the same and no melt. PC starts but having lag issues on windows and games with fps drop
@@chichixixi99I have the same problem right now what did you do to fix it?
I have the same psu what did u do to fix it someone help please😭
thank u sooo much bro
Your welcome
Does corsair have a cablemod for the 4070 ti super
Why u asking ?
my 3070 FE was using a single 8-pin of my v650 cooler master psu having 240watts consumption.
now my gigabyte Eagle 4070 ti super consumes 250 to 270ish watts with a single 8-pin and a pigtail.
the thing you are forgetting here is that we also have a PCI slot that powers our GPU up to 75 watts
Not forgeting it, teyinf to keep these guides simple and when it comes to expensive PC parts you would rather always air on the safe side.
@@kr00tman the thing is 300watts is safe for single gpu wd single pci connector and a pig tail . it will easily handle the load without any worry. also this new 12hpwr connector is safe upto 285-290 watts bcz only 4080s 4090s are experiencing melt connectors issue. .
I am begging you to let your camera focus before you continue demonstrations, no one can see what you are connecting.
My cable doesn’t seem to click when plugging in and i’m scared to force it and break the pins
make sure the pins are not bent
I have a be quiet 750W 12M Gold plus. There wasn’t a second Cable only one that was split up like you showed in the Video and since this isn’t good I’m kind of lost here. My Power Supply does have one 12VHPWR Cable but since the card also has this cable which splits the cables up I don’t know whether to connect the 12VHPWR to the card or use the Adapter to the 2x4 Pin cables
Hope you can understand it all.
use the 12hpwer cable if your psu comes with one, check the manual
dumb question but is it ok to use 6+2 pins on these connectors?
yup thats fine
It's so confusing. 750w PSUs only have 4 x 8 pin PCIe slots. My 4070 Ti Super has an adapter of 12 pins to 3x 8 pins. My mobo (670E) CPU power takes up 2 of the 4 PCIE 8 pins. So I'm short 1 PCIe 8 pin slot and that's not even considering other stuff I need to power with PCIe. I hope someone can tell me that I'm doing it wrong and what.
Honestly you just need a new psu I'm sorry about the issues you are facing
@@kr00tman yep that’s where I landed. Turns out I need two 8 pins for the cpu and potentially two 8 pins for the 4070ti super presuming the included 16 pin cable that came with the psu (which splits to two 8 pin males) is an appropriate replacement for the 16 to 3x8 pin adapter that came with the card. If it’s good to go, total 4 x 8 pin sockets to service the cpu and gpu. My 1000w psu has six 8 pin slots so that will work. Expensive lesson to learn. You should do a vid covering different cable configs all the way to connecting to psu. No one else seems to be covering it to that depth.
@@stugryffin3619 I did that! Did you buy the PSU yet
@@kr00tman ohhh bro did you?? I’ll watch the vid again but I don’t remember seeing it. Yep bought the new psu. Still need at least one spare 8 pin PCIe slot on the psu for a lian li fan controller so the 750w with four PCIe still falls short.
@kr00tman ok I watched the video again. What you're missing is addressing the three way adapter scenario. The adapter that came with your 4070ti Super only splits off two ways but there are three way splitters (my ROG 4070ti Super came with one). Weirdly the card came with no manual so I can't even look at technical specifications for the ROG card. Interested in your thoughts whether the 3 way split indicates different power draw between my ROG card and the Ventus card you have and whether you think the 12 pin cable that came with the psu (which splits to two 8 pin males) will be fine or cause problems.
Focus man!🙃
I have 4060 ti areo 16gb and just bought the 4070 super areo 12 yb will it be easy to switch it over to the 4070 super or will need buy connectors any help would be much appreciated
just make sure you follow this video guide and you will be fine.
This is really making me regret buying one and it hasn't even arrived yet. My old 2080ti just crapped out on me so i figured i would upgrade. My PSU only has a single cable with pigtails so i kinda have no clue what I'm going to do to remedy this situation. Very frustrating stuff 😭
Can you replace the PSU, also what happened to your GPU
@@kr00tman GPU started artifacting out of nowhere, haven’t overclocked it or anything I guess it’s day had just come. My PSU does appear to have an open connector for another pcie cable to be used, it just feels like I’m having to jump through a bunch of hoops to hopefully get the new graphics card working properly.
Does this include a 4070 super ?
I made a guide on the 4070 super
why my 4070ti super have 3 8 pin connectors
That's ok, just use 3 different pcie cables
great content, but your GIANT red X covered up the example of you said with FRY YOUR GPU. No bueno amigo.
Bro I'm fucking scared now I did not it was gonna be this nerve wracking. I have a 750 corsair
thumbs up for the wargaming mat
Yessss I love when people figure that out
@@kr00tman on the subject is there a cable you'd recommend for a 4000series that goes from psu to gpu without the adapter needed?
@@latro666 the Corsair one works great and I personally use the coolermaster cable for my 4090
I mean cAblemod sorry
Ventus not ventrus

Fuck Nvidia for forcing these cables on us, multiple 8 ot 6 pin ones were fine
