@Izaya Kun see, I'd pick "Goya no machiawase". I think I'd pick "hello sleep walker" in general even though my favorite song out of both bands combined might actually be "red criminal". Though "shin sekai" and "23" aren't too far behind
It's true that Noragami is how I first discovered both of these groups and while I've gots tons of The Oral Cigarettes music Hello Sleepwalkers is realllly close to my heart. The composition of some of their songs really just sucks me in. "Stand Alone" off the Planless Perfection album are easily two of my favorite songs. HS has a lot of songs where things are just constantly changing up and I can't resist those mix ups. Another fantastic example of this is "Project" which has some great keyboard that doesn't even come into the song until halfway.

When I talk to ppl abt jpop one of the things I always mention is how they often go the extra mile to add some more musicality compared to western music. It’s not always the case, but it happens a lot more. Little variations, more ‘human touch’ in production, the occasional ear candy etc. just makes it more interesting imo rather than just the bare bones format for a hit pop single
5150, A-E-U-I, Licorice, and Wagamama De Gomakasanaide (I don’t know the English name for it) are easily my favorites, you don’t even have to record a reaction or anything, it’s just a really good band with a great unique sound and you should listen to them just in general
