    What are your thoughts about F1 in Vegas?
    Also just to clarify any confusion. The Wynn did let us stay for free but with no obligation to make any video for them.

      (1) Losing out on the P1 / P2 due to the accident (and 8 minute run) then the delay until 2am when they kicked us all out a half hour prior SUCKED.
      (2) Traffic was awful... in spite of closing the strip only at 5pm, it was just bad all the time.
      (3) While I like walking, the distances required to walk to the race grandstand (East Harmon) was nuts if you were staying at the Wynn, Venetian, etc...
      (4) Ticket and clothing prices were outrageous. The value you got for what you spent was so unbalanced it was ridiculous.
      Would I go next year? Perhaps. There were enough positives to make it a possibility, but they need to consider reductions in package prices and more reasonable prices for clothes, etc. Hopefully by next year they can sort out some of the traffic challenges as well.
      Also -- McLaren, Alfa and Mercedes were fairly well represented... Aston, Red Bull and Ferrari were almost non existent, which was disappointing. It was like they were too cool for school to come to Vegas. Bummer.

      They should get the Rose Parade people to run the thing. They hold one of the largest events in the world and nobody complains because they do everything to both mitigate any interference in life and to be inclusive. The parade is NOT held in some walled fortress and it doesn't make incredible amounts of noise in the middle of the night. "Want to look at the pretty floats for free? Great! For all the issues, it was one of the most thrilling races in many years which will have helped. I was in Vegas a month before the race, and the construction and traffic disruption were already bringing the city to a boil. I can't imagine how much chaos there was in town during race weekend.
    We had an F1 grand prix in Baltimore in 2011, and I got a ticket to one of the practice sessions - didn't even get a seat, just entry into the race zone. Never again! It's chaos, everything is insanely overpriced, and frankly, the cars roaring past at 150-200mph are not terribly exciting or enjoyable at ground level. Also, the company that organized the race screwed the city out of over a million dollars, and the whole thing didn't bring in nearly as much money to the city as the organizers promised. The race was held for three years with two different organizers, and fizzled out. I doubt it will ever happen again.

    I saw F1 when it was in Austin and it was not near the costs as here in Vegas. I stayed at Caesars at was told last year this room was priced at 2650.00 per night 5 night stay minimum. I paid 189.00. Vegas has been price gouging for years. Food at lunch 3 burgers and fries 70.00 dollars. 3 drinks 64.00! All the months of traffic nightmares for locals. Its cheaper to rent a car and drive to local restaurants and bars. Vegas used to be a affordable place to visit but not anymore. there are more places that offer gaming all over the U.S. Louisiana, California will be our next trips.

    I visited Las Vegas 4 times during strip construction before the event. Yes, I had to adjust my mode of strip travel to concerts, the Sphere and restaurants. But each trip was enjoyable. I watched F1 on ESPN and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Next year I hope to attend in person. Yes, I sympathize with the strip workers’ commuting hassles but not the bloggers. It seems some “ so-called” local bloggers get jaded and want everything free. Pompsie had the best review of the event and I trust him. He doesn’t bitch for hours on his streams. Great video - couple of points to raise...
    If you weren't comped (by F1 and/or Wynn) how much was the package please?
    Please note that 95-99% of the F1 construction you suffered through as locals was one-off - most street circuits only need 3-7 days each subsequent year to convert from roadway to racetrack because all of the heavy lifting was done before the inaugural race. (Note: year 2 may have slightly more construction than year 3 onwards, just because year 2 is when they fix any issues discovered in the inaugural race).
    Hope that makes sense!

    I would have loved to see F1 in action for the 1st time in my life in Vegas. However, as you stated in your video the casual fan wanting to see what F1 is all about, isn't going to want to drop thousands on the chance it might be a complete dud. I understand seeing primetime events in LV comes at premium, but too much price gouging even at Vegas standards. I didn't want to see F1 "fail" by any means (which I don't think it did) but more learn some hard lessons on what could have made this event amazing all-around for all fans. I’m a huge F1 fan and love Las Vegas so when I found out F1 was coming to Vegas I planned with 4 of my friends to come to Vegas and watch the race. We signed up to get early access and when the packages came out, the prices were insane. And you were forced to buy hotel and tickets so even if we wanted to come over just for a day we couldn’t. We were out and that was like a year go. I am not surprised the turn out was low.

    • @Big-4
      @Big-4 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The turn out wasn’t low. It was a massive success for people that had the money to attend. It’s a 10 years agreement with Vegas so you have an entire decade to save up your pennies.

    • @juliopaez4516
      @juliopaez4516 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Big-4 If the turn out wasn’t low how come the prices dropped like a rock? Hotel rooms were available for as low as 90 bucks if not less. Initially you could only buy packages staring at 5K and towards the end you could buy single tickets for the weekend for $500 and hotel rooms prices were pretty cheap. You are missing the point about not being able to afford going to Vegas. It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the value I put on a sporting event and paying 5K or 10K is not worth it. I am willing to pay 3K. That’s the value I am willing to pay. I attended the World Series to watch the Dodgers and I was willing to pay no more than 2K for a single gane which is what I paid. More than that, it is not worth it. Once again, affordability is not the issue. It is price elasticity of demand. Your comment about having a decade to save up my pennies is idiotic.

Idiotic are people who get defensive when people respond to comments you voluntarily put online!

    With time will come shorter prep time and shorter take down time. Monaco sets up in 6 weeks and has it all down in 3 weeks. But, they have been doing it for 75 races and have it modularized to make set up and tear down easier. It also helps that the major work to preparing the track is done and subsequent years should be much less disruptive.
    But yes, super-gougy prices for rooms and tickets at the start was a faux pas and I understand as race day got closer, hotel prices and ticket prices plummeted. Throw in a brief practice run and those disappointed fans, and the biggies for locals - traffic disruption and local government having to cough up half the cost, when the promoters were originally going to foot it all.

    Kicking everyone out Thursday after 10 minutes of practice is a terrible black eye. A $200 voucher offered to Thursday only folks doesn't help when a hoodie costs more than that. The multiple day ticket holders were offered nothing, they missed FP1 and FP2 - 1/3 of the viewing time. As Ruby said, the high ticket and hotel prices kept many of the real F1 fans away. By the time the prices were dropped, it may have been too late to make plans.

    This time you are completely wrong. Ask any of the dealers…for example it’s being reported that Wynn/encore dealers made upwards of 2k plus for a Saturday it tokes. Or Friday at Cosmo dealers also made North of 2k for a dealer. A normal weekend is 300 to 400 for a Saturday. I also understand that servers at restaurants made upwards of 1k for Friday and Saturday shifts.
    It was such a success that it’s been confirmed that there is a 10 year contract signed.

    I agree with a lot of your comments. I think overall it was a success, in the sense Vegas put on a great race, but I can’t say it was a fan focused experience. Prices alone, show that. I had a great time despite not getting an over priced ticket. I found a good bar with a small view of the track. The casinos were the winners it seems, thanks to increase in bigger spending gamblers being in town, during a quiet part of the year. However, it seems more of the regular Vegas crowd stayed away because the hotels were over priced until the last minute. This it hurts workers in hotels with less guests. Uber/taxi drivers were telling me it had been a bad week for them.
    Hopefully it should be less painful next year, as all the lessons should have been learned now. We’ll have to wait and see, but I hope they can find a way to look after the locals.
