DINOSAUR FISH (Catch Clean & Cook) (Freshwater Drum)

my wife and I went out to chase around some dinosaur fish or known a fresh water drum We did a catch clean and cook with the fish! the fresh water drum has a reputation for being disgusting but I find the fish to be decent table fair!

Excellent video. We just ate some small drum from a local lake. We cooked it and a nice small channel cat. The drum was waaayyy better. I think the hate comes from people frying the crap out of them and turning them rubbery. I also bleed mine like you.

I've ate Drum out of these Ky waters my whole life.. and have always tried to tell people just how good it is... but as you know most all look at drum as a trash fish

Yea like I said I don’t understand where all the hate comes from! It’s a solid fish and I cooked it on the half shell cause that’s supposed to be the most basic way to see if fish it good or bad and it was amazing

Nice! I live in Michigan, catch drum off the piers in Lake Mi. and as long as you take care of them right, they are as good as just about anything! MIstake people make with them is to just toss them in a dry cooler and let them sit around dead for hours...NO fish is going to be optimal like that, and drum suffer more than most. Keep them alive as long as possible OR dispatch and clean immediately and put on ice, and they are excellent.

I like next to a dam and I never have any luck. Everyone else does. Lol
