Thank you, Mark. Three days ago, a new colleague gave me a half smile and I realised she had identified me as 'the enemy'. After a day of observing how she related to me, I confirmed it. She literally gave me nightmares. The next day I turned down several months worth of work that would make her my boss. I gave her inauthenticity, a friendly stance and a socially acceptable reason for walking away. I can't thank you enough for helping me protect my reputation and mental health. Love your work :)
Truly brilliant, Mark. Being inauthentic is a lesson I learned in hospitality and it has served me well over the following decades as a professional. Such a wonderful pep talk. Thank you.
Happy New Year Mark ! - thanks for this video - your ted talk is great - and authenticity is such an interesting concept - you are both erudite and engaging and great sense of humor- love listening to you! 🎉💕
I like the message in the context of a Tedx conference, but in real life I feel like it makes sense to avoid people who seem like predators. Great talk though, I really enjoyed it
@MarkBowden1 - off topic - your accent AND body language is so spot on to Christian Bale's natural linguistics. England has so many different accents but I had never heard one that was similar to his, which I presumed was because he was both an actor who changed accents a lot and because he had lived in the States for many years. Anyway, I'm a bit of an amateur linguist myself, and I absolutely adore your insights and work both on your own and the Behavior Panel. I would say, though, check out some of Bale's natural interviews as he has gotten older and more settled into himself: th-cam.com/video/TRGHIN2PGIA/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/Rl9NLWfbaiE/w-d-xo.html
The way Mark does the sexual partner bit; he reminds me of Eddie Izzard. Mark could do stand up. The look feigned look back, backstage for support. He would kill on stage.
Can this be a communication issue that I see in my hero, Mark? You can be authentic while not on autopilot (primitive thinking). I love your message, but I feel like there's a misunderstanding. Authenticity is more than primitive thinking. It's about being the person you want to be.
a man on the jeremy kyle show committed suicidé after taking part in a lie detector test (Steve Dymond ) but i think you said that the lie detector did not work and it was down to the operator ????
The idea of being open to connect to other people is what my life a younger person, was always like. l have found however, that by-and-large, people are petty, boring, myopic, unintelligent, disdainful, tribal, thoughtless, dangerous, self absorbed, and insular. They can also be intractably paranoid, manipulative, emotionally disregulated, infantile and just uninteresting on the most part. So now l really can't see the point in putting up with all of those qualities mentioned above just to say l spoke to someone today. The fact is, we are all on a lone journey to death, which no amount of socialising will change, or soften the harsh reality of.

If someone insinuates that you are not authentic, that means you are not being the person whom they have decided you must be.
I could listen to @MarkBowden1 for hours and hours… oh wait I do! I’m a huge fan. Love Mark and The Behavior Panel!
Happy New Year, Mark! All the best for 2024! I'm being authentic with you right now 🎉🎉🎉

I saw this ages ago and well before The Behaviour Panel. He kept it light, informative and of course, funny.
Love it! It seems to be based on authentic personal perspective. Good luck with that 😂
How does this man have such good hair 😅
I know, right? I would be way more confident if my hair looked that good.
It's a mane. And he hangs out with Tigers at 3am. 🌷
Matt Berry in a different timeline. Great video!

Home run! Awesome Mark
This word has been mine for almost 40 years

I want to hang out with Tracy.
