I cannot understand why the producers of Escape To The Country completely ignore the strongly-stated wishes of the house-hunters. On this episode, the clear wish was NOT to have beams, yet the mystery house was filled with them, guaranteeing a total waste of time. Very poor selections on the part of the producers of the program. And frustrating to watch.

Why do I feel this woman won't be happy with anything even though the Mystery House certainly iived up to what she wanted except for the 'low beams' which were well above her partner's head and he is tall. High maintenance lady I think.
(Joan here). She is not a realtor, hence commissions are not an issue. She is a presenter on this TV show which by its nature does fare better if there is talking involved.
I thought they said they wanted to live by the coast and have no beams in the homes. Also modern look! Why ask the prospective buyers if their wish list will be totally ignored🤪

I think her wish not to have low beams wasn't just a matter of aesthetics. The husband implied she has claustrophobia.

The one thing the buyer is requested to do is talk. You’ll hear ALL the presenters say, “Talk to me” or similar.
