True story: my grandma loved adventure games. We used to huddle around the old Windows 95 PC and watch her play this on an old CRT monitor in the 90s. My grandma passed away 10 years ago and to this day I remember going through "The 7th Guest" with her. The 90s were a special time for me.
There's a novelization by Craig Shaw Gardner which not only includes both endings, but also reveals the backstory of each guest. For example, Edward had gambling debts to pay.
I remember saving up the money to buy one of those Creative Labs CD-ROM bundles in order to play this game, back in the early 90s. I’m glad this game got a remaster so other people can check this out on modern hardware too. I’m on the fence about the speed improvements though. The slowness during transitions was a hallmark of early 3D but I suppose it’s for the best. Great game and fantastic soundtrack by The Fat Man and Team Fat (who ironically was very skinny iirc).
When I was in high school we got to take a trip to Trilobyte Software in Jacksonville Oregon and do a tour of their office (which was in an old bank headquarters) - first and only time I saw an SGI computer :) - really neat experience. Graeme had rocking chairs for his guests in his office - and it was full of Star Wars collectables.
Good job trying to follow the unfolding story as closely as possible. The Prima Strategy Guide had the puzzles in a different order. So is this the ultimate route to win the seemingly unwinnable microscope puzzle?
0:01 the menu music sounds different, like OG sounds mysterious and eerie, but this one is just creepy. In fact now that I think about it, the whole soundtrack in this version sounds way different than the other versions, sounding the same but with different tones and digital instrumentals. Do any of you think that?
@TimMer1981 there was a mix of OPL2 and Redbook audio in the original. Fm synthesis sounds dated today, but this remaster softens the weirdness a little too much imo.

This game still rocks and holds up even now
The 90s, where every game intro was told through a book turning pages then a slow fade
I remember my family playing this game when I was kid. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for the memory.
Did you manage to get all the way through the game?
@@williamcrowe2576 I did play it to the end once.
@@deananderson6896 And which ending did you get?
@@williamcrowe2576 just the usual one you save the boy. I didn't know there is more then one ending.
@@deananderson6896 Well, there's a good ending and there's a bad ending. It depends on how well you do, I guess.
I've always appreciated the various smoker's laughs throughout the ghost cut scenes.
The 7th Guest is one of my favorite video games of all times. I'm so glad to see this up on your channel. Cheers, World of Longplays! 🍻

"The 11th Hour" next~
One of my favorite old PC games. Got the original.
Great game, played it on a Philips CDi back in the day :)
What about Hotel Mario and the Zelda “Triforce of Evil” games..?
When I got my CD-i this was the first game I played on it, I allways enjoyed the CD-i version most
Ahhh, the 90's...

That puzzle frustrated me as well though you didn’t have to complete it
I solved it by myself when I first played the game but I used a guide for this video. I don't know if there's a better way to solve it.
I never beat this game but it was dope
wow my favourite game in 90s
Which way do I go know.(this game was just CREEPY)

I think this is the General Midi soundtrack, instead of the CD audio most of us are used to.
@@TimMer1981 so like, different hardware music channels?

@@Wobbothe3rd so I was right! It is different hardware sound channels.
This game has a trippy look to it!
when PC were powerful enough to play compressed videos, but not powerful enough to render 3d scenes in real time.
Как же давно это было)))
My dad used to play this game when I was little.
Yo tbn jugue este juego cuando era pequeña. Me encantaba! A mi y mi hermano mayor
We need this and the 11th Hour remade
No, really no, but we could use a sequel to them.
1:07:08 stuck on the microscope puzzle on my ps5, it's hard has hell. How do you do the puzzle
Do the same moves and you'll beat it
As far as I know this is the first pre rendered 3d game
I played this thing many times 😊
¿You will also do that of the hour 11 ???
Maybe in the future
@@afigureinblackaek39 Shodan?!?

Agreed
