I'm 33, not much of a foodie, and can just about make an omlette, but I can't help but get a little misty-eyed hearing this theme again after all these years.

Haven't heard this in years, plus the opening title with the egg yolk slowly crashing down into the flour (the one thing that reminds me of Masterchef) just couldn't find this anywhere. Brings back a lot of memories for me.

The original series of Masterchef outclasses the new Masterchef by a longshot in taste and smile seeing the new Masterchef leaves a bitter taste in my mouth
I know what you mean. The modern show is all about egos, becoming famous and opening your own restaurant. The fact that this focused on amateurs and home cooking (as the title suggested) made this far more real than any “reality” TV we have now. It is a sedate watch, but I enjoy it.

The most dramatic way to make batter ever.
This was somehow always on sunday afternoons on bbc1 as a kid.
Theme tune always reminded me of the Sunday evening feeling you had as a kid knowing that It would be bedtime soon and up next morning for school.
