  • When Musab embraced Islam, he lost everything he had of this world. And long after he lost his life for that same cause, the companions themselves would regularly be brought to tears remembering his sacrifices.

    Summary:
-Every prophet was given 7 disciples while Muhammad PBUH was given 14, among them was Musab.
-Musab ibn Umair was extremely handsome and resembled the Prophet PBUH very much.
-Mother: Khunas Bint Maalik, Father: Umair ibn Hashim
-He had two half brothers from his father's side.
-He was the only son of her mother.
-Musab's wealth was half of the Makkans wealth. He was the trendsetter of Makkah and only a teenager.
-He heard about Dar-ul-Arqam ,went secretly there and accepted Islam. He became a regular attendee of Dar-ul-Arqam and Prophet PBUH allowed Mus'ab ra to keep his Islam private.
-Uthman ibn Talhah caught him practising his Islam and told his mother. His mother was in complete denial until he himself said that he accepted Islam.
-She imprisoned him but didn't beat him.
-He used to recite the Quran in a beautiful voice.
-He escaped secretly with the first batch to Abyssinia.
-He married Hamnah bint Jahash(sister of Zaynab Bint Jahash).
-Mus'ab came back to Makkah on hearing the rumor(i.e.,Makkans had become muslims).
-He first visited Prophet PBUH and then her mother.
-Her mother was reluctant to give him even a single dirham if he didn’t renounce his islam.
-11th year after Hijrah, Prophet PBUH along with Abu Bakr and Ali ra gave dawah to those who came for Hajj. Among them were six young men from Yathrib(Madinah) who accepted Islam and asked for someone who could teach them Islam. Prophet PBUH sent Mus'ab.
-Musab ra was entrusted with Asad ibn Zurarah(Ansar).
-Usaid Bin Hudair wanted Mus'ab ra to leave Madinah but when Musab recited the Quran, he accepted Islam.
-Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and Saʽd ibn Ubadah from Yathrib accepted Islam. So, many people from Yathrib embraced Islam.
-Mus'ab ra saw Prophet PBUH the next year at Hajj and brought seventy Ansars with him. Prophet PBUH was amazed.
-We are now the ambassadors of Islam, no matter what media shows about us we can make people fall in love with the Prophet PBUH just like Musab ra did.
-Musab was the flag bearer(highly honorable task)at Badr and Uhud.
-In the beginning of the Battle of Uhud, muslims completely devastated the Meccans but when the table got turned Musab went away from the Prophet PBUH and shouted Allahu Akbar again and again so that Meccans will go for him, not the Prophet PBUH.
-Abdullah Ibn Kami'ah cuts Musab's right hand, Musab got down, picked the flag with his left hand and started shouting again Allahu Akbar, ibn Kamiah cuts his left hand, Musab ra picks up the flag from what remained and then ibn Kamiah killed him. He had around 70 wounds when he died.
-Everyone was grief-stricken about Musab ra.
-He had a daughter named Zaynab.
-Prophet PBUH said to visit the martyrs of Uhud frequently and give salaam to them because they will return our salaam.
-Musab ra gave everything for Allah but didn't enjoy anything of the dunya.

    "The truth has consequences"
How true this is and how long it took for me to come to terms with this. And then when I look at consequences I had to face to be more publicly Muslims (that too mostly among other muslims) vs what the sahaba went through, I am ashamed of calling my struggles that
How I can barely risk my reputation, or risk a judgement made about me by another person vs being ready to lose all your wealth, your family and loved ones, your life of ease, both your arms and your whole life. I am in awe. I always knew we could never compare to the companions (radiaAllāhu 'anhom) but it just really hit me, how our biggest of struggles will probably never even come close to their smallest, and no matter how hard we try, their rank near Allah is undisputed.

Allahu Akbar I replayed this series 3 times and Subhanallah missed things each time. No one did justice to explaining this story of Musab RA like Sheikh did. Ya Allah when I visited the graves of shuhadaa of Uhud my heart & body trembled with tears knowing the sacrifices of Hamza RA & Musab bin Umair RA including the companions lost in the battle. May we foster the love for akhirah & restablish our love of this world by sacrificing that which we love of this dunya for the pleasure of Allah.
Jazaakallahu khairan Sheikh my eyes are smothered with tears, it as if I heard this for the 1st time yet it’s my 4th.

May Allah SWT give us an ounce of the determination and ability to sacrifice that this sahaba showed for his deen. May Allah SWT make our hearts less attached to the things of the dhunya and more attached to the righteous path and earning the pleasure of our Rabb. Ameen Allahumma Ameen.

Prophet Muhammad PBUH stood beside Musab's body and recited: "Among the believers are men who have been true to what they have pledged to God.[23] The Messenger of God testifies that you are martyrs in the sight of God." When Mus'ab's wife, Hammanah bint Jahsh, heard about the death of her brother and maternal uncle, she replied, "To Allah we belong and to him we will verily return. I ask Allah's forgiveness for him." But when she heard about the death of her husband Mus'ab, she shouted and cried.[10]

Reflection: an important lesson here I think. In certain part of the world, some teachers of Islam enjoy their own praise and following in a way that they become cults. I think hz Musaab shows how to spread the message and not get caught up in their own praise but only Allah and the verse.

    Masha Allah very beautiful lecture.
This makes me realize that we're actually in the position of musab ibn umaire.
Like, how he made madina prepared for khilafa when islam was totally powerless and then the khilafa was established.
We, Muslims, are now powerless. But we can get our position and dignity back only by reestablishing what is needed.

InshAllah about Mus'ab we will discuss some points in his life and their impacts in Islam. Indeed the conversation of Madinah/Yathreeb along with Sa'ad as well as Hudhair almost single handedly by him is among the greatest achievements done by The Companions till that time. Never in the entirety of humanity a city most welcomed it guest as Rasoolulah (SAW) is most welcomed by the people of Madinah with the landmark song we sing till today and till forever "Tala'al Badru Aleyna". Do you know why it is the greatest, it not only about the compassion and euphoria but most important is because they eagerly waited and welcomed Rasoolulah (SAW) as a guiding moon rising from a valley for the life in this world and most importantly for their life in the hear after and have such a love for Him (SAW) without even seeing him once before but because of what Mus'ab and other few Muhajiroons told them all about Him (SAW). That is and will be the greatest reception of the greatest and most noble creation of Allah, Al Mustapha, Rasoolulah (SAW), and it will be forever. May The All-Mighty so very greatly bless the effort of Mus'ab and the people of Madinah. Ameen. Indeed his efforts and the reception of the people of Madinah is among the greatest events in the history of Islam as well as Madinah. Every great success of Islam and the foundation of Islam as a nation comes afterwards. Building the first mosque, Badr, establishing Islamic rituals and laws, building a caliphate...all come afterwards. And opening Madinah to be the base and city of the prophet is mainly accomplished in it's early years almost due to the effort of Mus'ab (RA). That's one out of the many reasons why Rasoolulah (SAW) even cried more when He (SAW) saw the body of Mus'ab than when He (SAW) saw the mutilated body of His (SAW) most beloved uncle and the lion of Islam Hamza (RA).
May The All-Mighty Allah grant us with His mercy to meet them in Jannah! Ameen.

This is the beauty of Islam.. these are the practises we should be applying to our lives. These examples of Islam and the Prophet Mohammed is what attracts all people from all different walk of life to Islam. We all as muslims have to show the world the true face of Islam.. even if your neighbour Is a non Muslim we should check on them help them if they are old make sure they have food help them cut there grass if it needs cutting do there shopping for them as these are all examples we taught by our Prophet and always show good manners and when the media make up false claims and lies about Islam the people will already know its lies and what's being said on the news Is all lies as they would have seen the beauty of Islam and the behaviour of muslims.. we all have a duty to do all that we can to improve the reputation of muslims and Islam and prove the stereotypes are untrue.. this is jihad for us I believe

May Allah swt reward you abundantly Dr. Omar Sulaiman, for these wonderful stories of the Sahabah (رضي الله عنهم أجمعين), and the wonderful way you narrate them! Alhamdulillah that Allah swt doesn’t leave this Ummah without great scholars who can take us back to how it was during the time of our Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وسلم), and to remind and encourage us back to the way of the Salaf. Jazakallaho Khairan Katheeran.
