The whole concert is insane. The two performances in Paris were filmed with over 40 cameras. It took the editor and producer of the concert Bluray about two years to "compose" this masterpiece.
It is a play on German wedding vows; however, it can be interpreted many different ways. The first lines of the song can have a double meaning; the phrases Du hast and Du hasst mean You have (me) and You hate (me), respectively. Du You du hast you have du hast mich you have me du hast mich gefragt you have asked me du hast mich gefragt, you have asked me und ich hab nichts gesagt and I have said nothing Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet Do you want, until death seperates you, treu ihr sein für alle Tage to be faithful to her for all days Nein No Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide Do you want, until death, which would seperate, sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen to love her, even in bad days Nein No There is another sort of double meaning here. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the vagina" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning. This is a favourite song of mine, especially when working out. Oh, one more thing. Till Lindermann, the lead singer, is a certified pyro-technician.
Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide Do you want, until death, which would seperate, sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen to love her, even in bad days Wrong translation. 😆
that is not true. They say Du Hast, not Du Hasst. This is a misinterpretation started by someone that does not understand what they are saying. This is patently not true. Even Til Lindemann has come out to say please stop this...
"Du. Du hast. Du hast mich. In its opening chant of You. You have. You have me, “Du Hast” released by Rammstein in 1997 was a breakout song for the German industrial band." “Du Hast” = Band Loyalty “This song is actually about a kind of loyalty,” said Kruspe. “We see Rammstein like a kind of family. We have a strong awareness, a strong sense of tradition in this band. And for me, this song is a bit like that promise of faith we know from weddings, that’s kind of been integrated into this family"
They play in the states a lot and they're pyrotechnics are actually quite a bit bigger than what the video had. And the crowd is that loud every concert, insane.
Til (Lead Singer) is licenced pyrotechnitian, that blood is actually protective gel from burns, everything is real except that lightning, this concert is best concert in history of live performance ❤️❤️❤️
Rammstein is often doing a play on words which have a double meaning in german. Regarding to this song you can " listen/read " it in two ways. That " Du hast " would mean " You have ". But " Du hasst " ( with two s ) means " You hate ". But only when the whole sentence is sung, you realize the exact meaning. Because only singing " Du has(s)t " can mean both but once that whole sentence is sung: " Du hast mich gefragt... " ( meaning: " You have asked me..." ) the real meaning becomes clear. The false lead comes also by singing and repeating " Du has(s)t mich. " This sentence alone would mean " You hate me ". But following it with " Du hast mich.....gefragt " it changes towards " You have asked me..."
This song was originally released in '97; but, went on the MATRIX soundtrack even though it didn't make the movie. They seem to have picked them but I'm guessing cut the part they played in if they were in the movie at all. At any rate, it made the soundtrack and added to Ramstein's fame. In 1998 they performed on the 'family values' tour with Limp Bizkit and Korn.. they opened the show. Think about that for a moment.. this is the last band on the planet you'd ever want opening for you. They punched it so hard the fans were bored with the other two acts and they were primarily fans of the other two acts. Korn and Limp Bizkit were actually getting bood by their own fans. This group is nutso good in terms of their production and stage presence. I don't know if I could say I like their stuff. Du Hast just has that driving beat that is insane good and counterbalanced with the whimsey of the keyboards which is to my mind a stroke of genius. And you're right.. this is a hit. I know some German and I don't need to know any at all to know this is a 6 alarm fire of a song. It's just so good. I love the Matrix soundtrack and played it till I wore it out.. but my favorite cut on the album was always this followed by Clubbed to death. Opposite ends of the musical spectrum and a smorgusboard for the ears. Cheers!!!
Interested in the lyrics? The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times). Want to watch more videos from Rammstein? I have a "few" suggestions. If you want to see their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence) Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden) Du hast (live from Paris) Engel (live from Madison Square Garden) Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017) Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden) Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016) Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious) Mein Teil (live at Hurricane Festival 2013) Amazing official videos Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm! Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background) Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad Mein Herz brennt (My heart burns) scary, nightmarish, very special Amerika (America) catchy, not a love song Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album: Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view) Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together. For many of Rammstein's videos there are English subtitles available. To find a lot of them, you may search on TH-cam for: "educated marine rammstein" + songname For live videos of Rammstein songs, www.youtube.com/@Bucksttabu/playlists is a good source. In case of Rammstein, precise translations of the lyrics is hard work (and sometimes not possible in subtitles), because they are playing many times with double meanings of words or slightly modify common German expressions and symbolic language pictures to invert or change their meanings. (That is even used in the very simple lyrics of "Du hast".) I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.
I've seen these guys live twice, Download festival 2013 and 2016. They hands down stole the show with the pyro and showmanship. Even outshone Slipknot in 2013, which is hard to do.. Their performance of Mein Teil is a great one to watch live
du hast isn’t even in their top, just their song more famous. you should watch one of their latest music video like zeit, a masterpiece ❤ or a live : ich tu dir weh madison square garden
Not sure how they pulled off the flare gun, but the fireworks that return are probably on a wire. They go down towards the middle and back up towards the stage.
About the fire: you ain't seen nothing yet 😉 Rammstein are notorious being the most pyromaniac band on earth 😂 Seriously, during their live performances they're setting EVERYTHING on fire, themselves, the stage, a whole f****g stadium... For a little taste of it, check out the video "10 craziest Rammstein moments", and then continue with the live shows 😉 And if you're searching for a song by them that really gets you pumped for a workout, listen to "Feuer frei"😉
Du Hast in Germany means. Du Har. in Swedish and if i translate that to English. You have. Then if the translation to your American english is Hate on. Du Hast. And the lovely thing is that it is a. FRANCE Public as singing Du Hast.. France people as only talking france standing her and sing in german language...trye say HELLO to a France in a france town 😮 they just look at you and walk on 😮
When the pyro starts popping off, and Gabe said lawsuit waiting to happen, their wouldnt be, Rammstein fans know whats happening. React to Deutschland, Sonne, Adieu, Dicke Titten. These are some of their more popular songs, aside from Adieu which is their latest single.
like dude said, if it sounds like something we normall sing or assume thats what it is being said.... The ENGLISH Version of the son is translated to hate, but BAST Actually does mean HAVE. Hasse is the german Word for hate,,,, as in Ich Hasse Kinder ( Which is sung by Til Linndemann who is leader sing of Rammstein....)... As you can see this is a "DIrector's cut" So obviously audio and visual has been enhanced,,, but thedy recently did a world stadium toiur last year and the performance for Fu Hast is pretty much same, except the ver you watched was done in 90'2m kast concert tour for them was last year si some live shows now have drone footage and if your cant find live shows from last year you can see how fireworks / pyrotechinics really look at live shows.... As I stated before this iis a live prefirmance done when they just came out back in the 90's... check out their official videos... or check out Tils s other band .... live performance incorporates their music video's ... th-cam.com/video/CNAf1h4QEkY/w-d-xo.html Google Rammstein's last 3 albums and watch any ofical vido from their website and there should be subtitles ( Chnage in settings to english).... if you haven't seen any of thier offical videos from 2019... you better bring extra underwear or a box of diapers.... you'll be shitting bricks... ) :)
“Hast” or “Hasst”? "The close pronunciation between du hast (you have) and du hasst (you hate), plays on two meanings throughout the song-Du hast mich (you have me) and Du hasst mich (you hate me)." "Hast" and "Hasst" sound very much alike but there is a slight difference in pronunciation . If there is 1 consonant after the vowel it gets a long vowel sound if there's 2 or more it gets the short vowel sound. So "Hast" has long vowel sound and "Hasst" has a short vowel sound. So "Hast" would sound more like "Haast." "Hasst" would just be pronounced like a short"a"(ah) sound "Hast"
Honestly I hate the false translation … the way the Songtitel is written means „You have / got me“! Du hasst mich… with 2 S means you hate me but that‘s not the Songtitel. The double meaning comes from the reference to the Words he sings cause the words are dedicated to a priest speach on a wedding. Like … death will do us apart … thank me later 😀
just answering before the song starts. i got a strange feeling, like ... oh we jump on the rammstein train .... and what will happen ... exactly what i expectet. you both dont show anything just dollars in your eyes. well .. thats american culture, i dont blame you for that... but i blame you for not beeing true to music. nothing more to say. greetings

There is another sort of double meaning here. Well said. Ive tried to explain it, but, Im always way to stoned to get it right. Lololol Im stoned now obviously.
Tks for the run thru 🙂

Love Rammstein, love their use of pyrotechnics. Lindermann is actually a licensed pyrotechnician
@@ThatKeterScp you sure it's not lindemann x
The whole band are licensed pyro technicians
So, so much amazing stuff here!! Both videos and live´s! They are not only musicians - they are artists!
crazy performance, the hall is raging and fireworks are flying through the air.👊🤘👌👍💥🎆
Check out their live performance of Engel from Madison Square Garden. Another great show!

He does have fake blood though, from the earlier song where they tried to cook the keyboard player in a huge pot! 😆
You should check out the videos from their concert in Madison Square Garden, which was, btw, sold out in 15 minutes. They do a lot of pyro there too.

Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden)
Du hast (live from Paris)

Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017)
Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden)
Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016)
Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious)
Mein Teil (live at Hurricane Festival 2013)
Amazing official videos
Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale
Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march
Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity
Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm!
Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background)
Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad
Mein Herz brennt (My heart burns) scary, nightmarish, very special
Amerika (America) catchy, not a love song
Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album:
Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional
Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny
Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view)
Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional
Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together.
For many of Rammstein's videos there are English subtitles available. To find a lot of them, you may search on TH-cam for: "educated marine rammstein" + songname

One of my favourite songs ever. And one of the most reviewed songs as well. Such is its international appeal. They sure know how to put on a show.
Next maybe Rammstein - Feuer Frei (Fire at will).... that's a workout song if ever there was
Ich liebe Rammstein 😍
I've seen these guys live twice, Download festival 2013 and 2016. They hands down stole the show with the pyro and showmanship. Even outshone Slipknot in 2013, which is hard to do.. Their performance of Mein Teil is a great one to watch live
I honestly can't imagine any guitar solos on this otherwise great song.
Any guitar solo would only slow down this constant mad beat.
More Rammstein!!!!!!!
Have you seen "Fuer Frei" and "Benzin" of Rammstein? Insane next level...
Gabe - They shoot a bigger flare gun in MSG and in LA, it's not loosey-goosey Europe. This band kills it all over the world.
Therefore Rammstein is the best live band in the world by far and the greatest metal / rock Show on the road in these days
du hast isn’t even in their top, just their song more famous. you should watch one of their latest music video like zeit, a masterpiece ❤ or a live : ich tu dir weh madison square garden

I just came across your channel. This performance reminds me of "Mad Max" and "The Matrix " Sending love and peace from Canada 🇨🇦
Boom💥
Not my cup of tea , however two of my friends are kind of obsessed with Rammstein 😈
For a workout playlist try "Links 2 3 4"

And remember, that is a FRENCH crowd all yelling in german.
German lesson: "Du hast mich..." = you have me, "Du hasst mich ..." = you hate me: in german ist sounds the same, but is very different meaning
