  • In this episode, Dana and Dan discuss "The City on the Edge of Forever" which is possibly the best episode in the original series. The guys talk about how McCoy changes the course of history, who Edith Keeler is, and how a strange being called The Guardian helps Kirk and Spock attempt to set the timeline back in order. They ponder the meaning of time, wonder why Englebert Humperdinck was so popular when this episode was broadcast, and talk about whale poop. Yep, it's time to get the ramble jar out again...

This is by far my favorite episode. Well written and still holds up to the test of time. I could see them making a full modernized movie of this. Didn't know Star Fleet trained it's medical personal to use the transporter and apparently the bum who vaporized himself had no contributions to society. Imagine if they didn't have that tricorder. I will always remember feeling sad for Jim Kirk. Powerful words from the Captain as they beamed back up. "Let's get the hell out of here". Don't know how they got away with that one back in the 60s. You could see the hurt in his face. Shatner really played that emotion. I always wondered how the conversation went after they got back to the ship about what happened.

I think he’s a supreme being and the comments he made at the end to me was more poignant because he treated it as it was treating time travel as triviality and that pissed Kirk off even more and gives his let’s get the hell outta here even more gravitates. Even though it a great story I though the thinking was to linear 1) they could have explained to her she’s right but has to wait after the 50’s but that would be consider violating the Prime directive ,2) they could have taken her with them since she wasn’t gonna have an contributions after 1930, there was a series of books that dealt with the ramifications of the failure of saving Ms Keeler.
