Good morning!! I'm going back and catching up on your first videos and so happy you retrieved your goats! I feel your pain of BAD neighbors!! I'm sure morals and standards, respect and manners were taught in every corner of the world! It's sad that A LOT didn't take time to learn these precious life lessons! See you back in the future...I feel like I'm time traveling!! The kids are so small compared to today!!😂

Patience, fortitude and resolve are just some of your many fine qualities unlike some of those that chose to try and live off others, and cheat and steal. Keep going, you guys have got this 💪✊

Can't forget this day, look how little Eli is, lol 😆 I must say you guys are incredible. To think that you and Josh had No experience building a house 🏘️ A-Frame is amazing to me. Him being an electrician I bet helped a great deal on getting things turned on. You guys made building that A-Frame look easy, I know it wasn't , mistakes were made but still it's just amazing to me. God bless you guys.

Going back and catching up. This is the earliest video I've seen. Only discovered you when Mike Morgan stopped on a recent trip and visited at the cafe a couple weeks ago. Have watched a lot of you since then. BEST WISHES,

This video was shot back in the day when you all lived in the camper. Joss working 10 hour days and yet finishes an A-frame within 2 years. That's dedication. Sorry to hear about the theft issues. When you made this video, you didn't realize how fortunate you would be in 2 years.

I really connected with what you said in this video. It's given me a boost of confidence with the projects my wife and I have been working on. The way you speak of the true homesteaders and how lucky you feel to have access to water and electricity, even if it's not easy to come by, is how I feel looking at you guys. Going forward I will think of those homesteaders and you guys and the hard work you've done to achieve your goals. Starting to watch your vids from the beginning. Looking forward to watching your adventures.

When I had watched this the first time I didn't comment..mostly because I was mad some idiots did that to you, but will this time to say, anyone else going through this, instead of a guard dog(which isn't the right time for them to get now) get a couple or a few Guinea Fowl, they get real protective of the things on "their land" and make a racket like crazy..almost like a alarm system..if something strange comes around, they also protect kids like crazy, and will fight to the death w/a venomous snake to protect one. They stay in the area, and get along with almost every farm animal..Plus NOTHING cleans pests and parasites better than fowl, they literally don't need to be fed in 3 seasons as they will eat every spider..every tick and so on, so are a great addition to a property.

Been following you for the last year or so and decided to go back to your beginnings on this journey. I really needed to hear your message in this video. I am moving onto my very rural property in about 5 months and there is zero infrastructure, so it was good to hear that it will not be easy. There will be struggles. And that is just part of building the dream. Thank you! You guys have come so far since this video and I'm so happy that it's all going well for you. Keep crushing it. Lifelong fan here.....

Man I feel for you!!! I don't let ppl into my house anymore because when I did they were scoping me out figuring what they
could steal the moment I had to go somewhere all the while smiling and acting the good neighbor routine. I finally came
to the conclusion that if they don't know what I have then they don't know they want to steal it. Works for me even tho some
neighbors might think I'm weird and secluded at least I'm not missing stuff....well they have been taking my flower pots
lately but those are easy to replace. My well wishes go out to you and yours. Me, southern AZ.

OMG has it been 6 years since you began this journey. I started watching your channel when covid first started and my job allowed me to work from home. I was interested in those living off grid which is how I found your channel now I feel as though you are my TV family. And look at your homestead now just amazing. A couple of things on my wish list for your are an inground pool and a sawmill to turn all of those trees into lumber you can use.

Just started watching your videos and I love them. I've watched from clearing the land to finishing the roof sheeting. Your "theft on the homestead" video, as disappointing as the theft was, was really interesting to hear. BTW, you and your daughter are just beautiful. Keep up the hard work and videos. FYI, I also have done my time living in an RV, no well or septic, hauling water (in a 250 gallon tote like yours and on a car trailer like yours). But I'm single and not raising kids, goats, chickens, food, etc.

    • @onetimeemail
      @onetimeemail 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Additional to my first comment, I also built my building while living in the RV. Now I have well, septic and electricity which makes life so much easier. I'm a retired electrician that worked long hours so I can relate to your partner. Thanks, Dean.

My wife and I lived on a sailboat in the Carribean for 5 years. We always would go out on the deck to shower. Freshwater was a valuable item. Rain day was always a pasta day because we could fill the big pot. After you have lived with limited water and even more limited hot water. From now on you always cherish the easy access you have to those items in your new home. Happy and safe building. I'm assuming you are home schooling your children. I've watched most of your video,s but not in order.

Wow. I got a good chuckle out of your showering in the rain. My brothers and I used to put up hay for local farmers when we lived in Tennessee. Occasionally, the sky would dump on us at the end of the day. If it did, we got a natural shower. If not, we got our baths in the river. But that was way back in the 70's. Either one sure beats chlorine and flouride soaking into your pours. Kudos to you, Josh. You're a hard workin' young man. Meat chickens? Free range? Dang. I bet they make a great tasting stew. Goats? If ya feed em' good non-gmo grain with molasses and oats, along with a good Alfalfa hay, their milk is fantastic. They also make great burritos. Quite an awesome lean meat. Gotta love it.

keep your chin up young lady and don't let anybody get you down these things are sent to try us we went through the same I bought a Rottweiler named Jack lovely dog, and later on, he went for stud and we had the pick of the litter we called his son Rocky and he was just the same temperament as is dad they were great with children and very protective of them but we never got anybody thieving from us I know you have a little dog, but you might in the future think about a dog or dogs that will truly look after you especially at night they can hear, see, and smell much better than we can there is a lot to be said for a good protector you will sleep much better GOD BLESS all of you.

David Riley I know this is old but wow, I can see how upset she is. We had two Chow/Lab (unrelated rescues) who were very protective and great at alerting us when anyone came through our almost always closed gate. Usually it was a friend just stopping by (pre cell phone) but sometimes it was someone who thought it was perfectly fine to open the electric gate (screwing up the mechanism) and come on in. Cameras were expensive at the time but I suspect an older neighbor would see us leave and come over to see what was up. It was disconcerting to know someone had been there while we were gone.

We have been homesteading for 14 years now, with no running water, no electricity, so I know what you are dealing with. I love it though. We moved two years to a different home stead and recently now twice we gave had men on our property trying to break in our camper and the poisoned our dog. We do have deer cam's up and the police won't do anything about them. We also have no trespassing signs up. So we will have to take care of ourselves. It is great you have some great neighbors

I just started to follow you and I have seen how far ahead you are from this video. One thing I am worried about your house so far - and now that I watched this video of you talking about safety and security is... I believe that a window so close to your front door is not very safe. It look that the distance make it easy for anybody to break the window and reach for the door knob. It is not my intention to criticize you, I am just concerned. I can't wait to see the house complete. My husband and I watch together and admire your endurance and commitment. We used to remodel our houses ourselves and we know how hard it can be.

I feel for you guys, I know it's rough, and then on top of all that you have to deal with Trespassers and thieves that have no respect for other peoples property. You definitely should invest in a German Sheppard, they are awesome and very intelligent. In Vietnam they can smell the VC a long way off, and they are fearless, they will die to protect you guys. Please stay safe. God Bless your whole family.

Hello, I just found your site this evening. I admire what you and your husband are doing and wish you the best. I read some of the comments about getting a dog. At first, I thought that would be a great idea but with your comment of poison oak, I would advise against it because I know that the dog will run everywhere on your property and probably end up encountering the poison oak. Thank you for sharing your story with us and I look forward to watching the rest of the videos.

William Kraft They can work on eradicating the poison oak in the fall when it turns color. I think a couple of guard dogs is a great idea. They will come home every once and a while needing a bath because they tangled with a skunk or had an encounter with a porcupine but between the love and protection you get I think they are well worth the trouble.

Evacuated tube solar water heaters, this will give you very hot water for most the year and at the end of the day it will be its hottest. This is what I plan to do when I go off grid. Just a thought. Love you guy's great you tube channel.
