I have been a Lead Singer and musician most of my like and quite successful at both, from years in Vegas to touring literally everywhere. With that being said, in my humble opinion, this band is a perfect example of "Chemistry". Yes, they have chemistry between the Human members of the band, but the chemistry I am more specifically referring to, is the chemistry between the Lyrics and the Music. The lyrica and the music are seamless together, then add in the Lead singer delivering those lyrics with this band seamlessly playing the music. The RIGHT SINGER singing THE RIGHT WORDS to THE RIGHT MUSIC played by THE RIGHT MUSICIANS. Anyone remember a little group called the Beatles ?? Same four-way chemistry, just different genre of music and therefor a different sound. But the reason they were so great is because they had several members who sang "certain" songs. So they always had the right singer, singing the right words, while the right written music, was played by the right musicians. While I am at it, "Music Lesson 101". For a song to sell more than a handful of copies and be played on more than a few stations and only for a very short period of time, they must do one of these three things " Make you think, make you feel or make you move. If they do at least two of those universally, they will have a "Moderate Hit", which sells well and gets good air play. If they do all three of these, they will ALWAYS be a TOP TEN HIT. And if they do all ten with INTENSITY, they will ALWAYS, at some point or time, be a NUMBER ONE HIT, at least for a while. You can go back through ALL SONGS in ANY GENRE and this will be true. Now, a good example of songs doing all three, making you think about something, making you feel something and making you move, but having different levels of TOP TEN SUCCESS : "Black Velvet" and "Royals". Two songs in the same genre, by female singers, contemporary themes. The "difference" between them, which made "Black Velvet" a much larger hit, even inspiring several covers of the song ?? They both made you move, both made you think about the topic that there songs were about and both made you feel definitively about what the song was about. But "Royals" topic of "class separation and differences" evoked nowhere near the kind of "thought and emotion" as did a song about one of the most influential singers of all time, who died much too soon, who himself spanned all genres and all classes with his music. Music which is even covered today on shows like The Voice and American Idol. While an example of a song that did all three, but became huge mostly because of how it made you move, "Funky Town". Class dismissed. Now go and enjoy the hell out of music. Oh, check out this new young kid out of Louisiana, Laine Hardy.

Saw these guys in Eugene, OR a couple weeks ago, and heard them play this song live... It was an absolutely tremendous performance, they put so much energy into this song especially. Very different from how it's done in this recording, but it's so beautiful both ways.
