    Just do 1.25 speed and the tone and energy is perfect. Keep up with the good work and don’t be discouraged. You did a good overview of the machine!

    Hi. Simple question. If I buy this machine, I will need to remove the cup rail front the top panel in order to slide it underneath my kitchen cabinet. Can someone confirm me it this rail is soldered / riveted to the panel or if it is holding only with screw easily removable from under? Thank's. Louis

    • @ericvtutube
      @ericvtutube 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure it is soldered, but in order to access that rail you'd need to open the machine, remove the top plate and dismantle the rail. you'd end up with 4 apparent holes. I haven't opened mine to see if that's doable.

    Not super helpful in terms of the pros and cons of the machine or use. I was just looking at the dual boiler model of this machine and was looking forward to a more in-depth review of the unit rather than an unboxing and first impressions.

      The way I see it right now, the UNO version is actually superior for me... Steam seams to actually be better ton the UNO and the only "advantage" on the DUO would be that you are able to steam milk (badly) before or during the espresso vs. "after the espresso" on the UNO...

      @@leigh3850 Update: Very happy with the Uno! Heating up the steam takes like 1 minute after you draw the espresso, by the time you filled the milk jug you're ready to roll!

    Reservoir capacity on the Uno is only 48 ozs (1.4L) not 2L as you said. I believe the Duo is about 2L.

    This machine draws over 17 amps (120v version). Does it have a standard 15amp power cord, or a 20 amp cord with one of the prongs turned sideways? I was close to buying this machine until I looked further into this.

    A few warnings: The new Steel series apparently has an issue with malfunctioning OPV valves. My machine gave me 18-20 bars of pressure and adjusting the valve did absolutely nothing. Other buyers reported similar problems on forums. Any liquid that doesn't go through the drip tray's grate rolls back inside the machine, near the mechanical and electrival components, through the crack between the tray housing and the front panel. Can't be good. Many of the edges are unfinished and I cut my fingers several times trying to to remove the drip tray. Because of these problems, I returned my machine.

    Do you have recommendations for the length of single/double shot pours? I've been trying to get mine just right. I thought something like 10 secs for a single and 15 for a double sounded right but it seems to be doing this thing when it starts pulling where it's on for a few secs, then off, then back on again after a couple more secs. Thoughts?

    • @DSB1234567890
      @DSB1234567890 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The typical recommendation is 25 seconds as a starting point for shot length, whether it's a double or a single. This is counting from when you start the shot, not when the first liquid comes out. Of course you should tune this by taste - too sour, grind finer so it takes longer to get the same volume. Too bitter, vice versa.
      The on-off-on thing sounds like pre infusion, check that in the machine instructions.

    What diameter tamper would fit more snuggly on the ridged 14g non-pressurized basket? I find the standard tamper still doesn't leave clean edges even on the larger "a" side as mentioned in the video.

    • @stefdriver
      @stefdriver 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought an aftermarket 58mm tamper and it fits very snugly. Never used the Ascaso one because I read reviews stating the supplied tamper was a wonky size.

      @@SammyEatsYourBrain99 I am planning to get a new espresso machine and I was wondering about get a machine with e61, but you raised a really valid point. Takes up to 45 min to heat up the machine.

    • @hifimacianer
      @hifimacianer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you get a E61 for that price, with all it's limitations. Much longer heat up times, a lot more energy consumption over the day, because you often don't shut it down between shots (because re-heating takes so long), maintenance is not simple (classic descaling should be avoided on E61), you have older water in the boiler, that is re-heatet over and over again that is used for the steam. Thermoblocks always use fresh water for coffee, hot water, and steam.
