    This is a very good instructional video. Thanks for the upload. I do however have questions about refitting the belt, does it need special attention to tension it correctly?

    Hello, I have just replaced my water pump and seal for my golf as well.
    It did not come with plastic thermostat housing assembly .
    Had to use old one is this fine?
    Currently coolant seems fine

      Great job on replacing the water pump and seal! If your coolant levels are holding steady and there are no leaks, reusing the old plastic thermostat housing can be fine, provided it's still in good condition. 🔧
      However, it's important to keep an eye on it because older plastic housings can become brittle over time and might develop cracks or leaks under pressure. If you start noticing coolant loss or temperature irregularities, it might be a good idea to replace the thermostat housing as well for peace of mind.
      Glad everything is working well for now, and feel free to reach out if you have more questions! 🚗👍 #VWGolf #CoolingSystem #DIYMechanic

      @@SanuMotorswithCharlie thank you for the reply,
      I got the part from GSF,
      the water pump only came with the metal water pump, toothed belt and seal gasket.
      Strangely no thermostat housing, just had to use existing one.

    • @SanuMotorswithCharlie
      @SanuMotorswithCharlie  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s not unusual for some water pump kits to only include the metal pump, toothed belt, and seal gasket without the thermostat housing. Reusing the existing thermostat housing is perfectly fine as long as it's in good condition and doesn't show signs of wear or cracking. 🔧
      Just keep an eye on it for any leaks or issues down the line, and you should be good to go! Thanks again for sharing your insights, and feel free to reach out if you need any more advice. 🚗👍 #WaterPumpReplacement #DIYCarRepair #GSFAutoparts

    Hi! Very nice video!!
    I'm having the same issue in my skoda fabia II 1.6 2011, but, besides de water pump, the mechanic said that there are also leak in the coolant's antifreeze piece, and that he need to put out all the motor to fix it. It is an expensive repair, is there another way to check this issue and an alternative fixing?
    Thank you, greetings from Colombia.

    • @SanuMotorswithCharlie
      @SanuMotorswithCharlie  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Thank you for reaching out and your kind words!
      If your Skoda Fabia II 1.6 (2011) has a coolant leak beyond just the water pump-particularly from the antifreeze container or other related components-the repair can be complex. However, here are a few suggestions before going for a full engine removal:
      1. **Thorough Inspection with UV Dye**: Ask your mechanic if they can use a UV dye to locate the exact source of the leak. This can help determine if the leak is truly internal (requiring major work) or from an external gasket, hose, or connector that might be accessible without removing the engine.
      2. **Pressure Testing the Cooling System**: A cooling system pressure test can help identify leaks more precisely. This test can sometimes reveal if there are any other weak spots or areas that might not require complete disassembly to access.
      3. **Alternative Component Access**: Depending on the specific leak location, certain models may allow component removal with partial disassembly instead of pulling out the whole engine. Ask if the mechanic can access the leaking component by removing other parts (like the intake manifold or ancillary components) instead of going straight to engine removal.
      4. **Seek a Second Opinion**: Given the cost of engine removal, getting a second opinion from another mechanic or a specialist in Skoda vehicles can be wise. They might have more experience with this issue and know a workaround or a less invasive method.
      5. **Temporary Fixes**: If the leak is minor and you're looking for a short-term solution, some mechanics use high-quality leak sealants specifically formulated for cooling systems. This isn’t a permanent fix but could buy you some time before more extensive work is necessary.
      I hope this helps! Wishing you the best of luck with your Skoda, and greetings to Colombia!

    What is the torque for the bolts of the waterpump and the cover?

    • @SanuMotorswithCharlie
      @SanuMotorswithCharlie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! 👋 For the water pump bolts, the torque spec typically falls around 10-12 Nm, depending on your specific engine model. 🔧 As for the water pump cover, it's usually about 8-10 Nm. To be extra precise, I recommend checking your vehicle's owner’s manual or a service guide for the exact specs.
      Remember, it's best to tighten the bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern to ensure a good seal. 👍 Thanks for watching, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need more info! 🚗💦 #WaterPumpReplacement #TorqueSpecs #DIYMechanic

    hello, please, how often did you have to top up the fluid?

    • @SanuMotorswithCharlie
      @SanuMotorswithCharlie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In a car, how often you need to top up fluids depends on the type of fluid you're referring to and the condition of the vehicle. Here’s a breakdown of common car fluids and their typical maintenance intervals:
      1. **Engine Oil**:
      - **Check**: Every 1,000 to 3,000 miles or monthly.
      - **Top-up**: If the oil level is low, top it up as needed between oil changes (typically every 3,000 to 10,000 miles depending on the car and oil type).
      2. **Coolant (Antifreeze)**:
      - **Check**: Every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or at least every month.
      - **Top-up**: If the coolant is below the recommended level, top it up. A significant drop could indicate a leak.
      3. **Brake Fluid**:
      - **Check**: Every 3 months or during routine service.
      - **Top-up**: Brake fluid should remain steady; if it's low, it might indicate a leak or worn brake pads. Top it up if needed, but have the system checked.
      4. **Transmission Fluid**:
      - **Check**: Every 30,000 to 60,000 miles (depends on the car).
      - **Top-up**: It should rarely need topping up unless there's a leak.
      5. **Power Steering Fluid**:
      - **Check**: Every month or every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
      - **Top-up**: If the fluid is low, top it up as needed. A drop could indicate a leak.
      6. **Windshield Washer Fluid**:
      - **Check**: As needed, especially during winter or bad weather.
      - **Top-up**: Regularly, whenever it runs low.
      For fluids like engine oil and coolant, if you're topping them up frequently, it could be a sign of a leak or other issue. It’s a good idea to monitor the levels regularly to catch any potential problems early.
