You might have blown that fuse during alternator replacement unknowingly. Remote sense alternators require specific steps to be taken during removal/replacement to avoid damaging the internal resistor. If this happens due to improper removal or installation they will also not honor a warranty replacement on the part. Just fyi, happened to run across your vid & it came to mind. Check out the video from Borg Warner below if you ever have to perform this procedure again, it might save you a headache or two?

Thank you, this video really helped me. I been dealing with this problem over 2 years. I went to 4 different mechanics and burnt out 2 sets of batteries in a years time. Both sets ended up swollen. I had a major loss of power to the Transmission and its been driving me crazy. But this was definitely the problem. Once I pulled that fuse it was broke. I replaced it and went from 14.8 volts to 14 volts also my front dome light and dash lights would cut off after 3 or 4 minutes after hearing that low voltage alarm which I didn't know what that sound was for. But now the problem is resolved. Thank you so much.

And that fuse being blown is exactly why as a mechanic, expecially on a freightliner advise never to use a power probe. A volt meter would have told you the resistance was messed up. I always pull fuses out to test them. Power probes will send to high of voltage to modules. If you want to see smoke coming from a module use a power probe. Most companies that maintain fleets have banned their mechanics from using them. No joke. They can cause thousands of dollars in damage if not used absolutely correct. Can't go wrong with a trusty volt ohm meter.

It's now 9:30pm and I have been thinking of any reason why my volts are at 14.7 ever since I replaced a starter yesterday. Watched this video. Went to check that fuse and sure enough it is burnt. Except my truck is a 2012 and it is a 5 amp fuse on the very top of the fuse box that is located under the brake valve behind all the air lines. Thank you for the tip sir.

      I did change the alternator.
I bought one in junk yard for $75.00
The new that I bought cost me $650.00 and it was defective.
The new parts are coming from Mexico and most of those parts have a very short life of service and a lot of them are defective.

You can also jump the Battery + output on the alternator to the sense terminal. In case the sense wire is damaged somewhere and just want to bring the voltage down.

I wish you could re do the video, or the sound. Thanks again for your wonderful contribution. My truck is losing voltage upto 11.8 volts. No problems in starting. Battery check passed. When mechanic checked alternator he said it's not faulty but i saw volts on his meter was around 17.8
After driving around 30 miles when i restart my truck voltage stays at 14.2 with no problem. Idk what's causing this issue. Definitely will check this fuse. Cascadia 2013

exforbrian1 I did what you did and it worked for about an hour than the Voltage started skyrocketing again. Turned out that all my maxifuses were also slightly burnt and one mini fuse was completely burnt out. Too bad I had already installed a new Alternator prior to watching this video. But that's okay because now I have a spare Alternator, not to mention the Knowledge I gained. I always thought a fuse was either good or bad; never in between.

My LVD fuse burns every few hours and my battery voltage drops to 12.5. I replace the fuse and it start charging normal. Also my ac stops working when the lvd fuse burns. Anyone know what it could be? Im guessing the low voltage module but not sure
