Makes total sense that they were all united as friends because of James. Once he was married and also isolated due to hiding, it is really logic that they discovered how James held them together as a group of friends and how in reality, outside of James' influence over each one of them, it was easy to doubt one another and distrust one another. This theory is brilliant and is now my head canon. Well done Dean!
Wow, I never thought too hard about the repercussions of if Lupin had attacked Snape, especially if he had died or been crippled. James clearly had more foresight on the consequences which is why he saved someone he didn’t even like. Glad you brought that to my attention, because indeed even Dumbledore couldn’t have argued for Remus at a trial of werewolf vs. deceased half blood. (Which is probably how it would’ve been framed by the Ministry, we all know they’re racist in the wizarding way.
This is one of the better theories out there, and it fits with their characters... Even though I like Sirius, l always thought it was a crappy thing he did, not just to Snape, but to his supposed friend Remus. He never gave it a second thought of how devastated Remus would have been to have actually hurt or possibly killed someome, even Snape. Not to mention all the other serious repercussions , and not just to Remus and Snape, but the backlash Dumbledore would've received by allowing Remus to be admitted into Hogwarts to begin with.......
I see multiple reasons: first the marauders were the duo James and Sirius, plus Peter and Remus as side kicks, so can't be Sirius. Then remain Peter and Remus... if you were Voldemort who would be interesting for you to recruit ? Who would wan't Peter ?... Just Remus remained, the werewolf as you said, who were mostly on Voldemort side and secondly, they are peoples used to keeping secret, having a second life. Before all of these events, who would think Peter, the "weak", "the cowards" (fatal misjudgments) would be able to keep a secret (especially as enormous), to betray, to attrack the attention of Voldemort... the thing they didn't anticipate is that it wasn't V who recruited or forced Peter... it is Peter who contacted Voldemort, that they didn't see it coming.
Glad Sirius's atrocities are laid bare. It was not cool what he did to Snape and Remus, shows that James for such a bully he is put his pride aside for Snape and probably pranked him a week latet
This was a well thought out explanation of the dynamics of friendship, trust and tolerance of the members of the Marauders. I always enjoy your videos.
Yes, often friend groups start out (& stay) as not equal friendships between all members but centered around 1 or 2 leaders or "pillars". Music groups are well known for functioning that way too. When the leader isn't there to mediate, designate, be the oil that helps thing move, then it becomes clearer how the individuals in the group truly get along with each other. James & Sirius were very immature at 1st, both privileged from having grown up in wealthy families even though the families were very different when it came to morals. (Thus Snape calling James names when talking to Harry, because in his eyes James didn't deserve praise, he was just a bully.) James was the 1st to fully mature & understand that the "pranks", aka bullying episodes, were going too far & could cause true harm on both sides. Despite Sirius eventually turning against his parents & going to live with James, he still had that prejudiced stuff crammed in his brain from childhood, so he probably didn't realise that added to his uncertainty of Rhemus' loyalty. He was blinded by the same prejudices as many other wizards. In the end it was a big mistake that couldn't be taken back.
But it's never mentioned that James mistrusted Remus. Remus even implies that he did when he said James considered it the height of dishonor to mistrust his friends.
It also boils down to this. Sirius Orion Black is stupid. I have a what if scenario for you, if you're interested. What if Remus were the Secret Keeper & Godfather instead of Sirius?
Even though we don't know whether or not Remus Lupin ever joined a pack as a werewolf while in wolf form, neither from reading the Potter books or the films but there is always the indication that he was always a lone wolf while in beast form. In "Prisoner of Azkaban" 'Beast Form' Lupin (Due to forgetting to take his wolfsbane potion at that time) was probably only following the sound of a howl because somewhere in his human subconscious that he heard someone that is familiar to him but his beast brain still does not recognize the familiarity of the sound and can only assume that another werewolf was calling to him.
Black may have been different from his family, but he was still a pure blood bigot. Lupin and Snape were both half bloods and Lupin was a Half Breed on top of it. James is the one Sirius truly cared about.

@@HarryPotterFolklore That was a great call 💪 So fun to watch! I just hope it’s not too much more time consuming to have all this new stuff going on. For those who don’t want an HP TV series, but want the friggin Marauders instead… do they really not remember what these group of bullies did to REMUS, their own friend? It’s not Snape vs the Marauders, it’s just a bunch of brats with no big bad adversary to overshadow their bullying. Has anyone considered the economic difference between them too? Sirius and James were very rich, they could’ve done a lot for their werewolf friend… but he’s not really their friend. He’s just a wolf-pet, who’s not allowed to talk back cuz he’s dirt poor.
What did they do to Remus? There's no evidence James mistrusted Remus. Remus even said James considered it the height of dishonor to mistrust his friends. Also, where's your evidence that they saw him as a pet who wasn't allowed to talk back? They were friends with him before they even knew he was a werewolf. Also, being bullies at 16 doesn't mean they can't have grown from such behavior.
He didn't have to use remus lupin to kill snape they lost points for that they all would've lost their lives Sirius black didn't think about the outcome
Every time someone brings up what Sirius did at fifteen, I get annoyed because he's being a teenager and ppl treat it likes he's a proper adult. Yes he knew it was wrong but that is a thing teenagers do and I don't feel no remorse for Snape. He was nosy, it wasnt your business and the fact that he trusted Sirius was to his own detriment. The boy literally bullies you any chance he gets and you just up and believe him. Idiot. Sirius probably was looking at him while he was doing it and told James and he went to save his neck. Cause James could have only found out from him. And not to mention stuff like that happens in the real world too.

Despite hating his family his parents would've done everything to make sure Sirius got a slap on the wrist for the incident

Yeah the war made even the closest of friends paranoid and with what Sirius did in the school years I’m not surprised
