    I feel horrible for him that he was shaky and on the verge of a mental breakdown (the monitors weren't working so he couldn't hear how he sounded). This is honestly a flawless performance, I hope he re-watched it and realised how fucking phenomenal him and the band were.

    The performance of Creep felt like a proper farewell to the song by Thom. As a special thanks to the crowd for enjoying their newer material, (and in a symbolic gesture that gave respect to the song that gave them the opportunity to create OK Computer), I truly think this band's performance of Creep at Glastonbury was the last time it was played without cynicism or loathing. Just gorgeous.

      BLANE$TA I didn't get to see them until 2012, touring TKOL. We did Thursday night at the Santa Barbara Bowl, then drove 5 hours to Coachella and saw them again on Saturday. Flew to Sydney to see them in November as well.
      You should definitely check out Coachella. Easy for me to say, it's about 2 1/2 hours away by car and I have a friend with a house right by the festival entrance!
      What's held me back from Glastonbury isn't the travel or cost, but 1) getting tickets, 2) weather, and 3) accommodations. I'm too old to camp, particularly if weather does not cooperate! And 4) finding a co-conspirator to share the experience!
      One of these years, I'd planned to go for my 50th birthday but that didn't happen.

    • @asecondopinion3504

      Tim Tobish about Coachella young sir. I was working at a farm down in that hell hole and my boss had a home two blocks away. We just walked to the festival with our "artist" passes (we provided a huge amount of organic veggies to the artist area). So it seems like we were in the same boat. Radiohead and Mazzy Star were amazing. Crazy times down there in the desert. I spent 4 months in Thermal. We provided veggies for some people there so we got free passes. I had a beautiful time and the highlight was Radiohead.. I was so happy to see them perform and sing with them. I think some of the hundrends of people filming it with their phones weren't too happy with me singing.. but i've got a good voice damn it. idiots with their fucking phones. self righteous assholes.. "get out of my way I'm filming radiohead". strange days we're in. I could go on forever. (i'm 32, so I remember the no cell days, I miss it)
      The fucked up part I was LEAVING the festival to go home. They wouldn't let us out the same way all the cars were leaving because we were on foot, we had bracelets.. . So we walked around all kinds of different exits for a place to LEAVE. nobody would let us OUT. so fucking weird. What we ended up doing was meeting up with strangers and we had to climb a fucking fence to get out....large fence. i'm telling you we went to multiple checkpoints..... just trying to leave. we had to collaborate (my friend and I) with a small group of total strangers just to escape that shit. They had the same problem, nobody would let us OUT.. it was strange. but I got to see the two I really wanted to see. Mazzy and Radio. Glad you got to see our friends there and in Australia too. lucky bastard.

    I think what's special is that they were never afraid to explore dark emotions, that we all have but generally repress because there's no place in our superficial "I feel fabuous", consumerist, give it 110%, "win friends and influence people" society for.. You know. when is it OK to say a lot of the way we live is bullshit and we should focus on each other and things that are important but don't generate revenue for a while... (f5ck.. I think I need a career change!?)

    The Bends is by far Radiohead's best album and I think after many, many years of music that has come and gone it's most probably my favourite album of all time which is a bold statement I know. I'm not even a huge fan of the rest of their music but there's something about that album that just hits every single spot for me. One of the only albums that I actually feel compelled to sing along to too.

    People always think about the past and realizes that a determinate thing was more, more, more better than they valued it back in the time, well in my opinion today we talk about Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. as the greatest band ever, that there won't be bands as great as them... i think Radiohead could easily be valued as great as this names, but we'll probably do it in some decades. In my opinion this is it: Radiohead are still under 50, and they are one of the best groups ever.

    F*ck, they owned the place! Recently realising just how powerful so many of the old songs really are - lyrically, musically, and in arrangement and performance. Nothing on King Of Limbs comes within a mile. The next album will decide whether they've still got it I think

    • @simonedgbaston
      @simonedgbaston 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The King of limbs is beautiful in everyday, but needs a lot of time invested which I have... It's only downfall is it is underwhelming because of shortness unfortunately 😃

    I haven't seen them live at all, but I really do want to. It sounds like they can really pull of that awesome arena sound. I'm a sucker for great guitars though, and there's less of that now from Jonny, which is a shame because he's a great guitarist.
