We're loving Slovenia so far! We're venturing South to travel around the Balkan countries, let us know if you have any recommendations - we're about to visit lot's of countries we've never been to before! We'll be daily vlogging here on out. Also thank you for all your love and support on the last video, your comments helped us a lot ♥
I hope, when you went to our castle, you went to the most south-west part of it as well, because that side of the wall faces the city, and gives the clearest view upon it and the Celje Basin.
The pastry fail is probably filled with poppyseed or a plum butter (for lack of a better word?) and quark (white part). Here in Austria we have a plum butter that's been stewed for hours and is put into all kinds of sweet dishes. From Germknödel (steamed bun) to danish pastries (Powidlgolatsche) or just used like a jam/marmelade.
Some people are just funny without even trying and Dom is one of them. 😂 Gosh, I can just imagine the dissapointment of expecting chocolate and that's "not quite" what you got. 🤭 Good on you both for getting back on the road. Looking forward to where you're taking the van next!
So happy to see this upload! And I giggled watching him casually pull the "suitcase" down the road's😂 You both bring so much to your videos with your different personalities and I so enjoy it. Sending much positivity your way from Minnesota.
I love Slovenia. I've travelled all over the world and it remains my favourite. Too tips, when in Ljubljana go to the castle for great views of the city. Then go for pizza at Ljubljanski dvor. They delicious and MASSIVE if you get the biggest size. You're meant to share them but we had one each. It took me two days to finish mine! Definitely go to lake bled too. Paddling across the lake to the church was probably the most picturesque place I've ever visited. Other things to do are have a nice walk along Vinegar Gorge and visit Bled Castle that has beautiful views of the lake and nearby mountains. When you're at the castle be sure to have a kremna rezina at the cafe. It a speciality pudding for the area. Pizzeria Rustika is also worth visiting. They do a burger where the pizza bun is made of pizza dough (very delicious). Other top tips, Piran by the coast is beautiful, Škocjan caves are also definitely worth a see as they are massive.
I grew up with 3 dogs in my life. 2 of them my parents had put to sleep when I was 12 years old both on the same day too. But I knew why since their health was drastically failing in both the 13 year old dog and the 18 year old dog. My dog who was the youngest of the 3 dogs I lost and was devastated by when she passed when I was 18 years old. She was only 12 or 13 years old when she passed. And it took me quite a few months to be alirght after she passed. I am glad to see you both enjoying the great views of the cities/town you get to explore!
That must’ve been so incredibly tough at 12 losing two of them on the same day that’s just awful 😞 having always had them with you and your third dog too. I’m so sorry to hear that ❤️ and thank you 🥰
Enjoyed the torture instruments! If someone didn’t know already, they’d never guess what the “suitcase” was. Hehe They could get a nasty surprise! So beautiful so far in Europe! The castles just, ah! I need to win the lottery! I need to somehow afford to play the lottery! Hope you are both doing alright and that being back on the road is feeling good. Looking forward to the next video. 🖤
It was interesting to see them, I wonder if those specific instruments were used 🫣 You have to come see them one day!! And thanks, it’s good to be back on the road and keeping busy ♥️
The view from that castle is stunning! I'm looking forward to following along as you travel through Europe, I live in Alaska so getting to Europe is expensive and tedious, so thank you for sharing places I'll probably never get to see. I know how hard it can be to get back to living life after loss, so I'm glad to see you and Dom continuing on with your travels💙
It was amazing! It would be quite the journey here from Alaska 😅 I hope to show you the best of where we are, hope you can feel like you’re here too! 😄 It’s been tough but glad to be out exploring and keeping busy now ❤️
Beautiful castle!! I believe the torture device you guys saw that looked like a coffin with spikes inside of it is called an "iron maiden" (Like the heavy metal band name). So happy to watch a video from you guys!!! have an epic day and be safe!!!
Dobrodošla v Sloveniji. I didn't expect you to come to my country honestly. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Also the pastry you ate might be filled with poppy seeds and that's why it stated the way it did. Srečno v Sloveniji (good luck in Slovenia)
Have wanted to visit for a while now! It’s lovely and the people are great. I think it must’ve been poppy seeds, everyone seems to think it was 😅 I never would’ve guessed that haha and thank you ☺️
Not much worse than expecting pain au chocolate and getting…not that. North America needs more castles, I think. We should build some just for fun. Great tour!
That looked like poppy seeds mixed with sugar and milk. It's not so bad, but it ain't chocolate 😂😂😂 also welcome to Eastern Europe and cheap food! European prices but Eastern Europe salaries most often.
I think it must’ve been that 😂 maybe if I wasn’t expecting chocolate it would’ve been alright! We’re planning on heading to Romania soon, never been before so any advice or places to go are appreciated! I really want to go to Transylvania castle 😄♥️
@@AlwaysAway I'm not a weirdo btw 😂😂 I'm saying that because it's a bit more to say than me writing my memoirs here in a message 😂 of course, totally ok if you'd like to keep it here 🙏 Transylvania castle is nice but a tourist trap. You can see it but there's more to see than that.
Another great vid! Looking forward to your trip around the Balkans - My family and I used to holiday in this area when I was a kid and it was called Yugoslavia! From memory the best places to visit included Dubrovnik in Bosnia, Split and Zagreb in Croatia and Belgrade in Serbia, although nearly 40 years and a war have gone past since I was there and I am sure things have changed a lot! One recommendation I do have is to eat the spicy local sausage they have there called Cevapcici - one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten!♥👍
My grandparents lived here when it was Yugoslavia so it’ll be interesting to see more! I expect we’ll visit some of those cities, I’m looking forward to the coast too, hopefully it doesn’t get too hot 😅 but we will find some spicy sausage, sounds perfect!!

Slovenia is SO SO beautiful! Very happy you're doing a loop through the Balkans! :D
And the bun looked a lot like poppyseed?! If I was there it would have been GONE 🤣
Croatia is great!
Dom, making emptying the black tank glamorous since 2024.
He does it in style 😅

Ohh right, it might have been poppy seed, I feel like I would’ve enjoyed plum butter! That sounds really nice 😂
@@AlwaysAway it might be carob.

He makes me laugh so much 😂 I’ll be wiser in choosing a pastry next time 😅 thank you! ♥️
That first bite into the food lmao. Emma's face was hilarious
Lmao I got catfished by the fake chocolate 😭
That's an amazing view from the castle! 😮
It was so cool!

Thank you!! That’s amazing to hear 🥰and haha he did it with such confidence 😅 much love to Minnesota 🙌💕
This video made me smile a lot! Slovenia looks beautiful I must visit some day soon.
Thank you for the vlog!
Thank you! It’s been amazing here so far 😄💕
The pastry you had Emma was poppy seeds with sugar I think! They have that type of pastry in Czech and it's really nice!
It has to be, I need to go find another one and try it again 😅
Yes, definitely poppy seeds! 😊
So good to see you guys back together and I'm looking forward to your travel adventures around Europe. I agree having bikes would be a great addition.
Thanks! 💕 definitely need some bikes!

Looks like poppyseed filling. You two are ❤ lovely.
Ah it could’ve been! And thank you 🥰
If you pop next door into Croatia, you must do Plitvice Lakes/National Park. Also, try Burek (savoury) and Kremsnite (sweet).
We will be heading there next so thanks for that!! Will save it to the map 🙌
nice to hear from you guys again! going to have to catch up with this channel since I have missed quite a number of videos!
Thanks! ❤️❤️

Definitely worth it 😅
Are you planning on getting some bikes? The van looks more than big enough to add some on a rack on the back from what I can see.
Really want to get some! We’ll have to save up for some, it’d be really easy to fit a rack on here 😃
