My man! I've been having issues with my pro 1000 for months after an update and I stopped printing! Until just this moment! So many forums and hours spent looking for what this 9min video provided! Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you, thank you and thank you once again. You have now restored the tiny bit of sanity I have left. I can now control my printer properly. So grateful for the work you do.
Where was this video when I first got my Pro-1000? It would have saved me hours of frustration and sheets of paper! Thanks for making the video, Keith. You'll help many, many folks!
Hope so! I cover it in all my printer reviews, so it was in my detailed PRO-1000 review www.northlight-images.co.uk/canon-pro-1000-printer-review/ However that was written over four years before I started adding the supplementary videos, after someone from Canon convinced me that people would watch videos if I made them [they were right, I was wrong]
Thank you SO much Keith. I am totally the kind of person who is impatient and just clicks yes yes, next next when installing anything and of course 1st time around, I installed the airprint version. Of course I did! And thanks to your video I now have the correct printer driver and hopefully more control over my colours. Woo hoo! I'm now off to learn about ICC profiles from your other videos...
Thank you SO much! I’ve been struggling with this for over an hour now and finally decided to delete the printer and reinstall it. To my surprise, the utility button showed up and no more mention of airprint. Woohoo! BTW, I’m using a pro 100.
Keith, you are a lifesaver! . ..ok maybe a wee exaggeration, but you've certainly saved my sanity!! I've been going round and round in circles for ages with this... even had call with Canon a few months ago and gave up. ...but now I need to do a bunch of prints, some for family after a holiday... and now I have the right driver! Yes!! ...however... when I try and set paper size for 6x4 prints (for family before I do some large prints for myself and others) in LR Classic using Pro-300 as a printer, it won't let me choose 6x4, and forces me to create a custom size. so, when I do that then move on to setting up the paper size in the new driver, I have to do it every time I want to print. so I created a printer preset and saved that in print settings LR classic then shows the print filling the screen, the paper size correctly, and all the boxes on the RH side ticked correctly (rotate to fit), then I move onto the bottom right button 'printer' to check all is well only to find the paper size is shown here as A4 for some reason! so I reset this to 6x4 and press print.. ...and I get a glorious print on 6x4 paper but not rotated so it's tiny and I've just wasted a pile of paper trying all variations but can't get it to work - do you have any idea what I might b doing wrong, or a link you can advise me to check up on? thanks, and keep up the great videos - your a godsend in this frustrating wilderness!
Glad to help with the driver. Can't help with any LR print settings though - I never use lightroom Have you tried printing from the Canon PPL software? This is a question though where I'd suggest asking on the printing forum at dpreview.com See also, the full set of my PRO-300 info at: www.northlight-images.co.uk/canon-pro-300-printer-review/

@@KeithCooper sorry for slow reply Keith. I just edited in PS from LRC and printed from there. I’ll try the canon software tho. I think I need to change my workflow to avoid LRC.
Your vids really helped in the past when I've had the dreaded AirPrint issue. However, just upgraded to a Mac Mini running OS 15 and I can't get past the print driver installer - wondered if you knew of any compatibility issues? I can install the driver that has AirPrint, but that's not what I want. Grateful for any thoughts....
@@KeithCooper Hi there, apologies, it's the Prograf 300. Anyway, after hours of frustration and head-banging, I managed to sort it and get rid of that awful AirPrint issue - and largely thanks to the knowledge gained from your video. Many thanks, sir!
Thanks Keith for yet again an excellent video. I had same issue when I installed my P300 sometime ago. Thanks fully I went back Canon website and followed their instructions.
omg thank you so much for this, I lost hours trying to get it to work!! I was reading it but I guess not nearly enough carefully, let's blame it on my add 🙈anyway really thank you for these life saving videos! 🙏
Thanks for this ex video. I’m not getting option to choose pro print layout on my Canon pro 200 and photoshop. I’ll re-install the driver and hopefully this will solve my problem.
Thanks - I've covered this in every printer review I've done over the last few years [written and video] and I have another video showing this on older systems, but such is the YT emphasis on 'new' content, I need to repeat it every so often...
Hi Keith, yes, that was my problem too when I started using the Pro-300. I noticed a strange color cast when I printed certain sub-scanned images on smaller paper. At first I thought I was doing something fundamentally wrong and tried to figure out what with the help of your written articles! It took me a few days to realize it was the stupid Airprint driver👹
Yes - it persists with each new OS, but looks just different enough to catch people out. My personal annoyance is Apple trying to make my Mac look more like a phone...
Morning Keith - great video and a welcome change from more "intense" videos. I have a question though! You seem very knowledgable re Mac/Canon Printers and wonder if you are able to help/guide me. Im having terrible trouble printing to a 6x4 on Canon IP8750 using Photoshop. There seems to be a default paper size thats either overiding the settings - so thinks its A4 or if we scale then the actual image comes out small as if the 6x4 was A4 - have installed latest driver and using your methord. Have a creen print I can send you - Frustrated as hell at the moment with it! PS. on a windows PC works fine
Currently pulling my hair out setting up my new Epson ET 8550 also being new to MacBooks. The only software I’m being offered is Epson ET-8550 Series but when I install it I get EPSON ET-8550 Series-AirPrint every time 🤔
Have a look at my setup for the 8550 www.northlight-images.co.uk/epson-et-8550-printer-review/ Do an install from epson.sn and read the instructions very carefully! This has caught me out too
@@KeithCooper Thanks for the reply Keith, I’ve just sorted it. I found the correct driver on the website, I’d been using Epson Software Updater previously assuming that was giving me the correct up to date driver
Thanks for this video. Please add hashtags to this video that it can be linked to the pro 1000. I wasted so much ink and paper without this video. Especially for beginner is not really obvious nor intuitive that the Apple AirPrint driver is the problem.
You asked for questions? I am going away for work and vacation for 2 months is there anything I can do to prevent the canon pro 200 from drying out while I am away?
put it in a sealed plastic bag to keep out dust and keep up the humidity. Leave it somewhere where it won't get too hot. Other than that, the 200 is fairly resistant to problems
I have a new Canon 200 and I'm running it on an iMac. Using the Canon PPL it works absolutely fine but it will not print from any other application on the computer. I've not had a chance to check the AirPrint as you say but as the results from PPL are perfect I don't think that is it. Any ideas Keith?

It's a complex issue, and yes, things could be easier.
I've not tested a 900 with the new system though...
I like Macs, because they JUST work.
Now here is this annoying issue and the workaround...
When testing this I first fell into the trap of 'knowing' what to do...
Then I looked at what the installer said to do...
