Running a marathon in a luxury hotel

- HOTEL MARATHON: When I asked the manager of a five star hotel in Seattle if I could run a marathon around the hallways and stairwells, conference room and lobby, pool deck and bar and anywhere else that was vaguely runnable, I was shocked when she said yes. I even asked if she was sure. ‘Yes, that’ll be fine. Just be safe’ You bloody beauty, I replied. Then after a few moments of thinking about the run through ‘bugger, I now have to run a hotel in the marathon’. So that’s what I did.
This is Day 12 of 'The 12 Days of Newness'

G'day everyone! Well there you go...a 12 part series! Hope you enjoyed it. In other big news, I just pushed go on a TOUR of AUSTRALIA! Go to my website to snag a ticket to a secret screening! Goodonya! beaumiles.com/screenings/
It's been a great series, thanks Beau!
I will be there and got a signed book (Melbourne)
good on ya, fella
Another awesome video Beau, you are an inspiration. I almost wrote 'Only Beau could turn something so mundane as a corporate hotel, into a chance for such an adventure', but then I realised in the same breath, that we should all be able to do that. Leading by example mate. All the best from NZ. Hoping to see you here one day.
What a series. Youre a legend
big props to the cameraperson for seemingly trailing you for the entire stretch!
Yeah, that's the real achievement
Mitch Drummond...
Cameraman always the real MVP
For real, they had to keep up too, they should get some credit!
Crazy they flew into the sky 8:46
It's super open minded of the hotel staff to allow him to do this. Good on them. Would've been so easy to just say no.
Good free publicity/ advertising though
@@ocean5769 yeah but he doesn't make a lot out of naming the hotel. You see their name briefly a few times when he's outside but I can't recall him saying the name in the voice over and doesn't mention or thank them in the description either. So I don't think the publicity value is huge here.
I assume he was the speaker doing a keynote address for that company as part of their seminar/conference thing.
@@abcdefgh1 yeah, you might be right about that
@Novacification it's good enough and has viral potential, plus he's running at like 6am so no interruption to the hotel.
Imagine waking up and leaving this hotel to catch an aeroplane and you see this man in full running gear jogging around. By the way huge props to the hotel staff for letting you run a whole marathon Beau!
As long as he's respectful about it (as Beau was) it'd make my day!
4:02 "G'day......Welcome to the hotel "😂
yea I'm really wondering who hired those extras in the 250 person conference to keep a straight face instead of busting into spontaneous grins, applause and what have you!
Beau would be the kind of person to stay at a hotel for a few days and leave being friends with every single staff member.
Maybe not the guests
@@jule3480😂😆
Just your typical Aussie
Standard Australian on holiday
And having helped fix a couple of things.
This is like a fever dream… the kind of stuff people have nightmares about - and Beau’s doing it for fun
👍
It's like he got stuck in The Backrooms and had a grand time with it!
You have overdone the medication one thinks.
Bro, I nearly lost my freaking mind when you ran into that conference! Dude, how the hell do you have the confidence to do something like that. I would die. PHYSICALLY DIE.
But he very politely thanked them in the credits of this video 😀Classy!
Yea the second hand embarrassment from that bit made my toes curl!
I had to skip through it because I got second hand embarrassment and I hate myself for it lmao
It’s 251 stranger who’s opinion of you doesn’t matter and who you’re never ever going to meet in your life.
he absolutely killed it running through that room perfect form so perfect no one even noticed
What’s more is he is not wearing ear buds and zoning out to music. He’s engaged with the staff and the environment.👍I need to do more of that.
Exercise should engage the body and the mind.
It's so funny seeing Beau lose the stairs and then the shot of no less than 5 huge Exit signs pointing to the stairs hahahah love it!
Lol I just stopped myself from typing the same. Well spotted sir 😂
Great ad for the hotel. Props to the manager and staff for being awesome!
Crazy Australian man trespasses in a hotel but he's so fast no one can ask him to leave
personally I thought at least one Aussie would toss him a 2-dollar tip :-)
What accommodating people the staff of the Hyatt Regency are. I used to run circuits of a multi-story car park occasionally, if the weather was too wet to be out, but a hotel beats that by a country mile. You're always an inspiration, Beau.
A Hyatt Regency mile, to be exact.
Just woke up a memory of when i used to run circuits of a parking garage stairwell with 50 pounds of sand in a backpack. Such a good workout.
I bet poor Mitch ran twice as far getting all that on film. Great work guys!
You're such a gift to the world, Beau!
The thought of a vociferous Beau greeting everyone while they've probably only just woken up, while he's running a marathon in the hotel, is a miss match in energy that makes for hilarious video 😂
Can we make this a yearly thing? Bravo! One of my favorite series you’ve produced for the amazingness and simplicity of it all.
52 weeks of newness please
+
surely but will somebody give Beau a unicycle to add a little challenge :-)
Beau is such a little ray of sunshine, I love seeing him in a setting like this where lots of people gather but it can paradoxically feel quite lonely. Often when I’m out and about I think “that looks interesting, what’s that person doing?” etc. but I would never express it for fear of bothering someone. But Beau is just being himself, being curious about what everyone’s doing, and people respond so well to it. He makes this in-between kind of place feel like an actual community. I hope I can give a bit more of that to others.
Props to the camera man, whos also running a marathon inside of a hotel while they are recording you
This brings back so many memories of traveling with my kids, where letting them run the hotel halls is essential to getting their wiggles out. I can 100% vouch that big hotels are utterly fantastic for exploring. And nearly everyone you meet will stop and say how much the love / loved being a parent when they see a toddler buzz by without a care in the world.
I wasn't expecting you to leave the mic on in the loo! What a treat 😂Glad you enjoyed the run!
Beau keeps it real. Absolutely legend
I've loved this series, a really awesome bunch of films, ideas and craziness all in one spot.
Wow ! Can’t believe he let u run during a conference… I am pretty sure the audience knew …. Thank u 4 ur adventures, I have to say they were all unique and as always entertaining ❤🎉
Im over weight and this series has been so inspirational to me thank you for doing it.
I can’t overstate How much I’ve enjoyed this series and how much I’ll miss it. Each episode had me smiling ear to ear the whole time.
That was greatly fun and positive watch. No racing. No competition. No complaints. Just a guy running in a hotel.
Just goes to show Beaus skill as a storyteller that he can turn what should have been a dull video on paper into something so entertaining and endearing.
As a Washingtonian I am glad we treated you well! I approve this message!
Beau is possibly the only person who can make a film about running in a hotel a 10/10 mini doc/Vlog! Absolutely loved 12 days of newness and hopefully there we'll get season 2 starting this Christmas!
"you want to run a marathon inside our hotel? Sir we have an onsite gym?!"
I was dying when you ran through the CEO speech. Absolutely excellent video Beau.
Running backwards and forwards looking for the stairs right under the glowing green fire exit signs cracked me up a bit
Great series, thank you Beau :)
I’ll never get over your crazy idea Beau! So great!
I think the idea is that we all come up with our own versions of this - what do you think??!!
I work on a 40m sailboat. We calculated it would take about 187 laps to do a 10k.
After seeing your hotel marathon, I might have to try a sailboat 10k.
Goodonya.
Kudos to your camera person who also ran a great distance while filming 💪💪
You remind me of my Grandfather. He was a man who would look at the positive in everything, and find the fun in almost everything. You are such an inspiration Beau ❤
I first started watching your videos because of the grand adventures you went on, but somehow you manage to make the ordinary seem extraordinary. Keep it up Beau, fantastic content as always!
Every time I watch Beau it gives me energy to go do something... no matter what it is, the energy is there. On a different note, I had a trip to Seattle scheduled for business and just switched my Hotel reservation to the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington.
Newness is limitless! How can you not just love this guy.
looking like a fish out of water in a hotel even before starting the run haha
i love the little interactions he has with the hotel patrons, just smiling and commenting on mundane things- some dont know what to make of it and others seem to go along with it- beautiful!
Call me childish but the toilet break with the mic still running had me chuckling! Goodonya Beau
Protect this man at all cost. If we were abit whacky and responsible as he is, world would be a better place
Glad the squirrel got a shout out in the credits. haha , great series Beau.
Starting sharing your work with my drone students years ago because of your aerial footage to help tell your story and now you are running in the hotel down next to the park I grew up going to on Lake Washington. The world keeps getting smaller. Keep inspiring and telling your story.
Yo Beau, dude, you're straight-up awesome just being you, man! The way you rock those stories and adventures while keeping it real is seriously dope. We're all stoked to have someone as rad as you in the TH-cam fam. Keep doing your thing, brother, and thanks for bringing your one-of-a-kind vibes to the game!
Thanks for this series Beau! Properly enjoyed this original and thought provoking film!
Always so engaging with people, life, your surroundings and experiences. It's refreshing.
Beau you’re always doing stuff and I deeply appreciate that.
Beau is a bloody hell of an inspiration and there's no denying it. Goodonya Beau!
I feel like the cameraperson ran at least a half marathon themselves! Well done Beau and team!
Hey Beau ✨️
You are a true force of nature with positivity, we need more Beau's on this spinning globe of ours, it would be a darn safer and better place for sure.
For everything that has shaped your life to date, with some still to reveal themselves , what is amazing is that you are a father to two young impressionable lives. Along with Helen, you are shaping their lives wonderfully as loving mentors that we, your merry band of followers, get a small glimpse of.
Happy children, given marvellous life experiences throughout their lives, is tremendous for their future.
Keep on Keeping on Beau, you are a superb role model, fact, sorry to put such a big responsibility on your shoulders.
Stay Safe as Always 🧡☮️🕊🌻☯️
This is easily my favorite channel on TH-cam, Beau, thank you for all that you do! The messages you share with the world and the downright fascinating way you communicate and interact with those around you, and those watching you from afar is incredible and I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Just one very big thank you. Every single one of your videos open my eyes a little bit more on running, living and appreciating what I have.
This was totally a win-win for everybody - you showed pretty much all of the hotel and you did run a marathon. Nice.
Absolute masterpiece!
I have adored every second of these 12 days, I don't want it to end
Thanks very much for taking us along for the ride and please keep making more
When you realise that Beau is at pure peak human form in its majesty
Never ceases to amaze me. Beau you are what God intended us all to be. Everything you do is with passion and yes....newness. I'm sure they all thought this guy is weird but to me they are the weird ones for not seeing what you do is truly human. Don't ever bloody champion.
Love how you live your life Beau. So entertaining and inspiring.
This is 2 of my favourite things, Running in Hotel Hallways and Beau Miles.
Your videos always put a massive smile on my face. This one may have resulted in the biggest grin yet! Cheers Beau!
Gotta say I love that I have more Beau to watch... making the odd or simple a good bit of silly fun. Cheers
What a series! You inspire every time you upload a video, Beau. Thank you!
This series has been a treat, Beau! I've always seen your channel as a call to break the mold of the everyday, and these 12 days certainly reinforce that idea. Great stuff!
This brings back some memories of my school days when I would run down the halls in the winter with my dad in the VERY large 1950's-era resort in our town. The place was not doing very well at that point (and we were members of the attached health club), so you would rarely run into anyone, and the place was HUGE. You would come around the corner of a hallway and just stumble into this HUGE lounge area with an incredible stone fireplace. It was so easy to get 4 or 5 miles there, and beat running through the snow outside.
Please never stop, Beau! You're an international treasure!
No! Don’t want this to end, we need a 100 days of Newness next mate!
Hey Beau,
I've been watching your videos for some time now and I can't tell you how much I look up to you brother!
I'm a university student in the U.S. and I'm trying figuring out what I want to spend my life doing; bloody tough thing to do!
Spent the night going back through a whole bunch of your videos and realized why I enjoy these films so much. I'm drawn to and applaud your greater perspective on the world/life as well as the quality of your character.
Best,
Luke

Incredible, these 12 days were great, thanks beau!
This was such a fun series to follow, I love Beau's attitude in life.
That toilet break had me dying 😆
Absolutely! Belly laughs!
What is it with farts that are so hilarious? Just cracking up over here, huge smile!
@@fprintf Just the fact that he included it is hilarious. Most people would shut off the mic or edit it out, but not our Beau!
Didn't wash his hands though.
@@InfamousCrimeLocations I'll let you in on a secret, most guys don't for no. 1's
Gotta love it for Beau, cutting about like a kid living his dream. Every. Damn. Day.
On the eighth day of newness,
Beau Miles gave to me,
A Seattle hotel marathon,
Reclamation running,
A one boat open sleigh,
Fuel for the winter,
Centrifugal treasure,
My mug on a canvas,
A run, walk and swim,
And a donut, a trim and striped tee!
Congrats on the series Beau - it’s been a joy to be along for the ride 🎉
Brilliant video! I love that you didn't just run it, you experienced everything along the way. Good on the hotel for letting you as well!
Another great video. As always, wonderfully endearing and inspiring.
America is always made a bit brighter with a visit from Beau. 🇺🇸🇦🇺
Must've been hard editing all these videos in such a short time span but I'd be lying if I wasn't looking forward to every single day of newness. Such a fun series and hope to see it come back one day! Special thanks for the kayaking in the snow video which melts my frozen heart :)
Goodonya Beau! That was great! Can't believe the 12 days of newness are now over!!! Looking forward to whatever it is you do next!
Beau seemingly knowing everyone in the hotels name, is giving me strong Mick Dundee vibes.
Thank you Beau from preventing the world from getting too sane!!
4:50 pitstop fart had me 😂
I live in Seattle, and the Hyatt Regency in the video is actually a very popular runner's spot. Since Seattle is so rainy, we often have to run inside. I run that hotel at least once a week.
Running in the rain is a joy in itself!!! No such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing (or attitude)
Very entertaining. Your videos and approach always makes me feel a little less strange when I do new stuff that people don’t get 😂
You make me laugh, you make me smile, you make me want to be a better me. Thank you Beau !!!!
The shot running through the full meeting room is awe-inspiring.
A big thumbs up 👍 for the cameraman/lady
I love the way your videos are edited and the way you come across on camera and your ideas in general but the part where you go for a piss and let out a couple of farts was fantastic
This is amazing. Beau you're so genuine and I love that your content brings me so much joy. It just makes me stop and think sometimes. I appreciate all you do.
Amazing content and quality as always. How did you measure the distance? Accelerometer/step counter (since presumably GPS wouldn't work indoors)? And also, how far did your camerapeople run? They seemed to cover a fair bit of ground with you!
and the camera-person placement - top notch production in every respect!!!
I wanted to ask the same. Step counter wouldn´t be very accurate, would it? (Different steps on the flat floors vs. on the stairways, etc.) I´d really like to know! :)
@@TheBirchCreek Some of the newer watches from Garmin and such are actually very accurate on determining this. I reckon he set it to scan continously for gps signal, rather than the standard "every 5sec" or whatever is standard.
@@TeamHahah No GPS signal in the corridors, enclosed staircases or underground garages... True, the technology gets continuously more advanced, but there are still limits that cannot be overcome.
A calibrated run sensor "run pod", without GPS is actually more accurate for distance than a GPS watch for running. Beau's watch is compatible with at least one such run pod, but it would be worn at the lining of the shorts by the spine and it's really hard to see as his shirt covers that part. But Beau is more than capable of running a marathon in weird conditions, so he could definitely do it in a hotel. But I think the story is much more important than the exact distance.
Really loved this mini series. Absolute joy watching it
Beau is like the aussie version of forest gump
This series has been such a lot of fun, laughter and interest, Beau. You have some unusual ideas and manage to turn them into fascinating, thought provoking events for us to share. Thank you - hoping for more.
Putting on sunscreen to run in a hotel...in Seattle...in April 😂. I hope Seattle was good to you! Seeing a gregarious Australian shake things up by saying good morning to all of the introverted North Westerners is awesome. We need more Beau Miles energy here!
Your exuberance for life and overall energy is so admirable. After watching your videos I have a whole new perspective and outlook on life. You are a magician.
3:40 Staircases? Follow the EXIT signs.
Dude, i love these slightly provocative tweeks, like running though the business meeting at the end like its the most normal thing and just not give a damn about what they think about you. It might be arragend before, but still looks pretty funny :)
I’m so sad this is the last episode of the series I’ll have to find something else to do at 7:15 pm every second day
The best thing about this series was more frequent Beau! Cracking series, loved every minute of it!
Beau proving fart gags are always funny.
Thank you for this series of original videos- really enjoyable to watch - you must have felt alive making these!
I clicked on this 9 seconds after it was posted, and it a accident
Now I want to have my own 12 days of newness
Same except 8 seconds
Wow so glad you shared what happened to you
absolutely love this mate, such an odd idea but so entertaining!
