one of my fave offical arts ever for fates comes from this manga lol, i like the larger panel i think kinda early into the manga where nohr fam is all in front of a fire place talking and reading together in casual clothes its so comfy. a lot of this manga nailed the more casual and alive versions of these characters i had been hungry to see, i actually wish there was a little more banter between the leo trio lol also , i didnt care much for camilla before this manga and literally changed my mind reading this manga. id like to say it was the writing but i saw her in her winter hat and was like. ok im willing to change my mind because maybe it was the outfit i got hung up on LOL
This has absolutely convinced me to read Fates Manga. Just one small problem I have absolutely no idea where I can read it. Every link or means I checked to find a way either lead to a dead end, or the links posted on the Fire Emblem Reddit no longer work and nothing comes up. If you know of another way I would love to hear it cause I definitely want to read this

Very informative and thoughtful. I am so happy that we are living in a time where games are far more than just games. Now, imagine game characters coming alive using AI, both in your room and in the game, and of course in comic books! I just can't wait.
I only read the 4komas myself, I didn't know there was a proper manga for this, let alone my man Leo. I'll come back to finish this vid cuz I'm gonna read it soon. Thanks for giving this some attention 💪
Leo is best Fates boy, so I will probably pick this up eventually. (Although, I should probably finish at least Conquest, if not also Revelation first, even if I already know a large portion of the spoilers) You also reminded me about how behind I am in the Engage manga, lol
Whenever i find myself defending Fates, i often bring up this manga and how it made me think leo should have been the protag- and often get met with, "what manga?" "thats official..!??!?" etc. criminally underrated though sadly ends so abrupt. i loved this manga, and as a fan it was great even just for seeing the characters in other outfits and getting a better understanding of the layout of the buildings they spent time in. i feel like itd be a great tool for lots of fan writers and fan artists but is often ignored or forgotten. sometimes the manga feels a little like a bitter reminder that fates /had/ a lot more story and detail made for it, which was hugely scrapped and patched back together to be small enough for the scale of the game and size restraints for the 3ds. i really hope they release a lot of the unused concept writing and work sometime. im not very hopeful they even still have it though....
Good video overall, but i disagree with the idea that the "Garon turns good" scene clarifies Xander's motivations better than the game; it just visualizes the multiple statements that he used to be a good guy, with a scene right after having Xander repeat his in-game justification of "and if i keep doing what he tells me to he'll totes go back to being nice", so i don't really see how anyone who knows that is going to like or dislike that motivation any more or less just because Garon had one scene where he wasn't being a cunt to Leo. It might better inform people that missed that information in the game, but if that's the case, that'd hardly be a point of praise for Nibelung; "Garon used to be nice" is not subtly conveyed in Fates, and if it took an adaptation taking what little subtlety it had and getting rid of it by having the guy transform back into his previous self for no reason and have a scene where he treats Leo well for them to get it, that says more about their attention span than it does Fates' story, unfortunately. Also, making Leo the MC does come with a lot of issues, ones that come back to bite Nibelung; Corrin not being the MC means that most of their adventures in Hoshido and the neutral regions, along with the cultures in those places, goes unexplored and Nohr gets hyperfocused on due to being where Leo is most of the time (which is pretty weird, given how Fates' gimmick was exploring both countries, not exploring one and leaving the other as a footnote), that the manga completely skips over any and all development the Hoshido siblings get (along with their reasons for joining Corrin), and that the weight of the "Corrin convinces everyone to jump" scene gets almost entirely cut, since it depended on the context from previous chapters where Corrin wandered the world inspiring loyalty in their troops to work, context that doesn't exist in this adaptation and just leads to the audience being told that Corrin inspired loyalty in the siblings instead of shown like in Rev, all of which would have very easily been fixed by making Corrin the MC.
Visualizing it is more effective than I think you give credit for. It's something many have spoken out wanting to see it. Missed detail for many or not it's something I appreciate. It's like how Silver and Giovanni are related, something barely mentioned but obviously known within the community, but seeing it explored in Pokemon's own manga made it compelling for many. As for Leo being the protag. The author was clearly more comfortable writing Leo than Corrin overall based on their history and was clear from the getgo to be Nohrian focused on the Rev side which is fair because Rev had Hoshidan favoritism especially in the lategame. I don't believe that this manga on its own should be the sole way someone experiences this story, but it's an excellent companion piece for Rev.
Fair enough on the visualization point. Even if they were more comfortable writing Leo, they were pretty clearly capable of writing Corrin too; for as many gripes as i have with their Nibelung characterization during certain scenes, most of Corrin's writing is solid enough, so i'm not sure that holds. I disagree with Rev having Hoshidan favoritism, even during lategame. There's only one map that takes place in Hoshido territory in the whole route (the Fort Jinya one), with the rest taking place in either the neutral countries or Valla, most of the stories in the neutral countries have a relatively even split between developing the Hoshido and Nohr siblings, and even if it's lame that Garon doesn't get a proper goodbye from his children while Mikoto and Sumeragi do, it's not like the Hoshidan goodbyes are particularly meaningful; it's just them being sad that they're losing their parents again, which doesn't really add much to them as characters. The only character whose parental (re)death gives them meaningful development is Azura. It's fine as a stand-alone story, but it really doesn't work as a companion piece for Rev tbh; it retcons a bunch of plot points, characterizations and worldbuilding from the story for little reason, such as Corrin being much more weak-willed at the start of the story, Leo meeting Corrin in Crykensia instead of Izumo, and Anankos trying to hide the sky split for literally no benefit to himself. I'd honestly argue that, for all the issues caused by seeing it as a stand-alone story, the issues caused by viewing it as something meant to be in the same continuity as Rev cause infinitely more lol
Glad to finally see a video on this topic. I hope this really blows up because this manga fucking rules
Manifesting Fates manga actually being talked about 🙏

Don't worry! I'm behind on the engage manga too 💀
Such a nice manga, wish they did more with it maybe the Hoshido route adaptation🥺
BR could've used an adaptation too yeah 🙏
Leo would've soloed tbh
SO TRUE
Damn, I've been meaning to make a video like this for the KH manga for ages.
Also took me forever to actually watch this, my bad.
Better late than never!

This seems like a good read, maybe this is the fates story expirience that balances out the great gameplay.
Thank you for covering this topic! Where can I read it though?
Sites like mangakakalot.com is what I used!
Thank you so much! I've been looking for it for so long
