19:00 absolutely correct. In no way does this show argue that what Rudy does is right, but it shows how someone could fall in that hole of depravity and eventually become a better and redeemable person.
Yeah, personal growth isn't immediate. Nobody who was bullied into reclusion and developed a porn addiction for decades would suddenly become perfect just for wanting to be better.
I still want to see a psychiatrist do a breakdown on this show. I feel like Rudeus probably fits the bill for at least one if not more than one psychological disorder.
In the light novel, Rudy's graduation task is to not only cast cumilonimbus, but keep it running for a full hour. He uses his knowledge of science to make the spell self-perpetuating so he doesn't need to drain his mana to support it the whole time and once Roxy sees that in about 10 minutes she's like "Nevermind. It's clear it's going to keep going until you tell it to stop." Also, Roxy is, herself, considered quite a magical prodigy. They don't mention it in the anime, but she has her own sipin-off manga about her time before meeting Rudy.

Age isn't some single slider that happens to advance 1 year per year. There are a thousand aspects to it and Rudy is a child in many of them. And the same things that caused him to stay childlike in many aspects also made it so that the ways in which he is mature, he matured in the wrong way, which requires the same solution, namely growing up again in the right way. But all of that, this entire second chance, hinges on you accepting that he is a child, and needs to learn like a child, make mistakes like a child, and grow like a child. And the moment people hyper-focus on "he's 34, he should be an adult", they've thrown the premise, and the subsequent lesson, out the door.

29:35 In the community we call him Earthdeus. Ru-deus when he was on Earth = Earthdeus. There's a bunch of these, when Rudeus acts creepy in the way he does, we call bonkdeus, when he is cutesy (rare creature - please preserve) Girldeus, etc. and many others.
Holy shit I did not realize how absolutely unhinged Early Rudy was wtf Can't wait for them to see that character development because these early episodes go hard with his flaws
The actual way your putting thought and time into these reactions for this show is honestly amazing just enjoy the world building enjoy the build up of Rudy but especially enjoy the journey we call Mushoku Tensei!
Im lovin your guys attitude towards the anime and the unique perspective you'll give. Compared to the others you're watching this anime seriously rather than "for fun" so you'll more likely not miss any details which is great and makes the discussions more engaging. people like Teaboo and Semblance of Sanity pulled this off as well with their reactions to this series but your perspective of casual anime goers who have little information of Isekai and its reputation lately is gonna be an interesting watch for me. Keep it up and looking forward to more videos of this series. Ive never been a fan of isekai until this show came along and considering the isekai reputation of how Oversaturated it is, it is very welcome.
The Superd are the guys with the green hair and red gem. Roxy is just a random demon of a (yet) unnamed race. People mistook her for a superd because her hair looks green under certain lighting.
Glad you're watching this :) They DO go places with these things. Very honest writing as you'll see an example of in a couple episodes (as far as I'm willing to go spoiler wise).
THANK YOU so much for acknowledging the fact that Rudy is quite significantly stunted emotionally, socially, and sexually. Too many people focus on the raw age, but have not considered just how much of life and growing that he's never experienced. He has such an incorrect and minimal understanding of boundaries, and this is going to be a LONG road for him to try and correct. He has decades of trauma and social/emotional skills to learn, and that's a road filled with failure and relapse. Looking forward to watching you two react to the rest of the show, but I can already tell you're going to love where it goes!
Loved the discussion about the episode, Mushoku Tensei really packs a lot of meaning in every episode that really necessitate this level of discourse in my opinion. Rudeus is a pretty complex character and can often times be pretty hard to endure in the beginning, so keep on keeping on! PS: Funny actually, when you guys were talking about a name for the person Rudeus was before he reincarnated, the name "Earthius" actually came to mind, pretty sure that is officially what the community started calling him lol
One of the most interesting things to me that you mentioned is the idea that Rudeus is an emotionally stunted 34 year old, not a well-adjusted 34 year old. That's a great way to look at things going forward.
37:48 In the manga "Mushoku Tensei - Roxy is serious" (in which Roxy is the main character) the village didn't seem to like her at first, kids were especially rude to her but after the village started to get to know her more, they really appreciate her help (the kids were still kinda rude tho). Also, 47:05 , Roxy didn't notice the light but heard him close the door in that manga.
22:20 well, that's exactly me. I rather not have connections than talk with strangers, yet I wish to have connections, so I just talk to people online, but when I get too close, it becomes scary. (This doesn't happen with family and former friends.)
Just a little bit insight, the reason rudy is genious in magic is because of his knowledge in science from his past life he understands the elements like fire and water better than them and also knows the principles of rain (the reason why his cumolonimbus was way bigger than roxy's, kinda lol) and other stuff
I just stumbled upon your channel and just got blown away by the dichotomy you guys show, you both look very young but in contrast think and speak with a maturity nowhere even close to that.
Anna I'm really impressed of how you analyze everything like a real psychiatrist would do, I'm really enjoying hearing you analyze everything the way you do, I've never seen anyone doing reaction videos trying to go so deep in, you are in a league of your own on that matter, you sound like a very smart girl, consider me your fan from now on 😁
The "ecchi" in this show kinda punches you when you aren't expecting it, whatever your feelings on it are it still comes in randomly. I love how much information y'all could infer as anime onlys, especially the scene where he gets kicked out of the house. I enjoy this series alot and can't wait for the Light Novels to be completed.
The most important thing to keep in mind when watching this show is that it is very SELF AWARE. It knows what is appropriate and what isn't. So when there are 'fan servicing', you are supposed to feel uncomfortable. It's done so intentionally. That is a good thing, not a bad thing. It's all done for the sake of immersing the viewer in this medieval world we're presented with. And as such, degeneracy should be expected, it's level of reveal only shows how realistic the story wants to be.
I'll quote part of a chapter of volume 1 that should add some context to this worlds "skill levels" (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Imperial and Divine). I don't think this is brought up in as much detail in the Anime, so I don't think its a spoiler. *"To help restore some of Paul's honor, here, let me talk about some of his more amazing points. Now, I admit that he was a man with plenty of faults, and was, in fact, undeniably human garbage. So why do this?* *Because he was strong. These were his skills:* *Sword God Style: Advanced* *Water God Style: Advanced* *North God Style: Advanced* *"Yeah. Advanced in all three schools. To put that into perspective, they said that it took a talented individual a good ten years of dedication to reach the level of Advanced in a given school. To put it in Kendo terms, it was somewhere around the fourth or fifth dan. Intermediate level was somewhere around first through third dan, and was the rank at which someone would be considered a full-fledged Knight. To reach Saint-level required the skills of someone the equivalent of sixth dan or higher."* *"Essentially, Paul possessed skills equivalent to someone who'd reach fourth dan in Kendo, Judo, and Karate- And he'd given up on all of those before finishing his training. He made a poor excuse for an adult, but in terms of strength, the man was a certified badass. Moreover, for someone only in his mid twenties, he had an almost scary amount of real-world combat experience."* This also applies to the magic schools. So Rudeus knowing all the elemental types to Advanced rank at age 5 (with Water being Saint) is even more impressive.
I have seen this anime twice and watched so many MT reaction videos but your discussion really brought new perspective, excited for the future episodes ❤️
Love your analysis. Keep it up. Excited to catch to your Mushoku Tensei journey. It’s a fantastic Novel story and it’s much larger than what you might think just from Season 1 that you’ll watch. Though you get some glimpses. Development of characters especially Rudeus & World Building is master level for any Japanese Novel in the world.
He already knows the other elements. You become known for the first element that you master. So if you reach Saint level in water magic, you're a Saint class water mage. If you later reach king class with fire, then you're a king class fire mage, but that does not mean you're unable to cast king class magic of other elements, just that your first king class spell was that of fire.
The weakness of any mage relying* healing magic is it's often impossible to use it on their own critical injuries. Now, Rudy is in an interesting position with silent casting, though he hasn't shown the ability to cast magic without movement yet. Not to mention, you won't be using it if you're unconscious.
Well.....there are very few animes I enjoy as much as when I see someone starting their Mushoku Tensei journey. This one season of show is so long, and so PACKED with detail, character, art, music, intruige, mystery, power exposition, plot set up, admiration, and hope. I'm sure ya'll are done, or are somewhere far ahead, but, I greatly look forward to seeing ya'll grow ever more attached to Rudi and his new world.

First day of school is normally supposed to be a scary but pleasant one, i just wish i could remember mine... from what i've been told i was beaten up by older students and left unconscious out on the school oval :) ( mind you this was 20 odd years ago so i think my parents/brother that found me may have exaggerated it a little over the years :P )
In the LN or WN the goal of using this spell was to make it last. In the thought process, its the same with regarding the actual storms formation, cold air hot air same sciencey stuff. He exceeded the time limit using this premise of making it run do to setting up its formation to work as is, rather than continue it to run on the power of mana. Or something like that. little nice details. This adaptation does a phenomonal job and even improves some points from the source material, but theres still some things that would still be nice to have that are omitted due to pacing and development. Also, again, dont skip intro openings. they are tailored to the story progression.
Haha I discovered you just in time for episode 2. I feel so lucky 😄. I wanted to point out someing about the pervyness in the show. I believe it all has a point. It's all from the MCs perspective and is one of the key things that shows his growth. He wont be completely different by the end but you should be able to see a noticable difference

Omg insta sub, keep with this show! It's such a good story and the character growth on Rudy is absolutely perfectly written. My favorite world/story I've ever experienced! 🔥
My first day of school was weird. I remember arguing with a teacher about their question not being specific enough. I think he asked me what the colour of the sky was. Blue, obviously. I wasn't blind. But since he hadn't specified at what time and weather, I purposefully botched the quiz by saying red. I was a very weird kid, I'll admit.

@@ivansoto9723 I'm pretty sure it's meant to be that way. If we're uncomfortable watching it think how uncomfortable Rudy is BEING it.
But yeah, their new show is kinda sus.
13:54
That is the voice of a man who is currently experiencing true despair.
enjoyed your discussion. One of the few people who really understand rudeus' character
the best thing about MT is the translation from LN to anime, it is done so well, the studio have done a huge job at staying true to the original story and relly just gave it life, too many LN got a bad adaptation but MT has got all the love it deserved
The studio behind this was specifically made to animate the entire story. Look forward to it. It will be done.
I’m glad ur noting down even the smallest of thing cuz throughout the whole show they trickle bits of information so making sure you remember stuff is important
Despite her look Roxy was just as old as Rudy in his previous life, when he was born. So at his 5th birthday she was 39.
Holy shit I did not realize how absolutely unhinged Early Rudy was wtf
Can't wait for them to see that character development because these early episodes go hard with his flaws
It's crazy how they manage to make the second episode of the season feel like the last episode of the season upon first watch.
I love the very in-depth and insightful analysis. Looking forward to your future reactions to this epic anime.
"What if their was mind reading and telepathy"...
XD
I'm so damn excited to see y'all talk about the cooler parts of this show rather than just the introduction.
The actual way your putting thought and time into these reactions for this show is honestly amazing just enjoy the world building enjoy the build up of Rudy but especially enjoy the journey we call Mushoku Tensei!
This reaction is something Imma look forward to each week!
Glad you're watching this :)
They DO go places with these things.
Looking forward to watching you two react to the rest of the show, but I can already tell you're going to love where it goes!
im so glad they're doin it
Loved the discussion about the episode, Mushoku Tensei really packs a lot of meaning in every episode that really necessitate this level of discourse in my opinion.
Now this is quality reactions. well done.
Attention to detail, good discussions, excelent comentary.
New sub right here
One of the most interesting things to me that you mentioned is the idea that Rudeus is an emotionally stunted 34 year old, not a well-adjusted 34 year old.
Just a little bit insight, the reason rudy is genious in magic is because of his knowledge in science from his past life he understands the elements like fire and water better than them and also knows the principles of rain (the reason why his cumolonimbus was way bigger than roxy's, kinda lol) and other stuff
loving the deeper dive discussions at the end of the reactions.
What a good discussion! Its great to see you see thinking so deeply about the show! Looking forward to see you guys react to the rest
I remember tearing over the Roxy Goodbye scene cus of Rudy's lines.. my first time crying over Isekai
Coming back and watching this episode knowing when and how the next time the see each other again happens makes me cry
Lets go! been waiting for more of your MT reactions👌
I just stumbled upon your channel and just got blown away by the dichotomy you guys show, you both look very young but in contrast think and speak with a maturity nowhere even close to that.
Enjoy the ride, because it will be the journey of a lifetime.
I think the comments along with me cam agree that both of u are the best reaction for this series on utube.
Very excited to your further reaction and discussion of this show!
So why do this?*
*Because he was strong. These were his skills:*
*Sword God Style: Advanced*
*Water God Style: Advanced*
*North God Style: Advanced*
*"Yeah. To reach Saint-level required the skills of someone the equivalent of sixth dan or higher."*
*"Essentially, Paul possessed skills equivalent to someone who'd reach fourth dan in Kendo, Judo, and Karate- And he'd given up on all of those before finishing his training. He made a poor excuse for an adult, but in terms of strength, the man was a certified badass. Moreover, for someone only in his mid twenties, he had an almost scary amount of real-world combat experience."*
This also applies to the magic schools. So Rudeus knowing all the elemental types to Advanced rank at age 5 (with Water being Saint) is even more impressive.
I have seen this anime twice and watched so many MT reaction videos but your discussion really brought new perspective, excited for the future episodes ❤️
love seeing ya'll actually discuss what you watched
I still find it amazing Paul slashed that boulder using a *wooden* practice sword. Also, some people call past Rudy as "Eartheus"
*MAJOR TEASER*
Yes. There is death in this world. And when it comes, it hits hard.
Just refreshed TH-cam to see an aot upload. Got rlly excited for a sec 😂
I like guys how you focused on this anime, this anime has alot of detail you need to understand this anime to enjoy this anime
Really love the discussion. Level headed and detailed.
I'm sure ya'll are done, or are somewhere far ahead, but, I greatly look forward to seeing ya'll grow ever more attached to Rudi and his new world.
caravaggio is the new shallot
good intro!! you sold me:)
Great reaction and awesome after ep thoughts and discussion, this is gonna be so good so so great from what can tell with the first eps here.
Liking this all so far, thanks for reacting to this stellar show
So glad you liked this, havn't seen many intressting reactions to this show, but the show is one of my favorites, so it's great to see, i'll stick around for the rest :)
also, watching this discussion it sounds like Arcane would be a great fit to watch.
THANK YOU 👏👏👏
In the LN or WN the goal of using this spell was to make it last.
He wont be completely different by the end but you should be able to see a noticable difference
again, really love the discussion chapter
I love the opening/ending song
Rudeus now *_Saint_* Class Water Mage
Roxy also *_Saint_* Class Water Mage
But if you don't know about rank here it is
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
- Saint (Roxy, Rudeus)
- King
- Emperor
- God
good you are doing this series YOU BETTER HURRY SEASON 2 IS COMING OUT SOMETIME THIS YEAR
Amazing video, really enjoying watching you experience this masterpiece. I need more. Now! 😄
I'm loving the discussions
Omg insta sub, keep with this show! It's such a good story and the character growth on Rudy is absolutely perfectly written. My favorite world/story I've ever experienced! 🔥
Go re-watch the first minute in episode 1,
It's the answer to your question if he did save those 3 students.
Their reaction to the “Turning Point 2” episode will be legendary!
Bruh ... come on ... I'd say delete the comment tbh.
