    Great value quality modern handguns. Of all, Canik is my favorite. I own the TP9DA and the TP9SF. Very pleased with their performance. My very favorite handguns are the Walther PDP and the CZ P10. Then Canik 💪🏼😎🇺🇲

    I love my Girsan Regard MC. Mine doesn’t have the rail, but I didn’t feel like waiting for one with a rail. I purchased a 30 round mag from Beretta, and a Pro-Mag 18 rounder, along with the 18 round Mac-Gar that the weapon came with. I am trying a few different styles of grips and holsters to see what I like the most. I am a reservist and I wasn’t going to pass up such a smoking deal on a spot on clone of the M9 that I will have to qualify with. The man I bought it from put the Girsan and the Beretta next to each other and demonstrated that it accepted the magazines. The Girsan Regard Mc actually had a better finish than the Beretta. I’m at 200 rounds into the break in period and it’s been flawless.

      Forgot to mention I own to regard MCs one full size in FDE one compact in Black. The only thing I changed on them were the grips (which took some fitting) and so I could use my USGI Surplus M9 magazine the slide release lever, changed that to a Beretta 92fs M9 release so Beretta magazine especially usgi magazines so the slide will lock open after the last round, with the stock unit it would not hold back only with the magazines that came with it not Beretta mags. Now instead of spending $35 on a Girsan magazines I can get a $10 new in the rap usgi magazine that'll work perfectly fine, all mags function and lock back 100% now.

    I don't consider the Canik (which I have as well as a Glock 17) to be a budget gun. It is well built has a bunch of nice features and is a great shooter with an incredible trigger. I would rather think of it as a "cost effective" pistol. You get a lot of bang for the buck!

    Add Tisas Zigana to the list. My model "K" , DA/SA is an excellent handgun for $229. (pre pandemic)

    I have 2 Girsan MC's (Beretta clones) one is full sized the other is the compact (centurion size). I paid about $350 two years ago for the full size and a couple of months ago $475 for the compact. They are both outstanding weapons. The full-size can still be had for around 350 if you hunt them down. I believe the compact is more expensive because it's a specialty version of it and they are far fewer of them on the market they are very hard to find. There is a version of the compact with the frame mounted safety and no decocker but I was not interested in that. Another reason why I wasn't interested in it was because that the grip was actually part of the backstrap, so once you remove the grip there was no back strap you could not use conventional grips on it.

    I own the Girsan MC28 SA (the model w/o the red dot) and love it. And I agree about the grip being a tad smooth. I use talon grip tape on most of my guns but only place it on the front and back of the grips like you find on 1911's. I do not like any on the sides, just doesn't feel necessary to have them there (for me).

  • @plantlady1227

    I purchased a Stoeger STR9 but mine only came with one magazine. I'm not unhappy with the gun itself, and was even able to fully load the 15 rounds with the help of a loader tool that came with it - this seems to get easier as the spring gets compressed and used. My main complaint is that I cannot find additional magazines ANYWHERE. They just can not be found for love or money and nothing else is compatible with it. I'm actually considering a Girsan 9mm which seems similar but I can actually get additional magazines for it. Stoeger really needs to fix the magazine supply issue!

    Great review! I love good value/budget pistols and Turkish ones are on top of my list I have three of the five you reviewed. I just purchased a Sar9 and tried to run some blazer 115 gr through i couldn’t get through a magazine without a FtF or FtE. I’m thinking I may need to run hotter ammo due to the beefier internals but I hope I didn’t get a lemon. Everything I’ve read about these are that they run flawlessly - so hoping it just needs to be broken in with something a little heavier than 115. Thoughts ?

    • @gunsammodrones
      @gunsammodrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I had it out today and wondered if maybe they make a lighter recoil spring... The recoil spring is pretty stiff...115’s are probably too small... I guess Ill need to get some 124’s...

    • @HSA-ug7qp
      @HSA-ug7qp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Guns, Ammo & Drones update: ran couple hundred 124 grain ammo through the sar9 and switched to 115 grain wolf ammo. Not a single hiccup. The one thing I did is kept the slide locked back for a couple days before running it again and it’s now running flawlessly.

      @@HSA-ug7qp I pretty much do that for all the Turkish pistols then I can run anything in them after!!! I also love that the canik as well as others are built to run nato spec ammo for a very high round count, cause they last forever! Canik runs their's to 60k rds of nato ammo and then they still pass nato accuracy specs!!! I have a feeling most of the Turkish manufacturers do similarly!!!

    I have the ST9. It's a very well made gun. Mine came with 3 mags, a mag loader, extra rear grip inserts, etc... What I don't like and you did not mention, is that the mags do not drop free... Loaded or unloaded. There's ribs in the mag well that keep the mags from dropping free. It's a minor inconvenience. I would only use this gun for target practice and for self-defense only if it's all I had available because of the mags.

    IMO anyone would be hard pressed to find a polymer strikerfired pistol that offers the quality of construction, reliability, and level of ergonomics that Canik brings to the table. To be fair Canik did clone what I feel is one of the top polymer pistols on the market; the PPQ by Walther. What's even more crazy is that the trigger is equally as refined as the Walther if not better and comes in at a pricepoint that will allow you more ammo to practice with upon initial purchase than the Walther does.
    The other thing that Canik did right is it borrowed the full package concept that Springfield Armory used when they first brought the XD line of pistols to market. They include a rudimentary cleaning kit, tools, a paddle style poly holster, bore lock, additional grip modules, and more than one magazine. If you get an Elite series the package will include spare fiber optic rods in two colors and it all comes in a lockable and somewhat well made hardshell carrying case with formed insert that organizes everything neatly.
    Depending on the model of TP9 you get will dictate what comes in the box, but still for the retail price (which until you get into the Salient Arms collaborations) remains sub-400 dollars making it IMO the best value on the market for a first time pistol owner/concealed carrier. They do not have to rush out to purchase additional items such as a belt and holster to start carrying.
    I see arguments in the comment section where people say they won't own a firearm manufactured in Turkey because of the country's political state. Honestly, I could care less what the governmental and political views are of a country of origin of a firearms manufacturer. If a company makes a proven firearm at an impeccable value that will serve its intended purpose undoubtedly, then I am going to buy it and carry it. The only politics that I take into account when it comes to protecting my family and my life is the preservation of the 2nd Amendment; case closed. That is why I just put a TP9 Executive Combat Elite in lay-away. If you thought the regular SFX Elite was a great pistol with a phenomenal trigger you haven't shot the Executive Combat Elite yet! IMO it is the pinnacle of what a 650 dollar pistol is supposed to be. There is not a Glock on the market that comes anywhere near it in a stock format, and to make a Glock that could compare would cost you close to 2k and a great deal of time away from your sidearm. Your pistol would have more frequent flyer miles than you 🤣😂🤣! Just saying.

    The Regard isn't a clone. It's Girsans take on a Beretta based on features the Turkish military, police, and other nato entities over there wanted. I read that Girsan is ISO and NATO certified and they have rights to make that gun and to modify it as needed for the nato contracts.

    I have 2 of these guns and love them. I have 3 Caniks and if I could only have one gun it would be the TP9SF Elite. I take these over my Walther, Sig, S&W and Beretta. They are affordable but I certainly don't consider them "budget". The quality, ergonomics and reliability are there. For those who don't want to buy from Turkey these companies are privately owned and Turkey still is a NATO partner. Quit buying Chinese products, they are our enemy and also have human rights issues..........

    • @gunsammodrones

      Agree with you... Budget certainly doesnt mean cheap or junk and only refers to cost of purchase over more well known handguns... Budget in the Caniks case is a great thing... The Canik has one of the best triggers on the market and from what I can tell, the quickest reset... Shoots great, reliable, accurate and gives all these 500+ guns a run for their money...

      Sar 9 for sure… The Beretta APX is a yes… Any used Glock 9mm you can find would be an awesome buy if under $500… Canik sure would be a good choice… Your $500 budget allows for many choices… Lets say you cant find a Glock, then the Sar 9 would be my #1, APX would be #2, Canik would be #3, Girsan would be up there at #5 and if you can find a used M&P 2.0, that would be #4… I love all my pistols I just mentioned and I could be biased a bit… I might get crap for this but I finally got to shoot my Stoeger STR-9 and I love it… Shoots more comfortably than my Glock 17… You can find them under $400 I think… Good hunting

    *Turkey is seizing opportunity here in America, where our regulation restricted firearm industry, has become overpriced, lacks pride in craftsmanship, and is fading away.*
    *I haven't seen any Turkish firearm come in that's a P.O.S., and I sure cant say that about the U.S. manufacturers. (Think Remington, etc.)*
    *12:43**; I take it you don't own a PPQ M1. (my ccw) - And that's the pistol that has a lot in common with these. (sort of like PPQ / Glock / HK hybrids).*
    *Also; perfect stippling, as you do not want texture impeding your trigger finger & thumb, to retrieve your firearm from concealment.*
    *6:30** This pistol could easily be custom stippled in those textured areas, (melting method) but I wouldn't touch the smooth spots.*
    *The design may be for those who prefer no stippling, which depends on one's philosophy of use.*
    *These pistols have many ergonomic features, and it seams to me that none of the design dynamics were coincidental, but operationally well thought out.*
    *Cool video showcasing these five very overlooked pistols......Thanks!*
