Just been messing with the demo and its just so intuitive, feels natural, everything i wanted them to do with Maschine software, might have to sell that to buy this, nice tune by the way too
Bloody fantastic. I can't wait to buy this. I was listening with my DT150s and it sounded great - smooth and creamy. I totally get what you are saying. Thanks for sharing.
It's funny you mention the sound quality.. I was just thinking how full it sounded and all you have on there is that limiter. It just sounds so clean. Again, thank you so much. I love Bitwig already.
And here we are two years later - what are your thoughts on Bitwig as of recent? Have you had a chance to really play & learn more about it? Bitwig is my first DAW, and I agree - it is definitely pretty intuitive. Awesome work w/presets & built-in tools, btw. Lovely tune.
I have to admit that there are some key points in terms of usability which keep this program from being perfect: Mainly, the mouse-keyboard-GUI-interaction, by which I mean using the whole power of these devices: Changing knobs and faders just by turning the mouse wheel (should be used for navigation in the module panel, too), switching between painting, selecting and zooming just by triggering ctrl, alt, etc… this breaks down my workflow insanely, because it takes a lot of time switching your “instrument” (pen, select tool, …) manually instead of generalizing “ctrl ⇒ selecting things” etc. The worst thing in this aspect is that you can't just delete things w/ the right mouzbtn - long story short, there are lots of UNUSED combinations which could improve the workflow DRASTICALLY. Apart from that, the device nesting (containers!!) in combination w/ their modulation workflow (don't forget the macro knobs) is AWESOME. Nothing more to say here.
your video helped me to understand how to make sound with bitwig. i have to say that some of these effects are stellar souding, after trying them myself. definitely some serious ear candy in bitwig.
I'm skeptical about the audio-engine thing. Maybe you're just talking about the built-in effects (which can be absolutely great and obviously have a huge impact on the sound) but in a DAW the "audio engine" shouldn't color the sound at all. Using the same samples, loops or recordings or MIDI VSTi synthesizer sequences in any DAW and exporting the finished project should produce bit-for-bit identical audio files which can and has been verified while comparing other DAWs via phase reversal and cancellation... Should, unless Bitwigs whole engine was indeed programmed with some subtle "warmth" in mind, now that would be interesting.
Yeh, It just 'sounds' lovely.. feels like less work involved to get a pro sound.. I might just be looking at this all through rose tinted glasses though.. deeper investigation is necessary...
So - oh my god - this is incredible.. Im a lifelong multi instrumentalist with a head full of 'organic' 'human' songs created and perfomed by instrument playing parfermers.. Its how come it ever came to the point where we say..Hey!! - What about us with your BPM mayhem?? Humans still wanna make music guys.. Gods teeth.. Cater for it..x
I agree with you on the audio engine. Honestly I think in terms of EDM it's got my favorite sound, and I have just about every DAW there is- Logic,Live, Maschine 2.0, Sonar X3, Sequoia, Samplitude, Studio One, Reaper, Digital Performer, and more I'm just not thinking of. My roommate also produces (which is what helped build up my DAW collection, we have studio together and each own about half the software. I haven't experimented with using it for recording acoustic recording really, but I feel Logic or Pro Tools will probably be a little more ahead in that regard. I constantly have to remind people that this is version 1, it doesn't matter how long they beta tested it. Logic and Cubase literally were the invention of what we called the Digital Audio Workstation, and people still complain about missing features. I'm sorry that was so long, but as you seem to have a tutorial kinda thing going on and this is your offer of a first look, I wanted to share a bug I've experienced and others may too involving VSTs. When you use your own sounds (start from an initialized patch and go from there) I heavily suggest saving it as a preset if you don't already. I'm working on my first track in Bitwig, and every time I open it, I have to reload the patches/presets I created for the track .because it will reset them to the plugin's default patch. thought I'd share that and see if maybe you or anyone else ran into the same thing. I've already posted it on Bitwig's "board", but answers and organization are rare on that mess.
So easy to put tracks together in Bitwig it could do with a better piano roll editor to assist chord progression and melody composition using midi but it's a minor grumble and is likely to be updated before too long overall well impressed.
Definitely some elements of all things (i.e. DAWs). Definitely not a bad idea though. Elements of Logic, mainly Live, and some Cubase for good measure. Makes a sweet looking DAW. Indeed, it needs some upgrades. Otherwise, a great start.
Vadim Volkoff Sorry! Can't say right now.. early days.. Love the 'sound' of Bitwig still.. has a real vibe.. it's missing a few features of Live though.. can't see that being the case for long mind you..
Toky Tok Beatz Bitwig is made by people who made the initial Ableton.. so probaby it's better..fixed everything what missing or not so good in ableton.. :o I must say i got into bitwig way faster than than ableton.. i gave up with ableton quite fast...
+Music Production Tutorials I think the "warmth" is a psychological effect due to the GUI of Bitwig, compared to Abletons cold and technocratic grey GUI.
Awesome vid Danny! Tidy little beat too, sounds great. Everything I've heard from Bitwig has a really lovely sound to it - can't wait to hear what people come up with using it. Do you know if there's a demo version? Bitwig website has been down every time I've checked it!
I'm trying to record my producing sessions; I don't know why the audio is not coming out in the recording. Is there an especific setting on Bitwig or OS. Which program you use for your recordings and what setting I need in order to have the audio recorded when I'm producing. Thanks
Hmm, may half to save up for this one cause Studio one while lovely I feel like its handicapped when it comes to EDM/House genre its missing certain tools.
Shit i just got used to fl studio, been working on it for 2 months now.. is it worth it changing to bitwig guys? Also can someone who had fl studio tell me how better is bitwig compared to it? It will be like starting from scratch again >.
If you've only just started getting the hang of Fl Studio then no it's not worth it, fl should be fine for now (This is assuming you've only been producing for 2 months). Although it completely depends on what you are more comfortable using and if you've got the doe to spunk. Just keep producing in fl until you get tired of it and then start thinking about upgrading
Thanks for the advice and sorry for the late response! Yes i have been producing only for a few months now (well first months i only learned how to use the daw) I like fl a lot, i dont think i will ever change because if i do, i believe it will change how i make music although it could be better. What are you using, assuming you produce too. Btw, i will release soon a remix for Timmo Hendriks - Hands up contest on soundcloud! Be sure to check it :)
I use ableton, I use to use fl but I found the mixer too unintuitive and decided to get ableton.Never say never, you may one day try a new software and find its much better laid out for your taste. Just keep going with FL for now, sure bro post the link as a reply when your done with it
I have been using fl studio for 3 years, and I just bought bitwig 1 hour ago lol. I wanted ableton but did not have $800, so I bought bitwig instead. Can't wait to try it out. I can say that there are a lot of features in FL that get annoying and like Uptilll8 said, the mixer is one of them.
Uptilll8 well here is the mix, finished it weeks ago but forgot to answer here :P soundcloud.com/djeskolive/timmo-hendriks-coldy-holmes-hands-up-esko-remix

perhaps the most basic looks & workflow, but lokkin at the details such as the modulation system etcetc, it does not feel like a clone to me. But even if it was a clone, I would be happy of all the features ADDED and realised BETTER ;)
The fact that you can see what exactly is coming into your returns at a glance put a big smile on my face :)
Just been messing with the demo and its just so intuitive, feels natural, everything i wanted them to do with Maschine software, might have to sell that to buy this, nice tune by the way too
Stunning!! Cant wait to buy it! Great tut by the way, Danny!

So happy your doing tuts on this DAW, i'm caught up with too many other DAW's and i'm just gonna attempt to master this beast so thankyou:)
And here we are 2 years later. What's your view on Bitwig 2.X as opposed to alternative DAWs/

Really nice work on this tutorial, loving the look of Bitwig, very tempting.
Had put my headphones on to hear your track better... Sounds really nice
Great tutorial - really gives a glimpse at Bitwig abilities and I already love Bitwig!
I'm skeptical about the audio-engine thing. Yeah, nice demo, I think it sounds good and feels comfortable, thanks for sharing.
HI Danny, was just clicking around on your channel and came back to this video. This is a pretty dope beta you know. Really like it a lot
Awesome, it does sound rather warm alright, maybe it's just a dark illusion ! Cheers for the first look, lovin the vibe of this DAW from the start..
Yeh, It just 'sounds' lovely.. feels like less work involved to get a pro sound.. I might just be looking at this all through rose tinted glasses though.. deeper investigation is necessary...
Great track great kit
Another nice review. I can't wait to see your take on working with automation which from what I've read should be a bit unique from most DAWs.
proper deep house!
I am not a fanboy of any daw so this feels good choice. I have tried Ableton, Reaper, Cubase, Cubasis etc
convinced me to DL the demo! great video

Now you know who I am? Lol!
who you am? Ha ha
Great job! Very cool groove for 1 hour, well done man ;)

Dope Danny !!
Never fails... any daw you touch you rock that dope house groove!! I am enjoying Bitwig So far !

cant wait to get my hands on it :P
have you tried the 32/64 bit bridge? how heavy is it for your computer?
thanks for the review :D
Nice tune!
Great video Danny.. I agree about the warm sound. And I love the level meters.. So responsive. You made me want it :-)
BITWIG! My first impressions ;)
Hi Danny!!! Dilemma!!! Bitwig studio or Ableton live? Please make a comparison!
Vadim Volkoff Sorry! Can't say right now.. early days.. Love the 'sound' of Bitwig still.. has a real vibe.. it's missing a few features of Live though.. can't see that being the case for long mind you..

+Ike Haze I think its not .. to me the gui looks cheap, but the audio engine doesnt! sound cheap

Cool video ! Thanks. How can I do the same level meters in Bitwig 3?
Can not wait till i get this but the site traffic is mental ATM!
More Bitwig tutorials in the future Danny?
Yep, i'll be diving into this for sure.. still rotating the other DAWs too though..
it sounds good - how is the audio engine?
Can I donate? You're the best man. And very nice accent + voice.
Well made, thanks for the video!
Really fantastic!!
sounds tight great review! thank you
thats a nice bit of house man
Thanks you bro
I like this problems cause it kind of looks like ableton. Can you tell me, is it as intensive on your pc specs as ableton is, or is it more optimized.
THANK YOU. Will follow you closely.
I'm trying to record my producing sessions; I don't know why the audio is not coming out in the recording. Is there an especific setting on Bitwig or OS. Which program you use for your recordings and what setting I need in order to have the audio recorded when I'm producing. Thanks
what about macros?are there something like that?if yes, is it easy to map them?
max msp works on it as well?
Hi Danny. One question: there is a way to detach, for instance, the arrange view and the mixer view? Thx
Awesome, thanks.
Hmm, may half to save up for this one cause Studio one while lovely I feel like its handicapped when it comes to EDM/House genre its missing certain tools.
Great stuff, thank you.
Hi, do you have a Sking like that for Ableton? could we download it ? is perfect on dark grey and oranges and reds. thanks.
blue yeti mic, a good mic ;)
cool man!
They should make their price point similar to Reaper for more support I feel.
Guys we need this new daw. Its great modern design. 64 and 32 bit. midid ans wav.
Shit i just got used to fl studio, been working on it for 2 months now.. is it worth it changing to bitwig guys? Also can someone who had fl studio tell me how better is bitwig compared to it? It will be like starting from scratch again >.

holly banana... 9 years...!?! oh my god, I am an old one 😂
My Winner DAW is cubase 7
I've got a rap/grime tune that needs polishing off. If you're experienced with this kind of stuff and can help me, send me a message!
very similar with ableton
it looks very similar to ableton
wtf? where is the sequencer? o.O
AssShitFuck Studios it's 2 sequencers and THEYRE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. But it's a DAW. Otherwise it would be "Bigwig Sequencer" wouldn't it!
There will always be complainers. Just check out KVR.
wtf. the grid is 5 years old ?
where do or how do I get this software ? I heard it comes with bundle but I recently brought keylab49 and V Collection already in the last 2 months. this should be free to all users.
bitwig.com Fyi keylab and v collection is from another company so there's no way bitwig should be free.
yh ive found that out, download a demo, reminds me of ableton live...looks like there interface
Get the free version on bitwigcrack.com that includes similar features to the full ( paid ) edition of Bitwig Studio .
It looks a bit too 'toyish' to my taste... Prefer the way ableton looks
Abelton gui is so dated bitwig blows it out off the water!
I am a bit disappointed with this. It feels like an Ableton clone.
perhaps the most basic looks & workflow, but lokkin at the details such as the modulation system etcetc, it does not feel like a clone to me. But even if it was a clone, I would be happy of all the features ADDED and realised BETTER ;)
It is better than Ableton, I'm sorry. Also i don't think it is a clone. Ableton is good, but just can't stand at the way it looks.
XQuber Glad this makes you happy. I am not ready to say its better.
Jhonatan V I am not there with you on that one.
Redless Valy Cool. Never said they were identical I said it feels like a clone.
cubase is better
