- My good friend Lee over at 1st Floor Audio
Asked me to take a look at one of his favourite mixers
that had died quite a few years ago,
It has lived in a plastic bag in a cupboard.
These things are quite sturdy but tend to suffer with
poor quality power supply units.
Hope you enjoy the video,

THANKS Paul for repairing my mixing desk. To be able to watch the repair process is great 👍. What a great job 👏 👍
Thanks bud, That`s appreciated
4:15 I was so invested in that tiny bug who appeared from under the glue blob, that when the hoover came out I was like NOOOO!!! 😨
LOL cheers for spotting it, It now lives in my dirty underpants pile
Good video. Very useful reference. For anyone looking at their own repair, if it doesn’t turn on then go right to the power supply. Thorough is good and makes sense for this video. In real life this repair could have been completed much faster by following a more logical order.
Many thanks for watching
I have a eurodesk that had to have the psu recapped, its very common with behringer power supplys. Hasnt changed my opinion of the desk at all, its still awesome.
have sl2442fx pro has E2 on the fx read out only on the right side nothing on the left side. any ideas? triedto factory reset dsp but still comes up with E2 code on screen?
I don`t know a lot about the Behringer equipment but I think an E2 error is possibly a button stuck down when the unit is powered up. Might be worth taking lid off and giving all the sliders and buttons a nice isopropyl alcohol clean :). Hope this helps
🙂👍
How did you get the PCB away from the front plate so easily? I have a MX2804A that I'm trying to clean some sticky/scratchy pots & I can't get the PCB off. Can you spray alcohol or Deoxit on the plate to seep down and get things loose? Yes, I have all the screws off the PCB.
Normally it is just 1 tiny screw that I miss that causes a PCB to hold fast, Also some PCBs will hold on for dear life if a substance has been accidently poured over it.
The glue they use on ribbons can stick to the inner side of the face plate also.
I would try and lift the edges of the PCB in a rocking motion and at the same time keep an eye on the bend of the board. Hope this helps and cheers for watching. :)
After staring at this mixer for awhile, I decided to see if all the Deoxit I used had done anything. Got both L & R outputs, some pots had freed up and need to squirt a few more. Don't have Channel 3 but never did since I got more inputs than I'll ever need. What do you want for free, right? Thanks for the tips. @@pjretroredux
Don’t pry the board. Press on the pots. If the PCB is flexing anywhere that’s a fault waiting to happen. Slow even pressure is your best bet. Use a hairdryer to soften any sticky gunk.
I have the same mixer, first there was a supply problem after the supply was repaired and installed there was an IC on the mixer board which immediately caught fire, what was the problem thank you
ooof! that`s rough can the IC be replaced or did it cause too much damage?
hey pj was wondering if you know what size the fader channel because some of the channel no sound and i been i need to replace the faders
Hey there, Might just need a good clean out with some Isopropyl alcohol and some ear buds. If the sliders sit for a while they can often lose connectivity.
