Trade rumours are just that rumours. This is just hype from the Toronto sports media. IF and that's a big if anything happens it will not be until Marners bonus is paid out on July 1st.

Over 10 mil left on his contract and one year.. Not sure what you expect to get back... Petersson, Yager a 1st and 2nd is more than enough for you to save that 10 mil. I wouldn't do that if I were the Penguins.. Petersson is a great defenseman and Yager will be a solid 2nd liner
If they could have got Doughty instead of Tavares way back I would have been thrilled, because I felt like they needed a defenceman way back then, I was actually very disappointed when they signed Tavares. Getting Doughty now would be too little too late.
He was invisible this year in the playoffs, Drew Doughty is not as useful as JT
@@jamesbruce8749 I was basically trying to say I was disappointed at the time they signed John Tavares in 2018, because they had a ton of talent up front, but were lacking on defence then. Doughty is over the hill now, as is Tavares. The Leafs need a star defenceman in their prime. Not an aging centre (for what he's currently being paid), or an aging defenceman.

Marner might as well go to free agency next summer, if all the Leafs are acquiring is a 35 year old Drew Doughty who is at the end of his career. Five seasons earlier would have been the time to do this trade.

Considering the rumours were that Dubas was prepared to trade him last year, I don’t think Dubas is bringing him in.
At this point there is no tkachuk or ekblad available, so trading marner just to trade him is stupid,

Marner would go to LA NY and maybe Colorado. Make it easy Marner to LA for :Mike Anderson. NY will need to give up Fox. Lehkonen will have to come back to Toronto from Colorado. Doughty could work in a pinch along with a first in 24 and a first in 25,
