in this week's video, come with me to the Victoria & Albert museum to visit their sold out exhibition, "Chanel Manifesto". This retrospective is the first of its kind in the UK and has arrived in London from a tour which started in Paris, and has travelled to Melbourne and Tokyo. No ticket? No problem- I'll walk you through the whole brilliant show!
Of course, we can't possibly go on an empty stomach, so we'll grab a slice of cake in the gorgeous V&A Café. There are 3 beautifully designed areas to gaze at whilst we munch!

When I saw this appear in my feed I instantly leapt to my feet and did an excited little jig whilst literally squealing "Oh my, Queenie at the V&A... and Chanel!!! What a delight!!!" - which I think stands out a little, a lot around my neck of the woods.
Haha! That's brilliant! :) :) I'm so glad that this was up your street, Sarah, and I do hope you enjoyed it! It's so drisly and dismal this end, I needed a little Chanel dazzle!

What a gorgeous exhibit! The V & A did such a magnificent job of displaying all the beautiful clothing and accessories. It is so incredible to see how timeless Chanel's designs remain. Any of those evening gowns could be worn today at the Baftas or the Oscars. You really see how her influence lives on even today. A true testament to great design. Thank you, Queenie!❤
You are so right, Daphne, they are completely timeless. It's pretty remarkable how someone can create to achieve that over and over again.

Thank you, Queenie. I really enjoyed this video. It was lovely to see the exhibition as I'll never get to see it in person. 17 hours on a plane is a bit far to travel for it! Thanks to you, I get to enjoy lovely London.
I don't even really care for fashion that much, but this was very interesting and beautiful! It is amazing that she was making straight dresses while corsets where still being used, and today here suits are being worn exactly the same. Her vision was timeless! I wish I lived close enough to a big museum like that to see exhibitions. I used to go to LACMA when I was a new nurse living in Los Angeles. I loved it. Xoxo Kisses for Alfie and Hugs for you! :)

THANK YOU so very much for this lovely video, Queenie! I had the lovely pleasure of living in London in the 1990’s, and I took several Art History courses there. (I bought my very first Chanel bag in the boutique in Sloan Street). What a pleasure to see a mini tour of the V&A and all the amazing rooms and the staircases I trod all those years ago! An absolutely amazing vlog Miss Q. We saw a different kind of presentation from you, the expert lecturer in Fashion History, brilliant. The cafes were lovely, but of course, my favourite was the William Morris one. I don't know if I told you, but I have a Strawberry Thief face mask. We were both glued to the screen looking at the amazing dresses etc, and the dinky men's shorts and top ensemble. As you can imagine, I loved the perfume bottles. BTW, Chanel have a scent out called Boy, in memory of Boy Capell, it's beautiful. Loved every minute of the vlog. Nice to see you mentioned 'The Return' film from Karl, I think I told you about the other film that Karl made about Gabrielle's early fashion days called 'Once Upon a Time'. That one is on TH-cam too. xx
Oh, I love the Once Upon a Time - I remember watching it over and over when it was released! ♡ Swoon!
I wanted to try and film the perfume section more, but it was a small space, and we were kind of ushered through it quickly. There were cosmetics in there, too. :( I didn't know about Chanel naming a perfume after Cappell, and that's really made me rather pleased, so thank you!

Wonderful trip with you to the V & A. Loved the exhibit on Channel. Your commentary was first class. I can't decide if your PhD is iin History or Art, or Architecture. Brilliant!
Hi Ellen! Thanks so much, I'm so chuffed you enjoyed it! I did a PhD in Literature - but it was on Vogue magazine in the 1920s. Writers like Woolf, Huxley, Mitford, Sackfilled West & Dorothy Richardson all had words in the magazine back then. ♡
