nonsense. kerala land allows water seepage easily every where. no need of a mazhakuzhi. rainwater especially from ground and roof should not be directed near wells as it will pollute under ground water. avoid sloped terrain and level it. that's enough. no need of rain water collection also in kerala. instead allow rainwater seepage into ground instead of draining out from plot.

1. Actually, the rainwater may taste different, depending on the water you are consuming regularly. Its ph value is normally at 7. But the well water in your area may have ph value varying from 6.5 to 8.5 and so you may obviously feel a taste difference. 2. Depending on the debris, dusts in your area. It will be good to clean it prior to every rain season (twice in a year; NE monsson and SW monsoon). 3. Charcol part to be replaced every time. The other layers need to be cleaned thoroughly befor re-use. Better to use some screening in between each layers so that mixing of layers can be avoided to some extent. 4. For this you can chlorinate the well water. The frequency of chlorination can be decided based on the quantity of such wastes comes to the well. A permanent chlorination pot can be thought of. Pottassium permanganate can also be used for disinfection to some extent. Above all drink boiled water only. (in old days well water used to have all such wastages...) 5. The filter system shown in this vedio is insufficient to take care of the huge quantity of water from the roof. Also the flush out valve size is not big enough to divert the first flow for heavy rain. The area of filter media (not the thickness) and other connection systems are to designed based on the yield from the roof. According to the quantity of water you decided to divert to the well, overflowing provisions to be provided on either over the roof or near filter tank.
