So touching. So beautiful. We hardly hear it in this generation

Just seems like music today, especially pop, is all about being vulgar and "edgy".

Yes. Jolson THE Anniversary Song singer. Cosby and also Andy Williams do well but it is the music and the words that keep this song singing in my heart when we dance it together again.

This version by Bing is wonderful! Nobody sings like Bing! But, I have to say I prefer Al Jolson's rendition---I can't explain it, but Jolson's voice just seems to reach right into my soul....... This is just a beautiful love song. ❤

I have to agree. There are some great singers who sing it but Jolson steals it for me too. Maybe it's the quirky quality of his voice but it grabs your heart.

Yes, I agree. I'm not mad about Al Jolson's voice, but he sings it like he means it, like he's actually singing it to the woman he loves. I find this rendition impersonal.

Not a bad rendition, but have to say Jolson sung it better in my opinion. Maybe it's because I love the movie with Larry Parkes and the scene with this song in was a big turning point in the Jolson Story, and the first time he'd sung for so long that it holds a place in my heart ❤.. just maybe that!!

Agreed. The Jolson version has that power to make one look inside/think/reminisce.

The music was written by Ion Ivanovici (Jovan Ivanović) in 1880. Originally this waltz was called Waves of the Danube. Mr. Ivanovici was Romanian.
