Little Boston Pizza closed last November couple days after Thanksgiving. I was bummed about that. Kmart was located on Wheaton Way near the old Merit Mart/Value Giant.
0:44 on the left used to be a JCPenney's. I remember as a little kid in the 70's we'd park up on top of the store, and I remember looking over the edge and it feeling so high up. It's literally just one story up. But to a 5 year-old me it was a skyscraper. :-D
I have read that before the construction of all the stores in Silverdale Bremerton was the place to shop, must have been so different compared to what it is now.
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing Yes. Things pretty much moved out in the late 80's. Downtown Bremerton had it all, and Silverdale was basically the feed store (which is still there) and one of those restaurants where they brought the food to your car and hung the tray on your window (a XXX Root Beer or something like that). I've lived overseas for over 20 years now, and lived in California before that, but Port Orchard, Silverdale, and Bremerton will always be home and have a special place in my heart. I miss it so much, but I miss what it once was, not what it has become. Thanks so much for the walk down Memory Lane. :-)
I was born in Bremerton WA in 1958 and I remember herfies hefty burgers and they were so good and they had a great BBQ sauce and I remember taco time too and the local hangout at Esers grocery store and then we'd buy sodas and bubble gum
kmart used to be there in east bremerton long ago i used to live in gorst back in 1990 that is a small town between port orchard and bremerton oh bremerton has grown ever so much
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing oh yes i remembered several of the bigger known businesses did that and then moved back later on some expanded in both areas but thanks to all that has happened in the past few years some of them probably closed up and hope they comeback one day soon when times are much much better
Holy crap @7:57!! The Golden Star is still there?! My mom and I use to go there when I was a kid back in the 80s.
I grew up in Bremerton. Lived between 6th and 7th on Hewitt Ave, and went to Naval Avenue Elementary. This takes me back a long ways.
It has changed a lot, I wish the downtown area was still a vibrant shopping / entertainment area, that would be cool.
That golden star has been there forever
It is to bad downtown Bremerton is not like it used to be.
Illahee is great!
A hidden gem for sure, you are lucky to have it!
@@AmericanOutbackAmazing Its pronounced Ill-Uh-Hee . Just for educational purposes
Awesome! Thanks, I never have a clue with that name.

Always sad to lose a pizza joint.

My mom used to work at that JC Penney’s in the early 80s.
whats the deal with the camera lights?
I despise red light cameras, even places that want them admit they cause more accidents.

Yea, Silverdale shopping hardly existed in the 80's and 90's. I read that a lot of businesses from Bremerton moved there for easy highway access.
