    A quick humorous skit, an interview, and practical tips... Levi, you spoil us. Loved this video! Keep up the awesome work! Also, I'm excited to dive into Campfire Blaze and try things out. 🙌

    Lmao loved the intro. You best believe I’m coming after that 3,000! Any plans on making a video guide to each feature in blaze? I want to use the time line but don’t know where to start if that makes any sense 😂

    I started writing about 7 months ago and I only heard about NaNoWriMo a month ago. I wasn't planning on doing it this year because I'm still trying to get my feet wet. I'm realizing now that NaNoWriMo might be what I need to get fully submerged in writing.
    Aw crap. What am I getting myself into.

      This is "shoot for the moon; even if you miss, you'll land among the stars" stuff. 50K in a month is a lot, but you can totally do it if you plan right. And if you don't hit it, you'll still write a bunch more than you would have! I'm a new writer too, having finished my first novel, I'm ready to dig into the sequel =) Have fun!

    Although it might be a bit counterintuitive, because we are trying to write a capital 'N' Novel, if you want this year to be just about fun make your story a work of fanfiction. Place it in an AU (alternative universe) for some extra creativity. This gives you a pre-made world that can take away the stress of coming up with a fully original world. It may feel like cheating, but if it helps you finish it's only a crutch the first time - especially if this is your first big shot at writing and it leads to original ideas lateter.

    • @AroundTheCampfire
      @AroundTheCampfire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think this sounds counterintuitive at all! This is great practice, and whatever you can do to get yourself writing, is good advice in my book 😁

    I really didn't mean to pants, but here I am. I had an idea but I did not outline it. So I'm thinking about digging out an old story I wrote/obsessed over as a preteen and rewriting it...Gosh, I wish I had a beanie for this. Anyway good luck everyone!

    I usually write between 20,000 and 50,000 words a month - depending on my general plan for the month (am I editing and releasing, too? then it's around 20,000) and on what happens in my life, but then, I write professionally. My aim for a month without editing is usually 50,000, but I'm aware I won't always reach it. I've never done NaNoWriMo, because November is one of my release months and I don't have the time for writing that much while also revising, editing, and releasing a book.
    For actually writing, I have good experience with the pomodoro method - 25 minutes writing (there might be some quick referencing involved, but no extended time browsing the web), 5 minutes break (every fourth round, do 15 minutes instead). There are apps for that and you can set the times as they're better for you (perhaps, you want to rather do 45/10?). I found that 25 minutes keep me more focused, because I know it won't be long until the ring and my short break. Others like having a longer time to focus and then a longer break. Try it out and see if it works and which timespans work for you. I can usually produce a 3,000-word chaper in about four rounds (roundabout two hours). I work in chapters instead of words per day, though, because I find it's easier to start the new workday with a new chapter and not in the middle of one where I might have lost the flow in the meantime. Since a chapter break always means something new, it's much easier to start there than in the middle of a scene.
    I love using Campfire Pro for planning and for keeping my bible on a series (all the notes I have, all characters, etc.). Timelines make it so easy to plot, the character sheets keep everything I need to know, the encyclopedia allows for me to note information from past books that wasn't warranting its own entry (such as important things happening in a story or a list of the non-recurring characters from that story). Every now and then I use the world tab for a map with locations, or the systems and/or the magic tab from the worldbuilding DLC. Today, I'm using the species tab for the first time for a new series setup.

      Wow, you are prolific! The pomodoro technique is so helpful. I don't use it a ton while writing, but I edited all the videos on this channel to the tune of a pomodoro timer. I'll have to try writing with one!

    Hi team. I've been trying to use Campfire Blaze for about a week now and I've come to the realization that I may be using it incorrectly. I tried to use it as a word processor like Gdocs but the area where I put the story fades towards the bottom. That's when I realized the text in that box might be too long so it must be in the wrong place. I tried to watch the tutorials and the various reviews, but I have yet to come across one that says simply: write your story here.
    So my question is: where do I write the story or is it simply plugging in events in the timeline and it will generate the story elsewhere?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks to this video, I now know what a pantser is. I've heard the term in videos before but didn't understand the reference until now. I suppose I'm a pantser. What is the counterpart? I've heard plotter and planner. I wanna make sure I understand the terminology before speaking to other writers. Is there such a thing as a shirtser?

    • @AroundTheCampfire
      @AroundTheCampfire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pantser is some who writes by the seat of their pants! They don't plan at all and just let the story unfold as they write. Plotters/Planners make detailed outlines to their stories before they write, and Plantser is a combination. They plan a little bit but leave room for improvisation.
