there's no need. I'm using footwork and pivoting all the time in roomscale, most fights I have tend to be in spaces 8 x 8 feet or larger. The only benefit of foot trackers would be to animate the avatar clearer but that's a moot point; I can't see below someone's trunks most of the time I'm fighting
Mixed reality makes a huge difference in VR because you unconsciously hold yourself back from fear of knocking into your irl environment when you cant see it.
Putting on the headband in the reflection of the play button plaque was awesome! Then saying "ouch" as the elastic snapped into your forehead was classic Sensei Seth humor. Excellent video, good sir! Happy holidays as well.
Man, this is the kind of VR content I didn’t know I needed. Watching you throw punches at random strangers is hilarious, but also kind of impressive. Makes me want to dust off my VR headset and see if I can even land a punch without falling over!
Dude, I have a whole new level of respect for this. I finally got it and I've lost my first two fights. It's so awesome though. I might only try defense for my third fight to see what I can do about staying calm under pressure.
I bought the Q3 a few days ago and right away played TOTF I’m so dead sore still 3 days later. I mean, I knew I was out of shape, but dang it really puts it into perspective.
Im the short white guy that beat you. I also train IRL, but took me a day to get used to the game. I lost my first 7 matches before i realized what works and what doesnt VS. Real life. If you keep at it you will be very successful on the game, its a great workout too
Things I liked: You used your range effectively. Your counters were right on time. You were in and out quick. Head movement. What I think you could do to improve: Get the angle on your opponent. Step around them, especially when they're tired, they'll be less likely to respond or even notice you're no longer in front of them. More defense. You're stepping in and going to war with these people, you're wearing yourself out. Block, step off the center line, open up the counter. More body shots (I'm guilty of that myself.)
You should definitely invest in some AMVR Boxing gloves, I split 3 of my fingers open hitting a door frame a few months back, the AMVR gloves are perfect for preventing any more blood shed. *Also fighting your friend was hilarious!
I have the first one and was getting into shape playing that and Blades and Sorcery. I was also walking 8-13 miles a night at work and then playing that right after work. Thanks for showing us the game. I'm definitely going to buy it sometime soon.
i caught myself, on several occasions, just instinctively trying to dodge Seth's opponents' punches, even though i wasnt even on fullscreen with the video. Weird (i have no training at all so i dont know where that came from - not like i have muscle memory or anything like that).. Awesome video! This is one of the few games i've seen (and your experience of it) that really actually make me think about getting a vr set.
Great game, and it's such a decent price. Hats off to the Ian and the Devs. Hope they let us train more in the rest of the gym soon as I'd like to work on a punch bag sometimes as that's great for warm ups on it. 😊
I’ve learned that using breathing methods as if you’re actually boxing, helps you not get as winded. It’s a damn fun game for sure, especially after learning to teach yourself that method lol. Holding your breath while punching will wind/tire you out so fast
Only way for this game to be even semi-accurate would be sensors at every joint. You have a wand or something in your hand, but the computer is just "guessing" where your elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, and feet are at any given moment.
@@CalTheDamned Well, when they take my free advice into account and start using it, then it will be better and more realistic, and not until then. As it is right now, it's only tracking head and hand movement and just guestimating where the rest of the body is relative to those two points. Makes it impossible to accurately register defense, for one thing. You'd think that would be a big problem in a boxing game, but apparently most people don't notice because they're just swinging wild the whole time.
There’s motion capture technology already that just needs two cameras in the room but that means extra setup but would be able to capture the full body.
Hey seth I know this is unrelated but I saw the video where you tried to mimic Muhammad Ali's boxing style and I thought it would be really cool if you tried to do it with Mike Tyson, I know you've also done it with a video on canelo too.
I will also point out that you know this game is good because you can see how well the professional fighters punches look in game. Looked absolutely horrifying fighting against him. haha
Quick tip. To use roomscale even when its not available (even if you have plenty of space to move) • Redo your boundary MANUALLY. Draw your boundary a lot further - mine is past my walls! • Restart your quest • Open totf2 and it should work! If not, redo boundary even bigger until roomscale is available • On the totf2 settings set Passthrough ON! Unless you want to punch a wall... Ps: prepare having unique corner placements
I used to have pt 1 of this game and its really fun. Its and honestly good workout if your just wanting to shadow box and build your stamina. I know it might not be one to one as far as real boxing goes but its still a good way of moving your body
i had my arms and my chest totally go numb after 10 matches, i just got the game so i went for a 1:30 session, thats when my arms became limb and i couldnt throw nothing no more, also i feel like the fact that you dont have resistance in the back of the punches is the biggest exhaustion point
@@RayeCuhhe also doesn’t commit to his punches. I really put my whole body in every punch and it does a ton more damage than what hes doing. It also makes me super sore but hey winning is worth it
This game is a blast. My first match I dropped the guy in 10 seconds, then he went on a mad man flurry. Started working me. I'm swinging hard as f. By the end of the first round we are in our corners hunched over out of breath and he gave up before I did. I was going to give up. 1 round! A lot of fun.
I've been playing through a few matches! I recommend trying a more sport karate style! It's actually pretty effective when the other person has a bigger space to accommodate the in and out movement

Hey, Seth, have you tried the fightmersive sparing app? They send you a headset, and you clip your phone on, and it puts your phone in VR mode and boots up sparring footage for you to react too. Obviously, it doesn't replace having a partner to practice with, but if you can't get to the gym multiple times a week it's helpful. It's also has virtual Thai pad workouts.

amazing game, headmovement is super important, so I can see why you struggled in beginning, not moving your head at all lol

Which part of the video are you in I'd like to see that part 😅
I wish they had sensors that velcrod onto your ankles or shoes for games like this. Adding footwork would make me 100% onboard.
Footwork is a huge part of the game, you have to be in room scale mode. You have to manage distance and counters with your irl movement
Ya for kicks
Could go full body on a PC
They do have full body tracking and vrc boxing in VRchat where you can use full body
