- Earth has experienced the end of the world, wiping out almost all humans. Paul and his sons Thomas and Joseph are among the few survivors, holed up in a remote house. It sounds like a bunch of idiots taking unnecessary risks which ultimately led to people dying left and right. I don't like movies that lack common sense. It triggers me.

At the 8:31 mark, the monster isn’t disemboweled in the bathtub. Her mother’s head is visible behind the membrane that covers the opening in the creature’s back. Her face is visible, pressed against the underside of the thin membrane, as she moves her head to her left, either voluntarily or involuntarily is not clear to the daughter.
It can be assumed that the mother was either being slowly digested inside the monster or this was part of a breeding process.
Viewers aren't told what caused the apocalypse. The beginning suggests a societal breakdown. A soldier calmy looks out from a makeshift watchtower while gunfire and screams are heard in the background. It is daytime. In short, it isn't monsters. 15 years later, it is monsters that keep Paul and the boys hustling. But the Rose Farm is rarely visited by them. They don't even shutter the windows. When Charlotte tells the story of the apocalypse in the 10-second apocalypse storytelling game, it is clear that neither she nor anyone else really knows what caused the apocalypse. The only thing that is clear is that the monsters evolve their strategies and work together, which the humans are not prepared for.
I also love in these movies how everything seems to be going somewhat OK. Their surviving! But it always takes that one emotional dummy to ruin everything! Someone that wants to do something that jeopardizes everyone else. The boy needed to collect supplies, but he wanted to see the girl “I totally get at that age thinking solely w/your other head” only to get hurt, cause your father to get hurt and ultimately die, cause other people to die but hey doing what you want going against what saved you up until this point unless you could spend more time with a girl!
It’s clear he’s a liability, selfish, Causing others danger, if not to risk their life for him, but he most definitely wouldn’t do the same! In an apocalypse people like that would be handled totally different! Eliminating one person to save others! But they have a whole bunch of people risk their life to save that person jeopardizing the safety of a bunch of people is logical whatsoever! especially if the person doesn’t contribute, as a constant liability and a danger to everyone else!

I mean, I kind of see where the monsters are coming from sheep isn’t bad if you have a A1 sauce, but it’s opposed to apocalyptic world they live in. People just naturally taste better and you don’t need sauce. After all indulges in cannibalism and uses ketchup, that’s just insane!

Another neat Nicholas cave movie with standard flaming house, things with long limbs, things attacking each other, a hurt person taking the lead, and symbolism of being let loose from your parents.

Great movie. The worst thing about it is the slow tension moments that feel like God damn slow mo and should almost always have ended with a different common sense option.
