    Great information! Maybe I missed it, but I'd say the only things missing from this is the REASONING why you'd want these settings:
    1.) Proper scaling inside youtube on various screen sizes across all apps, platforms, and devices.
    2.) Better looking footage when in 4k simply because TH-cam gave up on prioritizing 1080 compression.
    3.) More of the bitrate is dedicated to the actual footage instead of wasted on black bars.
    I would say, the process (unless I'm missing something - possible!) for converting to 4k is a little more cumbersome than need be. I'd suggest once you have your final edit, do the following:
    1.) Find the new aspect ratio pixel count for 1920x??? sizing.
    2.) Duplicate the current 1080 sequence, and in sequence settings, enter in the new 1920x??? based information found in Step 1. (This keeps original 16x9 ratio safe and separate and is non-destructive).
    3.) In your new sequence, shift clips up or down without needing to fiddle with guides.
    4.) Export and change width parameter to 3840 with ratio lock ON. This changes size for you automatically and then simply change bitrate. This negates the need to bounce to source and crop.
    But my main reason to comment is to say well done! Love your presentation and chill nature. This is a good topic to tackle, not a lot of CLEAR information for people as to WHY to do it. I've only had one client REQUIRE the aspect ratio maintain 16x9 WITH black bars. And thats why those videos don't look great on a phone ( centered small with black matte on top, bottom, and both sides.).
    KEEP AT IT FRIEND!

    Great video. I’ve been up scaling to 4K because I heard the algorithm prioritizes those vids. Not sure if there’s truth to that. I’ll have to try this process as I’ve used the drop down in Premiere for TH-cam 4K, assuming that hurts my footage?

      In my experience it’s all about the bitrate! I’ve used the presets and followed TH-cam’s recommendations. I uploaded a video with some drone footage and all the trees were pixelating super bad. I rendered it again with a bitrate at 100mpbs and it was perfect. So Since that I’ve always done it like this and enjoyed the results. It’s even more noticeable offline. The footage is gorgeous!

      Jamie Fenn does awesome Davinci Resolve tutorials. Here you can check out (animated) black bar tutorial from him:

      @@LauriMajamaa cool bro! I see this is more for animating the effect where I want the whole thing on the video. I found this one and I think that's what I was after!
      I'm yet to try it but looks promising

    I'm not sure if this means that I am doing something wrong, but I normally change my sequence settings to match the different aspect ratios and then match it/upscale/downscale for the export. Is this a bad way to do it? Someone feel free to let me know if this is totally wrong!

    • @krisantoinette871
      @krisantoinette871  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I kind of touched on it briefly in the description. There’s a ton of different ways to export. I like to keep the native resolution throughout the project and then render out all the required formats and sizes from that main sequence. I like to be able to see the whole clip when reframing. If you’re sure you’re going to be delivering in just that one aspect ratio there nothing wrong with the way you described
