Hi Joel: I have learned so much from you by watching every single one of your videos about Photos Version 5 on MacOS Catalina. Thanks for your good work! I am hoping you will continue and cover Photos Version 6 as it now part of MacOS Big Sur. I have of course liked and subscribed.
Wow, thanks so much for watching! Yes, I'm starting to focus on more Photo related items and after I finish a couple talking about the Camera on the iPhones, i'll be doing some with Photos on Big Sur! I just upgraded last night and seeing how it is! Thanks for the support!
So happy I was able to help and clarify the concept! iCloud is a big topic and there's so much more too! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!
I truly appreciate you for taking the time to make this video for someone like myself new to IPHONE, IPAD. Because I have been having a problem with when I do something on my IPAD or IPHONE I have to go on the other and RETYPE EVERYTHING all over and that’s very frustrating
I hear ya @KhadizahBrown-v7k! That can be very frustrating. This is where you need to make sure both devices are using the same Apple Account and are syncing the information that is needed. Hi Joel, I have to use Microsoft 365 for Word, Notes & Excell. How do I get my Mac iPad & iPhone to send that to the cloud. They don't show up in Apple ID list of apps of course. Thanks for the clear explanation of Sync. Regards, Jim
Hi @sut19! So Microsoft 365 would be a direct competitor to Apple iCloud. It has its own set of tool and applications and its own cloud storage. For example, the tools below would be the equivalent of each other: Apple iCloud = Microsoft 365 iCloud Drive = Microsoft OneDrive Pages = Microsoft Word Numbers = Microsoft Excel Keynote = Microsoft Powerpoint So really on all of your devices; Mac/iPhone/iPad, you would want to download and install the respective Microsoft apps and connect them to your account and then all of those files would sync within Microsoft not iCloud. Does that make sense? I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support Jim!
Hi @Marlene Janzen! I currently do not, but I should add that to my list! I can tell you though it will be similar to all of the other options. It will sync your iBook purchases among all of your devices as long "Books" option toggled on within the Settings of your devices. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! loving your videos. Never understood iCloud. Thanks for educating me. I want to keep my pages, numbers, and keynote only on my Mac - not my iPhone or my iPad. I don't need them to be saved in iCloud. Help please. Thanks.
Thanks for another helpful vid Joel. I use an apple MacBook Pro for work & use office 365. Can i add this or at least the Outlook function to my icloud? Thanks
Hey @Pinterest Express! When you say add outlook function to iCloud, what do you mean by that? Outlook is an email Management software that can accept a variety of email accounts to be used within. I was wondering if you could help me figure out why my IPhone & IPAD text messages don’t sync & when I send a text message form my iPad some of them goes through and some don’t 😮 what could I be doing wrong or what do I need to do THANK YOU so much for your help and time
Hi @KhadizahBrown-v7k, First make sure that you're using the same Apple Account on both the iPhone and iPad and that you have iMessages turned on for both. The other thing to check is that you have Text Message Forwarding turned on. This is located in the settings of your iPhone. Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding Here you should see options for any other devices you have that are signed in with your same Apple Account. I hope that helps! If you have multiple macs and you put the documents folders from both into icloud, will 2 different folders show up on each computer through icloud, or will all of the documents be placed into one icloud documents folder?
Hi @Allen Schneider! Great question! As long as it's the same account, they should merge together and become one! So you would only have one Desktop folder and one Documents folder syncing between the two. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!

Hi Joel, You are so right about iCloud being confusing! I like local storage and want to avoid a lot of internet traffic. My question is: In iCloud settings, is it device specific in all cases? For instance if I set my mac to download original photos and use just a few of the cloud options, can I set iCloud options on iPhone with minimal storage to "optimize" and be assured the settings won't change on my other devices? The information you give on messages is enlightening. I don't know how but I lost all messages from one contact when I accidentally deleted them from my iPhone (all messages were iPhone to iPhone - phone numbers only not iCloud email address) I was told by apple tech support that they were gone. So on iCloud the folders, like "messages" are not in anyway a back up. Does I cloud back up back up messages? and to get them back I would have to restore the entire phone? Still confused any clarity you can give would be appreciated. I think I remember the tech telling me that iCloud backup doesn't back up messages... maybe the thing about iMessage and messages needs some sorting in my brain! Find my question: what does lost mode do? Does it erase everything or do they have different nuances that are important to be aware of?
Thanks Joel for your focus on working with iCloud. I've recently started focusing on this issue as well. Before retiring I spent many years in the computer industry as a programmer so one question that rattles around in my thinking about this is "Where is the data?" ( i.e., the master file) Is it in the cloud and a copy on a persons device? And another question is "If you loose access to the internet (like in a catastrophic event) have you lost your data?" Thanks
Hello, good information i do have a question .. luckly enough this hasnt happened to me but i do wonder what if... say i am not at home where my mac computer is and i am in another city and lose my phone, ok so i will go to library to use a pc to log into my icloud to try and find my phone that i have lost. The pc at the location where i am will not let me logon unless i type in that verification code that. Is being send to my phone or mac at home. ?? How do i go about with that how do i log into my icloud in a senario like that ? Thank you Mak
That is such a fantastic question @mak kie! I recommend you try this just for fun to see how it works, but in that scenario if you did not have any of your Apple Devices and you needed to use a public computer to access iCloud, when you log in, it gives you three choices to use when you do not have the 2-Factor Authentication code. 1. Find iPhone ( this is useful) 2. Apple Pay (this just brings you to the settings, I haven't figured out the use/purpose) 3. Apple Watch Settings (this just brings you to the settings, I haven't figured out the use/purpose) So long story short, you can still log into iCloud website, but without verifying yourself with the 2-Factor, you'll have locks on all the other options except Find My, which you'll be able to locate a missing device. I hope that helps! Thank you for the continued support! I’m glad this video was helpful! Joel, Love your videos. I'm a bit confused about deleting photos. I have all my settings correct on iPhone and iMac. I wanted to get rid of unwanted photos on my devices. I deleted them using my iMac... but they are still showing up on my iPhone. Will they not delete from my iPhone until they have passed the 30-40 days final deletion (or until I go into iCloud photos and permanently delete now? Everything syncs other than the deletion, so I am confused. Thanks!
Hi @Linda Supron! Sounds like you're doing it all correctly. If you delete a photo from any location/device like iPhone/iPad/Mac or iCloud.com it should reflect that change relatively quickly, for sure not 30-40 days, as that's the timeframe to recover a photo from it being deleted in iCloud.com A few things to look at...sometimes the devices get's "paused". In the photos app on any device, if you scroll to the bottom of the library tab, it will sometimes say "resume" or "paused". I've seen this happen if too many items are deleted or synced a time or if you have "Low Power Mode" turned on within one of your devices. Curious if you're still having the issue! Sorry for the late response! Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate your support!
i have a question: if i have both iphone and ipad using one cloud account, and i don't want all aplication to be synched on both devices, but i also want all of them to be saved in icloud memory in order not to loose any of the data...what should i do?
Hi @Hydra! So if you're downloading an App on the iPhone and it automatically shows up on the iPad, thats because there's a setting that controls this within the device. So for example if the App shows up on the iPad after you've downloaded on the iPhone and you don't want it to do it every time, on the iPad go to Settings > App Store > and turn off "Apps" under the automatic downloads section. This will stop that from happening. Any purchases in the App store (free or not free) are always saved to your account so you'll never lose any purchases, however the content within apps can be a different story. Some apps have the ability to save information to iCloud so it can be used to sync to multiple devices and also as a backup purpose. If this is the case, it would be located in Settings > Apple ID > iCloud and then scroll to the bottom and usually you'll see a list of apps that can integrate progress stored in iCloud. This is where if this app setting was turned on and you deleted the app, if you reinstalled it, it should still have the progress/info saved. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! If you haven’t already, please support me by subscribing! It helps more than you know and is greatly appreciated! If you know someone who may benefit from this video, feel free to share it along!
Hi @Jenny Weigle! So be careful with this...iCloud does not back up anything when it comes to the Mac! It allows you to synchronize content wirelessly and automatically from your Mac, iPhone, and iPad, but it does not back it up! Photos will sync with iCloud Photos, contacts, calendars, safari bookmarks and such sync with your iCloud account, but if any of it gets deleted, it's not technically backed up! Also if you use iCloud Drive, it will sync your Desktop and Documents folders from your Mac to iCloud, but it's all really just a syncing service. It's designed to have easy access to your content without you having to manually plug devices into each other. Hope that helps clarify! Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support!
Hi @Kevin Bachus! For the most part, no. In order to sync content such as Contacts, Photos, Calendars, Text messages, from let's say a Mac, iPhone and iPad, you need to be signed in with the same Apple ID/iCloud Account. Now there are some exceptions like being able to do shared Notes, shared Calendars and shared Photo Streams, but the way it's truly supposed to work is that you have one account that is signed into all devices and that's how all the devices know how to communicate with one another and stay on the same page. I hope that makes sense. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! It helps more than you know and is greatly appreciated! If you know someone who may benefit from this video, feel free to share it along!
@@Learnwithjoel Thank you Joel. You are absolutely spot on....when I changed so that all devices had the same account, it worked like a charm...I am not untracked and loving the connectivity. You saved me a huge amount of time and frustration!!! Definitely glad i subscribed!!!!
I have an iPhone Pro 15 and iPad that have one Apple ID and I have a MacBook Air that for some reason or another I have a different Apple ID. I believe that I am also paying for additional storage (not a lot but). I would like to have on ID and be able to sync. If if I go the direction of the iPhone and iPad because of two devices will I loose all the stuff I have on the MacBook Air?
Hey @Bryan Ferrer! For sure using iCloud on Apple devices gives you so many more options to sync vs other email providers. I've actually debated to do a video on this exact topic, but it's been on the bottom of the list, however I think in two of my videos related to contacts, I do talk a little about different accounts and what they sync. Whether it's iCloud, Google, Microsoft, yahoo or others, iCloud for sure has so many more options to sync for vs other accounts. Now all the options of what to sync may not be relevant , but there are for sure differences. I think these two videos show an example of multiple accounts: Guide to IMPORTING and EXPORTING CONTACTS on your Mac to Apple iCloud, Google GMAIL, and MUCH MORE! th-cam.com/video/S_H6TYVyd5M/w-d-xo.html Syncing and creating iCLOUD CONTACTS - Understanding WHERE ARE MY CONTACTS?! th-cam.com/video/4KadQFP2J-A/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps! Thanks for watching @Sarah Dang! You can reset an iCloud password from a variety of ways: I find it easiest to reset from a computer....visit: iforgot.apple.com On a mobile device like iPhone or iPad, you can go into the Settings > iCloud > Password & Security > Change Password. However it may sometimes ask you for a code or password to do this! Usually when you try too many times it will have a little "?" to press and then reset from that device. Hope that helps you a little! Thanks so much for the support!
Great question @ph f! Whenever you use any cloud service what happens is that you're able to continue to use the device as normal and expected. It just means it's not going to upload content to iCloud (or other cloud) when you have no internet. Then when you get back from a location where you do have internet, it will upload and be up to date. So for example, let's say you have an iPhone and you're gone for week camping or on your boat where there is absolutely no service or internet. When you take pictures or videos, all of that content will be on your iPhone, but in that moment, that's the only location it resides. When you get back to a location that has service or internet, it just picks up where it left off and starts to upload, sync and backup to iCloud. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! Hi @O Koloa! There are some options that you can sync from iCloud to a Windows computer, but don't get your hopes up. I'll leave a link below to Apple's website for reference of syncing iCloud to a Windows PC. As far as the keychains, no, not that i'm aware of. My only workaround which really isn't a workaround is to use Google Chrome and sync passwords and information that way so I have access on a windows device. Other than that, the keychains is specific to Apple environment. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201391 Hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support!
My Photos library has become very large, and I've made a couple passes through my videos over the years, especially, to delete ones that I don't have any need to save, and this has helped somewhat, but I was curious about how the library was still so large and very carefully took a glimpse into the package contents of the library, where I found some items that surprised me. I know I don't need to understand the structure, and I wouldn't mess with it directly, and I do get the gist of the originals being distinct from the edits and that's all pretty much as I expected, but when I sorted by file size and explored some of the really giant items in there, I noticed some videos that I had actually deleted long ago. I hadn't just cropped them down or edited them; I had actually sent them to trash and they had fallen out of the "recently deleted photos" long ago, and yet there are still some odd exceptions lingering within the files of the Photos Library package contents! Most items that were deleted don't still show up, but it's just these exceptions that made me wonder if some errors in the way things are syncing might've caused the app to fail to delete them? If so, would it be safe to delete these items directly from the Photos Library contents? I'm guessing that it won't be a problem, although I'm a little worried about whether this might throw off the indexing or some other organizational process that I don't understand. I'm also hesitant to use this as a solution, because I figure that if I just happened to notice these handful of odd exceptions, then wouldn't it seem reasonable to expect that there are many more exceptions among the 14,000 photos I've taken? So I'd prefer to somehow reset the whole thing! I guess that's what I'm getting at: is there a way to refresh or reset or rebuild the index (or catalog, or whatever you call it) in such a way that you won't risk losing anything you've worked on? For instance, I'd still want the "originals" to be available, so I'd rather not just create a new library based on the edited images, and I'd hate it if I lost all the albums and face recognition data (where's that stored, btw?) and metadata. And if my photos library is still too large, would you recommend moving it to an external hard drive? does the system photos library (the one that syncs with iCloud) need to reside within the user folder? or is it okay to have it on an external drive?
Hi @Becky Herman! So yes and no...it all depends on what software you're using. Often calendars get "synced" to multiple devices by having your email account on all devices, such as iCloud, Gmail, etc. On your HP computer, you would need to add your iCloud email account to Outlook, or the calendar program, or some other program so that all devices are on the same page. What software are you using on your Windows HP computer? I would suggest to try the iCloud software from Apple. I'll leave a link below to their help article that provides the step by step instructions. This would give you the ability to sync some content on your windows HP such as your calendars. Hi @AAllison, As long as you're signed into the System Settings with the same Apple ID, it will sync the available options within iCloud to both Macs. As far as files are considered, iCloud only syncs the Desktop and Documents folder in addition to anything that is in iCloud Drive. So if you had files in your downloads, or Movies folder, that would not sync. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! Hi Joel, great intro. Could you make a video about how to sync Safari. It used to work for me, so I had the same bookmarks across my devices. After changing my AppleID password, iCloud no longer sync's correctly. Tried to log out, in of Apple ID. Tried to set safari off then on in iCloud. Nothing seem to be able to re-start syncing of Safari.
Hi @S V! Great question! So I do plan to make future videos that focus on each individual component of iCloud and the options that sync. As far as your question goes, how many and which devices do you have? You're definitely troubleshooting correctly to toggle off and on and sign in and sign out. Are there any devices that do sync with each other?
@@Learnwithjoel Hi Joel, I got one iPhone, a MacBook and an iMac. Seems like the iPhone is sync'en an old version of the bookmarks from the Macbook. I have to say I am not running the latest versions on either iPhone og Mac OS.
Ah, that could be your ticket to success! It's a double edged sword though...as updates are always designed to fix and improve things, they can also break things. I've seen countless times where just by getting on the latest version of the software fixes something such as this!
Great question @Geri Ewald! My guess is that you may have two or more email accounts that are syncing contacts on your devices. Hello Joel, what about Itunes, will be synchronized from the old man to a new one CATALINA music app by the cloud? And the videos? All my photos are back in my new mac, the desktop and documents also .... mac magic ! (-:
Well for Music, the iCloud subscription doesn't really handle Music as it syncs either through iTunes Store, iTunes Match, or Apple Music Subscription. You do have the ability to sync music between all of your devices, but each option is slightly different. Option One - iTunes Store: This option is pretty much if you buy something in the iTunes store, whether it's Music, videos, tv shows, you'll have the ability to access all of this content on any of your Apple Devices. Option Two - iTunes Match: This is a subscription service that is $25 per year. This gives the ability to take an existing iTunes Library of Music and sync it into the Cloud and then it automatically shows up on all of your devices. This is ideal for someone who has over the years invested in many many old CD's and has gone through the manual process of importing them into the computer. More info can be found here: support.apple.com/en-us/HT204146 Option Three - Apple Music Subscription: This starts at $9.99 per month for most individual accounts and gives you access to all the music Apple has to offer. Very similar to Spotify, Pandora or other major music streaming services. Easy link here: www.apple.com/apple-music/ I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!

Hi Joel, How do I delete a photo off my phone and ensure that it is still in my cloud? Once I tried to delete the photo off my iPhone, it warms me the photo will be deleted from all my devices and my iCloud. When I check my cloud, it is actually gone. I need to free some space from my phone, as I have no storage left, but the photos I delete are deleting off everything. I would like to send the photos to my cloud and delete them off my phone. Thank you so much!
Hi @André-Michel McCauley! So you're doing everything correctly. That's how iCloud Photos is supposed to work. It's designed to keep all of your devices on the same page and synced together, so therefore if you delete an item from one device, it will delete it across the board. If local space is an issue, have you changed your settings for photos to use the "optimize iPhone Storage"? I have a video that explains this that may be helpful! th-cam.com/video/bGmN-C-6W7A/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps and thanks for watching! I appreciate the support!
Hi @Creating A New Life! So it depends....in the iCloud settings for each device, you have the ability to choose what information you want to sync to that particular device. If all settings are on within all devices, when you delete a note or message from one device, it will delete it from all the others. So if you don't want it to do this, you need to turn off what you don't want to sync on the respective device. Does that make sense? Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and the continued support!
Hi @Marshall Lim! Even though you don't have a Mac, you can still download and sync certain content with iCloud from your iPhone and iPad to your Windows PC. Hi, when I sync photos from iphone to Mac by using iCloud, how come those photos and videos ended up in download folders instead of going to photo application? Please help?! Thank you in advance!!🤯
Hi @RealtorSiri! So my main question would be how are you syncing the photos? Do you have iCloud Photos turned on within your iCloud settings on all devices? Hi can u please help me i want an app named vita it is a video editor i upgraded my iCloud storage and so now i want that the app should use my iCloud space because my phone storage is full but it isn’t showing up in the iCloud settings please help !!!😭😭😭 so how can i show it please replyyyyy
Hey @k o o k i e d u s t! So it usually comes down to the App and the developers who make the app to allow integration with cloud services like iCloud, Google, Dropbox or Microsoft...If there's no options or preferences in the Vita Editor app, you may not be able to. I have used quite a few apps for videos editing on mobile devices, and as some do integrate with cloud storage, the video clips still need to be local. Hope that answers! Thanks for watching!
So what happens if you choose to unsync the notes on iPad let’s say and then you continue editing the note you used as an example on your Mac the one way and then edit the note you left unsynced on your iPad in another way, and then you re-enable syncing on the iPad?
Well if you turn off notes on a mobile device it will actually prompt you that you're doing it and it will say "Are you sure you delete notes" and if you do, they'll be removed and then any notes created, it will be stored locally, and then you would have to copy them manually to iCloud notes if you turn it back on. On the Mac if I turn off notes, they just all disappear and i'm only left with notes locally on my Mac. It's really easy to move notes around and if one gets created when it's not syncing you can drag it into the location of the iCloud Notes. I think you've inspired me to create a Just Notes video! Thanks so much for watching! I hope this helps and I appreciate the support!
icloud drive is turned on on my mac. All data are on icloud website. Im planning to erase the mac while icloud drive is turned on in settings. Will all those data in icloud drive website stay there with this kind of setup?
Thanks for the reminder! I know for this one, I create specific emails that aren't really my personal ones that I don't use, and my phone number and such is already public on my photo website. But I for sure try to keep a little bit hidden :-) Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the support!
Question please: when I create smart album on Camera Model my camera's brand (Sony) does not appear as an option how to register my Sony Camera on my Photo app? I did exactly what some friends advised like doing: Window's info shows for example SONY ILCE-6000 but when I try to create a smart album for all the photos taken with Sony 6000, for example, it shows that there are no option for Sony at all ( actually, it shows 4 camera models three of them that I owned 20 years ago and the fourth is never owned or had any photo taken by it while all the photos taken by Sony shown in different categories but not counted or shown the camera model in the box that suppose to show camera models?)and it shows that there are (0) number of Sony photos while in fact there are thousands of them. By the way, all on MacBook Pro 2020.Very confusing do you have any answer please?
Hi @Riad! I have to say I haven't seen that before, but I also personally don't use Sony. The first suggestion off the top of my head is to see if another App on the Mac sees that EXIF information. Copy one of the Sony photos to the desktop and open up with the Preview App. Within there get the "info" on the picture and see if it has the information. I have a video referencing this that I will link below. Have you tried just typing in 6000 or just Sony in the search? th-cam.com/video/2wJXbDmlMtU/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support!
@@Learnwithjoel Of course I tried typing Sony and Sony 6000 and Sony 6400 but no use still does not give me the option of creating smart album with camera model of any kind of Sony or any other camera other than the 4 Canon and Fuji that I mentioned in previous question, although there more than 3000 photos take by Sony! I tried to find a way perhaps to register the camera, even I tried officially to download photos from Sony directly from the camera it did not see the camera in spite of the fact it sees any SD card not when connected to the Sony camera, strange? Thank you very much!

Hi Joel,
I have to use Microsoft 365 for Word, Notes & Excell.
For example, the tools below would be the equivalent of each other:
Apple iCloud = Microsoft 365
iCloud Drive = Microsoft OneDrive
Pages = Microsoft Word
Numbers = Microsoft Excel
Keynote = Microsoft Powerpoint
So really on all of your devices; Mac/iPhone/iPad, you would want to download and install the respective Microsoft apps and connect them to your account and then all of those files would sync within Microsoft not iCloud.
Does that make sense?
I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support Jim!
Do you have a video on how to sync iBooks between an iPad and iPhone without a computer?
Hi @Marlene Janzen! I currently do not, but I should add that to my list!
I can tell you though it will be similar to all of the other options. It will sync your iBook purchases among all of your devices as long "Books" option toggled on within the Settings of your devices.

Hi @KhadizahBrown-v7k,
First make sure that you're using the same Apple Account on both the iPhone and iPad and that you have iMessages turned on for both.
The other thing to check is that you have Text Message Forwarding turned on. This is located in the settings of your iPhone.
Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding
Here you should see options for any other devices you have that are signed in with your same Apple Account.
I hope that helps! Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. It is greatly appreciated!

Before retiring I spent many years in the computer industry as a programmer so one question that rattles around in my thinking about this is "Where is the data?" ( i.e., the master file)
Is it in the cloud and a copy on a persons device? And another question is "If you loose access to the internet (like in a catastrophic event) have you lost your data?"
Thanks
Thank you! very helpful.

Hi and thanks. Now I need to find out how photos sync and then how to reduce storage levels to save monthly payments .
1. Find iPhone ( this is useful)
2. Apple Pay (this just brings you to the settings, I haven't figured out the use/purpose)
3. Apple Watch Settings (this just brings you to the settings, I haven't figured out the use/purpose)
So long story short, you can still log into iCloud website, but without verifying yourself with the 2-Factor, you'll have locks on all the other options except Find My, which you'll be able to locate a missing device.

Joel,
Love your videos.
If you delete a photo from any location/device like iPhone/iPad/Mac or iCloud.com it should reflect that change relatively quickly, for sure not 30-40 days, as that's the timeframe to recover a photo from it being deleted in iCloud.com
A few things to look at...sometimes the devices get's "paused".
Thank you so much again👏

Nice video of the day.
i have a question: if i have both iphone and ipad using one cloud account, and i don't want all aplication to be synched on both devices, but i also want all of them to be saved in icloud memory in order not to loose any of the data...what should i do?

Hi Joel! Does my iCloud account back up EVERYTHING on my Mac? or just items in a specific directory/folder?
Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate the support!
will syncing work across different devices function if the devices have different apple IDs?

Isnt iCloud a service which the Apple ID is used to log onto?
Yes it is
I have an iPhone Pro 15 and iPad that have one Apple ID and I have a MacBook Air that for some reason or another I have a different Apple ID. I believe that I am also paying for additional storage (not a lot but). I would like to have on ID and be able to sync. If if I go the direction of the iPhone and iPad because of two devices will I loose all the stuff I have on the MacBook Air?
Is there a difference using @icloud versus other email accounts in terms of overall syncing?
Hey @Bryan Ferrer!
For sure using iCloud on Apple devices gives you so many more options to sync vs other email providers. I've actually debated to do a video on this exact topic, but it's been on the bottom of the list, however I think in two of my videos related to contacts, I do talk a little about different accounts and what they sync.
Whether it's iCloud, Google, Microsoft, yahoo or others, iCloud for sure has so many more options to sync for vs other accounts. Now all the options of what to sync may not be relevant , but there are for sure differences.
I think these two videos show an example of multiple accounts:

Very helpful! How to retrieve the iCloud password if I forgot it?
Thanks for watching @Sarah Dang!
You can reset an iCloud password from a variety of ways:
I find it easiest to reset from a computer....visit: iforgot.apple.com
On a mobile device like iPhone or iPad, you can go into the Settings > iCloud > Password & Security > Change Password. However it may sometimes ask you for a code or password to do this! Usually when you try too many times it will have a little "?" to press and then reset from that device.
Hope that helps you a little! Thanks so much for the support!
So, what to do if you are without an internet connection for up to a week or so?

I have Apple Phone and iPad but HP computer. Does this mean I can't sync calendars on all three devices?

How to sync two MacBooks with one Apple ID please?
Hi @AAllison,
As long as you're signed into the System Settings with the same Apple ID, it will sync the available options within iCloud to both Macs.
As far as files are considered, iCloud only syncs the Desktop and Documents folder in addition to anything that is in iCloud Drive. So if you had files in your downloads, or Movies folder, that would not sync.
I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching!

Mr.Joe so iCloud email is same as Apple ID? But my iCloud is full and phone storage is also full. How can I fix this issue?
I followed the whole video. But my iPhone has 157 contacts and my iPad has 127. What do I still have to do? Thanks
Great question @Geri Ewald!
My guess is that you may have two or more email accounts that are syncing contacts on your devices. I have another video that talks about contacts that should be helpful in figuring out you accounts and looking at your contacts. I'll link down below for reference. If that doesn't help, let me know!

More info can be found here: support.apple.com/en-us/HT204146
Option Three - Apple Music Subscription: This starts at $9.99 per month for most individual accounts and gives you access to all the music Apple has to offer. Very similar to Spotify, Pandora or other major music streaming services. Easy link here: www.apple.com/apple-music/
I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support!

Hi Joe, I followed up all your steps carefully but my new iPhone doesn’t synchronize with my old iPhone and ipad. What do I do?
Hi @Mr Maaical!
What information/content isn't syncing? Do you pay for iCloud Storage? If your device is taking up more space then what you have available in iCloud for space, it will stop syncing.

That's perfectly normal to have a different email address like Gmail to be used as an Apple ID/iCloud account...
What information are you trying to sync and what isn't working?

Hi Joel,
How do I delete a photo off my phone and ensure that it is still in my cloud?

If its deleted the msg or notes one device whats its happened, its deleted both or one only? Thank you.
I use an iPhone and iPad along with a Windows PC (I don’t have a Mac computer). Am I still able to sync iCloud across my 3 devices?
Hi @Marshall Lim!
Even though you don't have a Mac, you can still download and sync certain content with iCloud from your iPhone and iPad to your Windows PC.
Below is a support article that will take you to Apple's website. Here they will show the setup process of where/how to download iCloud for Windows.

Over the years i've seen lots of issues with installing the iCloud on windows with various errors and such...So i've included another support article directly below this that may help also.

Are these folders being created in iCloud Drive?
Are you using the native Photos app on your iPhone and also Apple Photos on your Mac?
Look forward to hearing from you! Sorry about the delayed response!
Thanks for watching!
thank youuu
You're very welcome @Aren Gutierrez! Thanks for watching and the support!

Your videos are helpful. Just 2 cents, don’t show any of your personal information in your video such as email or phone numbers etc. :)
Thanks for the reminder! I know for this one, I create specific emails that aren't really my personal ones that I don't use, and my phone number and such is already public on my photo website. But I for sure try to keep a little bit hidden :-)

@@Learnwithjoel Of course I tried typing Sony and Sony 6000 and Sony 6400 but no use still does not give me the option of creating smart album with camera model of any kind of Sony or any other camera other than the 4 Canon and Fuji that I mentioned in previous question, although there more than 3000 photos take by Sony! I tried to find a way perhaps to register the camera, even I tried officially to download photos from Sony directly from the camera it did not see the camera in spite of the fact it sees any SD card not when connected to the Sony camera, strange? Thank you very much!
Yeah I figured you tried but had to ask. That is very odd. I did Google the issue and found an article from 2016 with other users having same issue, but with Panasonic. I would try reaching out to Apple Support
downloaded Big Sur and my contacts duplicated. Can I sync my yahoo & icloud contacts?

Probably because big tech is money hungry @fairwayfone703!
Apple needs to compete with the likes of Spotify and others, so Apple Music is all subscription based. It's not a part of iCloud.
