    I love my Leatherman Wave. It's my edc and I can't seem to find an alternative multitool that keeps up with the Wave.

    I just received mine . The wave plus. I need to return it already. The left side does not have the bottle opener and larger bit driver. Both sides have scissors, flatheads and small bit driver. Not happy. Gerber it is.

    Im an Agronomic Engineering Student from Colombia(Yeah, in south america). Which would be better for my ground agricultural work, the Leatherman Surge, or the Leatherman Wave+ ??

    • @Fangtian0303
      @Fangtian0303 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The surge is for heavy industrial usage. Wave is lighter duty, but with better weight/usage ratio.

    bought the wave + 2h model (two hand opening, german laws) twice, both had sharp edges everywhere, stiff or wobbly blades, pliers, handles. they had both the quality control sticker on the package, i would not put my name on these particular shoddy products. My old wave is nearly perfect, my swisstool x from 98 and 2022 both are:)

  • @macgyverbryan1377
    @macgyverbryan1377 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought a Wave+ made 01-19 it's a great upgrade. it had sharp blade hole edges also. It's a minor QC issue, having another Wave the diamond file smoothed that and inside edges. Not a deal breaker for for getting a Leatherman, if it is an issue, take it back and exchange it another or contact Leatherman and address it.

  • @stevo1166

    Like the look of new sheath, looks a lot less bulky than last nylon model, is it as snug a fit as it looks? Would prob work well with rebar also.

  • @craigmosolowski4663
    @craigmosolowski4663 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Leatherman has two kinds of pliers rests inside their Waves. The purpose of these rests is so that the pliers seat smoothly and do not catch on the inside tools. One kind is a flat metal leaf that is angled up for the pliers to rest on when the tool is closed. The other type is a solid square piece of metal that angles up to meet the pliers. The flat leaf type is more delicate and can rarely but sometimes wear out once the Wave loosens up with alot of use. It doesn't really matter because Leatherman has a fabulous warranty. However I can see by freezing this great quality video that Leatherman is using the solid square type of pliers rest! These never break! This tells me Leatherman is making these Wave Plusses with absolute top notch quality!! I cannot wait to get one !! I've been waiting a long time! As for sharpness of the thumbholes, it just allows for a more secure grip when opening the blades. Believe me you want that!

    I received the black wave plus about 2 weeks ago and it didn't have the + symbol on the handles. Do you think this would make it more valuable long term?

  • @survivalofthefittest409
    @survivalofthefittest409 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ive been waiting for a video, I'm pretty excited about these and I'm glad LM kept the profile of the Wave plier head and didn't just adopt the Rebar one. I saw a picture of the Wave Plus with a + symbol on the tool next to the Wave lettering. Does yours have the + symbol? Thanks!

    • @GearNut

      Blue Gear I just checked and yes the rebar will fit into the sheath. But it has a little play.

    • @BlueGearReviews
      @BlueGearReviews 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gear Nut thank you for the feedback. Is it still secure enough, despite the little play, that the rebar wouldn't fall out of the sheath?

    • @GearNut
      @GearNut  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blue Gear I feel very comfortable in saying that the rebar will not fall out under normal use. That being said if your laying on the sheath under a car and you go to slide out it could be forced out of the sheath due to the extreme sideways force.

      Understand your comment BUT keep in mind....Sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The Wave is their BEST seller!!! All I have ever heard is people say they wish it had replaceable cutters. So...they listened to their customers. Nothing wrong with that. Someone will always complain about the change. I think they are being very careful about messing with a best seller. That being said...I'd love 100 new designs to get excited about!! 👍🏼

    • @rodx5571
      @rodx5571 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Complaining because a company did what millions of users wanted? including me? I applaud Leatherman for listening. if it flops the can easily go back to the original design. Or they can relaunch it as a choice. Replaceable wire cutters does 2 things, makes it easy to buy and replace a set for 10$, less than postage to send it in and get it repaired. You arent without the tool for a month, and Leatherman makes a few bucks selling you the cutters, its the single most brilliant marketing and customer satisfaction strategy ever devised. There is no down side. If you must have the fixed cutters, plenty of close outs, and when they are depleted, Ebay has your back. Love the new tool, its my new EDC. my previous was a Wave so its not much different.

    • @rodx5571
      @rodx5571 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Con There are 3 generations of the Wave. The original with the all fixed tools. Generation 2 has the interchangeable bits and little eyeglass screwdriver. This vid is generation 3 with the interchangeable bits and replaceable wire cutters. The Charge line follows suit as they are almost the same tools. Exceptions being some odd ball Charge editions such as the gen 2 Charge ALX that has no scissors, bit has 2 bit drivers, one in each handle. EDIT: I have an extensive Leatherman collection including the original PST Marlboro miles edition new in box never used and the 2 tool adapters gen 1 and 2. For the Wave you have, there is a "slide between the handles" tool adapter bit driver made specifically for that tool and is different from the one we see on ebay every day for the PST. The "Wave tool adapter" is quite the rarity (i have one new in package never used). I just added this new Wave Plus to the collection. Its my EDC now.

    Does this sound familiar to you?..HOLY CRAP! I SHOULD HAVE WAITED. Well, I know buying a new or a redesigned product, is always exciting, but if you're not a patient person, you will regret it later. Whenever a existing model is redesigned, there are always some quality issues that need to be ironed out at the production facility, so might as well be patient and wait for all the complains and issues to be taking care by Leatherman, once it's done I will purchase it, maybe by Christmas 2018. They might remove some inner tool and replace them with an awl or bigger scissors or something else, who knows...so be patient, to wait is worth it, I guarantee it!

    And honestly, replaceable wire cutters aren't that big a deal anyway. I have yet to replace the ones on my Super Tool 300, the Wave, even my Gerber MP600 has awesome wirecutters. They last about as long as a pair of wirecutters anyway so there really is no need to waste money on a brand new Wave when mine works fine. This is all just marketting an upgrade, that's all!!

It is not neat. saw stucks refuse to get in without adjustment with my thumb force, plier don't closes if I don't close them with my finger sperately before I close the plier, Man! My brandnew leatherman plier is full of scratches already before I use them by scratching itself when it slides into the hold!
