Today Okdentang invites friends plunge into the atmosphere of cool weather and slow pacing life at Mae Kampong.
Mae Kampong is a small village situated in the middle of big forest. The village is located at the altitude approx 1,300 meters from sea level, which makes weather here quite cool during all year. We travelled there in the middle of November, and temperature was 18-23 degrees Celcius.
The main features of this place are: cool & comfort weather, coffee shops and eateries which you can find everywhere in village, beautiful flowers.
Food must-to-try: Sai Ua (Northern sausage), KhaoSoi (Northern noodle soup), baked eggs jungle style, roasted yam (tuber), grilled corn, coffee.
What to do: take short walking trip to waterfall, visit local temple (chapel in the middle of stream), just walk along village, sip coffee while enjoy view of village. But for me the most enjoyable activity was just sitting and play water in stream.
Accommodation here is mostly homestay with average price 500 THB per person per night, include breakfast.
About transportation. Mae Kampong is located 50 km from Chiang Mai. You can get there by public van ( / van.hotsprings , rented motorcycle or car, depend on you preferences.
