Yes, Hutch carried a Colt Python .357 six inch barrel after second episode, season 1 - He regularly reloaded the Python with speed loaders .... seen often. The baddest cop show ever filmed .... so cool. The model 59 Smith Starsky carried was a 14 round magazine.
PMG launched my puberty when I was twelve. Still works today, watching vids, and the original series. And on a bright note, I still see a VERY sexy man today. He has aged really well.

Dave Starsky was the first tv cop to carry a high capacity Smith & Wesson 9mm Semi auto that had 16 rounds . I don't recall Hutch ever having to re-load that street cannon or if he ever had a speed loader .
@AJ JY Thanks, it does look like a Colt. Starsky's was a Beretta. They're sitting in the Torino in an early episode, Hutch says something like "Got your Beretta?" And Starsky replies something like "My Beretta, your .38?"?

Hutch changed his gun to a .357 Colt Python Magnum. Starsky stayed with the same gun through out the series.
@djsullivan1231 His scripted line stated "my Beretta", so if he actually carried an S&W 9mm then his gun changed too. Berettas were carried by a lot of departments later on so I took it as truth.
My brother was a DET SGT in the Sheriffs Office , he was a Vietnam Vet from 65-68. Came out in ‘68 and became a cop, moved up to DET Sgt in 1974, I’m 17 years younger than him. He went to California to pick up a bad guy, and somehow he was able to get on the set. Bringing back four 8x10 B&W photos of David Soul (Hutch) and Paul Michael Glasser (Starsky), with one to me with a signature from David Soul. As Hutch was my favorite. Still have them today. 18 years later I followed his footsteps and became an officer and moved up to SVU Det. My brother said there was no way he’d be a cop today, well tgat was over 25 years ago now. As the things they did back then, would put him in jail. Now I’m retired, and he passed several years ago. Still love watching Starsky and Hutch, and can’t help but think of my Superman brother when I do. Truly great times. Except for all the fights in high school I was in because my brother arrested a classmates Dad or Brother. That was a bit rough at times. But still wouldn’t miss it for anything. I had his blue detective bubble light that he would put on his car roof. Unfortunately it was stolen years later.
No matter what anyone tells you, in their characters these cops who sometimes either bend or break the rules to get the job done, unlike other officers, ('The Rookies', and 'S.W.A.T.') they have to do things by the book, these two cops are the exception.
Thumbs-Up #76 I am, Saturday 5 Apr 2018! This television show helped keep me alive and sane while in high school. I wish someone would make a movie about them, like was done for the television show The Pretender (Michael T. Weiss), in the SAME street-wise fast-paced mix as the original. Use 1975 Gran Torinos instead of 1974 used in Ben Stiller’s parody. Use an actor from Sweden, Denmark or at least Europe to be Hutch and a man very much like Starsky to be him. Last thing, there need to be more of Starsky’s Gran Torino. Thank You Very Much for putting together this culmination. Now there are 2 with the Aerosmith song. 😀

Por isso rezo e mantenho o faro fino de urso por brechas na cerca. Ontem vi um foto de "Starsky e Hutch." Eram ídolos de seriado policial que eu amava quando jovem. Ou amo, agora não jovem. Eram dois tiras jovens e bonitos. Um cara meio doidão, um mais certinho, comum carrão vermelho " como um frasco de catchup" tocando a sirene alta pelas ruas de Los Angeles e apavorando os bandidos. Na foto, Hutch agora anda de cadeira de rodas e o Starsky empurra. E a sirene? A sirene desta feita toca dentro de mim.
Belas palavras, a vida é assim e o que levamos dela são as amizades,o amor pelo outro, a generosidade e empatia com o outro. A amizade entre o Paul e o David Soul é linda, perdura até hoje, difícil hoje de novo encontrar-mos.

It was a Beretta 92S 9mm in the first season. When did it change? Hutch had a long barrel .38, I thought a Colt.
